DW3 came out on PS1?! Anyway my step-brothers and I have played every single Warriors game (Including Gundam, even though I hate the Gundam ones.), the change they made between the first and second was one of the most important changes in gaming... for me anyway. It showed that KOEI had the sheer balls to say "Screw what we have done so far, lets completely change the direction this series is going in." which earned them huge respect from me.

Also, lets not forget that KOEI are behind some of the best games ever... More specifically Uncharted Waters New Horizons!!!

EDIT: Oh and "I... I-it's Lu Buuuu!" is one of the quotes I have never forgotten since I first heard it and will never forget.

EDIT 2: HEY! Hanzo is awesome!

I have to agree but i prefer Warroirs Orochi or Dynasty Warriors even though Koei fucked up with DW6.

Renbu? Wtf is that? And why isnt Zhoi Thai not wearing his katana?! ANY WHY THE FUCK DOES CAO REN HAVE A FUCKING SPEAR!? NANRRRGGHHHBLARRGH!*Foam starting to build up in mouth*

Ehm... And mostly because i havent found a copy of Samurai Warroirs...I really want to try it out.

And is Warriors Orochi 2 worth it? I have the first one on PC (Found it in a low price box!) And wonder if i should get it to my console?
DW6 sucked eggs, however Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce is very good. Same button layout as 6 and combos but somehow just better... Also, the new Sun Jian is a mutha fucking badass! And Wei Yan (who I have always liked) looks super cool too.

Is that the new game were all the characters has the ability to go super saiyan? Or something equally badass. Hmm...I did see it being sold quite cheap at a gamestore around here, maybe i should check it out.

Basically yes, they get auras and their appearance changes... Some people change into animal type beings while others look like Asian deities. For example Wei Yan becomes a large spiked lizard and Dong Zhuo becomes a boar., while people like Zhang Fei get golden skin and Cao Ren ends up looking like Shredder from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Well I played every Dynasty Warriors since 3, and Samurai Warriors 2.
I just loved it. Even though DW6 kinda sucks.
In my opinion DW3 is the best DW ever.

Yes, Strike Force is basically DW meets DBZ. Except it's plot is even more non existant then DBZ's. It was originally a hand held(PSP) title, and it's good for that arena. On the console it falls short of the other titles.

WO2 is pretty damn fun and an improvement on 1.

Plus, the historical factor tickles the nerd factor in me. Kind of like if a Kung Fu movie included a lightsaber fight.
Who else would pay money to see Darth Vader go up against Bruce Lee with a lightsaber?
The Force is strong with this suggestion.

DW3 is certainly hard to top.

I think DW7 will prove interesting.

Some quite nice additions.

A new faction, overhaul of the weapon system, use of multiple weapons, a kind of "RPG" mode, stuff like that.

May be the innovation people have been crying for.

That does sound interesting... I will certainly picking it up when it comes out.

I had this very argument with a friend of mine around the time when Dynasty Warriors 4 came out. My buddy is a sports nut and gravitates towards basketball and football as his sports of choice. He asked me how can I sit down and play the same shit over and over and over. He said it has been the same shit since Dynasty Warriors 2. I looked at him and asked, how can you play Madden year after year after year and not get sick of playing the same shit over and over. I said it had been the same shit since Madden was on the Genesis. He thought about it and said, oh shit, I think I understand it now.

I recently made the same comparison with another friend as far as modern FPS's are concerned.

For the record, if Lu Bu were in an FPS he'd own. Everyone knows bullets cant kill Lu Bu.
Only Lv. 50 Gan Nings can :p)

I dunno... I had my best time in the DW series with DW5. It was the best graphically, had the most robust roster and when you leveled characters to a certain point, you could pick their DW3 outfits! I'm still trying to figure out what the fuck they did to Gan Ning in DW6...

Could be good. I'll get it anyway, since I'm a sucker for the series.

I only buy Dynasty Warriors games and only because I feel like I have to, I started with Dynasty Warriors 2 which I got by pure chance, my mum owned a video rental shop and at the end of each day she would let me choose one video or PS2 game to bring home, now I think this has happened to all of us, someone is forcing us to choose something and because we're being forced to choose nothing looks good, so I just randomly picked Dynasty Warriors 2, I'd always seen it and because it never left the shop I assumed that was because it was a failure of a game, needless to say I took it home, played it, loved it and never returned it. Since then I have bought every single Dynasty Warriors game including extreme legends and excluding empires.

And really it's because the games haven't changed that I adore them so much, it reminds me of playing the old DW2 game, each game feels almost nostalgic.

I'm looking for DW7 as well. DW 6 was a bit of a disappointment.

It's kind of the mindless-fun games for me. I waltz into a crowd of people, button mash, and come out the only one standing. Satisfying.

This! So much this. Also, is it just me, or did they somehow manage to make Lu Xun even more confusing gender wise?
And how the hell did they connect Ma Chao and Lu Bu to those kinds of weapons? Those two are in the small list of generals who were defined by their weapons. And Dian Wei needs to get rid of whatever the hell he's using.

ah, i had heard this argument before, that they're kind of like madden, minimal changes each year, same repetitive game. thats why i didnt buy any game and just waited until the series ended so i can buy the last game. but then 6 empires came out with its tantalizingly easy trophies, so i got that. its pretty fun, but i got bored after only 3 scenarios! i guess im done with the series. i'll get that platinum some day.

Actually, a friend and I managed to take him down once.... it was very hit and run-type of tactics.... use of arrows, etc.... we would find him, surround him, lay into him a bit with the mosou attack before running off to beat up more grunts and get more mosou. If you pick the right place to fight him, you can do it, it's just very hard / time consuming :)

I know. I'm just being a turd. Any character above lv. 30 (stats half full) can take him down with not too much problem. UNLESS....of course you're talking about Shin Lu Bu (lol) in DW4. That throw shit he does is just unfair on almost any difficulty regardless of level. Hu Lao Gate has never been a greater massacre.

Yeah he was always a good time... We loved it when he would show up.
