This does look very interesting. I'm a big fan of the Halo mythos and have loved the gameplay of the previous games. I like the way that the art style appears to have evolved in the trailer, even the new aliens look like they "fit" the universe they're a part of while still being very different. No idea if the game will be good of course, but at least, thus far, the direction looks good.
Just one question, as someone who hasn't really read many of the books, quite why are there covenant attacking humans? I thought that the Covenant-human war was over. I could sort of understand if it was left over brutes/prophets + armies etc. (ie. those that are still in existence after 3), but why Elites?
It maybe the Servants of Abiding Truth whom are a sect of Elites who still believe in the Forerunners as gods. It's possible in the four years since Glasslands they have gotten a lot of support. We shall see in the book before Halo 4, The Thursday War.
Well, Halopedian does say that, but it hasn't been 100% confirmed, since why would the Didact want to fight humans? Unless he isn't the villian and maybe he's been waiting because the AI's in Reqiuem have been hacked by Precursors?
It's just wierd to have a guy that never seemed evil, actually very noble in some cases, suddenly turn around and be evil.
Hell, they built Master Builder Faber up to be this evil guy through both books so far.
I've yet to finish Glasslands and get into Primordium, so spoilers for those to a minimum, BUT, I did accidentally spoil something for myself. Correct me if I'm wrong, but-
Doesn't ONI control a Halo now? If that's true, 343 Guilty Spark's words in the 10th terminal in Halo: CEA are very indicative of this being part of the Didact's backup plan.
Or, perhaps he's been turned into an AI, and (like 343 before him) has started to go rampant and is taking his plan too far.
Even though I had a 360 at the time I gave up caring about Halo when M$ pulled the title from the PC market and went to Xbox 360 only. Never could get used to playing a shooter with a game pad. I rely on my ultra high DPI mouse and mechanical keyboard too much, plus the 360's graphics are crap to me.

Not trying to start a flame war, but did you watch the same trailer..? Those graphics are AMAZING. Not Crysis 2 but it looks really really good. Suprising they can pull out this much still out of a 6 year old console.
I'm actually MUCH more optimistic about this now. The first trailer was kind of odd (the switch between live action and gameplay was pretty awkward, to say the least) but the gameplay clip was much more interesting. It looks like they actually tell the story through gameplay very well, and the banter between Cortana and the Chief seemed totally organic, while still telling the player what they needed to know. I'm impressed, and very intrigued.
After seeing an up close still of that biped, ain't no god damn forerunner based on what I have read in the Forerunner saga. The warrior race was supposed to be ugly but they are till essentially similar to humans.
I will be very disappointed if Forerunners were suddenly an "Ancient Evil"
Well the ending is sort of confusing, an upside down Didatic symbol and also red and not blue. So maybe it's actually precursors who are using forerunner tech? Although it wouldn't make sense...
That is actually what makes more sense to me. If the Precursors created the Forerunners that I wouldn't be surprised if the Forerunners technology was based on Precursor tech much similar in the way that Covenant tech and now Human tech is based on Forerunner technology.
It just goes against everything that we know about Forerunners and their role in the Halo universe to make them an Ancient Evil
I'm pretty sure it's the precursers who are going to be the enemy. Its the forunners who rebeled against them and destroyed them. Now, they might want revenge on the decendents of the forunners(humans).
How can you innovate the FPS genre? You point, click, kill. That is how all FPS are like.
OT: I am looking forward to this game. They have added some interesting enemies that would actually make a person think before tossing in a grenade and rushing. The world also looks interesting as well.
How can you innovate platformersit is just jumping on things and killing things. How can you improve RPG'S?You just kill things and get experience. What will you add to the RTS'es everybody just uses thanks anyway.Lets all stand here and play with sand....under the rain
If everyone thought like that, we would never have games like Ricochet, Tribes, or Planetside. Battlefield games would be nothing but a free-for-all deathmatch, and everyone would be playing Unreal Tournament.
Sadly, this seems to be a fairly common train of thought for FPS developers today.
The skeleton of said horse was said to have been left unattended for several years prior to the event, the previous owners having left it there once they moved on from the property.
One on-looker described it as "Not surprising in the least".
for a 360 game it looks really damn good, I have always been a Halo fan so its a definite buy for me, sadly however, im kinda' phasing out of my Xbox, so 5 and 6 had better be on PC or I will not be a happy ginger...
It also seems to "Innovate" the campaign, the new enemies look interesting to say the least, especially that robot thing that steals your grenades and throws it back at you.
I was very impressed by the visuals and the story has my interest peaked. The gameplay, however, doesn't look particularly interesting. One to keep an eye on but, as of now, I'd put it in the "once it gets down to $30 or so" pile.
Referencing the abysmal Forerunner books? Check.
Complete lack of innovation? Check.
Enemies and weapons pulled right out of the Conduit games? Check.
Lack of ANY Halo type music? Check.
I am rather ashamed to call myself a hardcore Halo fan right now...
Keep scripted elements to a minimum like Halo should be and I'll be fine. Say what you want about Halo, its one of the few fps games that have equally good single player and multiplayer.
My only concern is that the enemies don't spice up the gameplay enough and turn into "evil robots that destroy all life" or some stupid Mass Effect BS. I've had enough cliches this year thank you very much.
