Then why show an on rail demo?!

Seriously Peter, reform Bullfrog and get back to making epic games again, screw this Fable stuff. Remake Dungeon Keeper and Syndicate without any fuss and all will be forgiven.

Microsoft probably just wanted more to show for Kinect (that actually functioned properly) and asked Peter to whip up something for them. Stupid mistake on his part, though, I've never been a fan of the series anyway.
I agree with this.

I know he rambles on and on about stuff not in his games....but at least he is trying!
Yeah so the Fable games arent the groundbreaking worldchanging games they could be but at least he tries to apologize and do better....unlike Brown Shooter I -> Brown Shooter Subtitle
or DNF (har har har)

I dread 2012 as it seems everything is placed on WiiU (looks interesting) Kinect (and the flailing and nightmares involved) and the PSVita (I guess PS3 is dead since we got hacked)

You know what would be more convincing than some dudes signing a wall? Getting some new gameplay footage together so we can see for ourselves that it's not on rails. For all we know, he just gave random people $5 to sign the wall. It's not like we can actually read the signatures and thus know if it's actual journalists who signed and if they lied, who we are so we can not trust them in the future.

Really, Peter, to apoogise for one game's shortcomings after its release is one thing.

To apologise after every one of your games is released is another.

To apologise immediately after you debut a game at E3, that's... that's... something else...

The example that comes to my where the demo was a poor representation of gameplay, was Brutal Legend. I doubt Double Fine would want to repeat the error, because I think it killed with wrong expectations an otherwise fun game.

...Actually, Ill give it to him.

He tried to make a demo that showcased something very specific about the game, instead of the game proper. Odd sure, but forgivable. And when it went over like a lead balloon, he apologized. Ill take a person who recognizes and corrects his mistakes over a person who is right on the first try 99% of the time, but sticks to his mistakes when he does make them any day of the week. And he went through the effort to show data that says that he is not just making stuff up, third parties agree with his hypothesis. So in regards to this, Good Job.

Now next time, don't half ass your moral choice system. Fable 3 showed so much promise, followed by so much disappointment.

I think Molyneux's problem is that he's very creative and very ambitious, but lacks that part of the brain that goes "Wait, no, that's a fucking terrible idea". That may have been fine back in the day when games didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars to produce, and that ambition provided us with a lot of good (even great) games, but it just doesn't work anymore. So he pushes forward with whatever bad/untenable idea he fell in love with at the moment, and when it proves undoable ends up with a product with the flaws of both a derivative and an overly ambitious game.

That being said, I love the guy. His constant earnestness is adorable.

Everything in the Fable series has been a mistake. Everything except the music. That's the only good thing about the series, and that's thanks to Danny Elfman and Russle Shaw.

Ah Molyneux, don't ever change. It just wouldn't be the same without your constant overhyping and sincere apologies over every single game you make

Oh, Molyneux. You are the king of horrendous mistakes. You keep overpromising and overhyping all of your games that whenever I get one and dislike it, I feel like I'm in an abusive or neglectful relationship.

Quit overhyping everything and pay attention to what actual developers do to make great games, okay?

Peter Molyneux, Lord High General of Terrible Decisions. At this point, I'm surprised he still has a job.

EDIT: Wow, Duraji basically ninja'd my joke.

Molyneux is the developer, not the grunts programming his vision. I think this is where the disconnect between promised features and final content lies. Nothing is impossible when you don't have to do it.

Why else was the demo on rails? Because how else are you going to showcase the Kinect in a Fable game?

I think the backlash would have been less bad if the demo didn't have the Fable name and people said "Wow those bad guys in that rail demo look like hobbes from Fable..."

I was listening to a podcast(Chronic Reload) and they compared Molyneux to the head of "The Office". To be honest I can just imagine Lionhead being just like the Office. Someone makes a joke idea and Molyneux takes it seriously and goes with it.

Oh my god, I am so tired of Journey. Did you know that their singer made racist comments to Sarah Silverman? One more reason to hate them. I stopped believin' years ago.

No, I won't be buying Rock Band: Journey.

Wait, who is this Moleynieux guy? Is he the new guitarist?

:p

Mr. Molyneux, Peter, you've got to learn to shut up. Right now your foot is so far in your own mouth you could probably taste the little plastic ends of the laces. If we count your whole string of... babbling misconceptions, or falsities that you've spewed about your game your foot should have entered the lower part of your digestive tract.

You need to be quiet, stay out of the public and produce one or two games that stand on their own merits not what your idealized notions of them should be.
