It isn't Halo 4, It's Halo Combat Evolved remade as an anniversary.

EDIT: Okay, was wrong, there is ALSO a Halo 4 being made.

It's not Halo 4, it's a remastered version of Halo CE.

I for one think 343 should buck the hell up, and make a remastered version of Halo 3 for PC.

I really, really hate, when developers say they're done with a franchise or an IP and then they just announce a new game. It just shows their greed. I'm pretty sure we will be seeing a new God of War, too.
Bungie said they're done. Microsoft did not. Hence why Bungie relinquished all rights to the Halo franchise to Microsoft who handed the series over to 343 Industries who are owned by Microsoft. The more you know.

Part of me is excited for a new Halo game, since i do like the franchise and i've loved it all the way back from Halo 1 on the original xbox. I am however dubious of stagnation, like most drawn out franchises, and even more dubious about a new studio taking the reigns which is being overseen by a first party. I get the feeling a lot of concessions are going to be made.

What i would like to see in Halo 4 are a greater enemy and weapon variety. Not sure about returning the flood. Reach seemed to do just fine without them. I'd also like to stick with playing a human / spartan / marine and not have to play as the Arbiter or some other alien. Lastly, despite its popularity, i really do not care for firefight and won't be upset if it's omitted. Never really found the appeal of Horde type game modes.

What i'd really like to see is new IP. I get that investors want people to play it safe and work with what they know sells, but still. Far too many sequels coming out. Nearly everything seems to be ending with a 3, and the stuff that doesn't is shovelware.
Hopefully Bungie gets to do something new under Activision and not like Call of Duty in space :p or even a sequel or reboot of one of their really old games would still be fresh enough despite not a true new IP

But yes, I am definitely keeping my mind open to what 343 can/will be dishing out. They've proven to be respectful of the series and franchise so I don't see reason to not give them a chance (agree with more weapons and enemies, stick with being human characters...)

Nothing to see here, was meant to press edit and I accidentally quoted myself instead.

Accidents like that don't really matter ... but the fact that someone in their employ got it wrong is not shocking in the least.

Halo is a series that can expand, so many story's haven't been told yet, and so many story's can be turned into games, personally i don;t mind this and i can;t wait to see what they do.

I trust 343, it is made of Ex-Bungie staff after all.

I don't think they ever did. Sure, Bungie did, but then Bungie is not involved with this anymore. The IP belonsg to Microsoft, and they said from the very beginning they were going to keep making them. 343 Industries was made specifically to do that, make more more Halo games. But Bungie is indeed done with Halo.

Seventh game in the series.

Seventh.

I don't care what anyone says, Halo Wars counts.
Exactly, I haven't played Halo Wars, but yes it counts I don't think it was a bad as people make it seem

Microsoft!! Leave Halo the hell alone! Bungie gave it a ending, don't screw that up.
that was not an ending! you can't "end" a series with "wake me when you need me". c'mon!

Can't microsoft just let halo sleep in peace in its coffin instead of resurrecting it every other year like it is some zombie

its official, it was the last they say on the conferrence. halo 4 is anounced. bungie did draw a line, but microsoft certainly hasn't. i thought the remake is lazy, but this is just sad, is microsoft just so scared that they won't own soem exclusief so they just release the same one the whole time?

i though the cofference was bad, like no suprises at all. i thought tomb raider was impressive. i want to play gear, but the gameplay was nothing special. minecraft was a suprise yeah, but will it be so interresting as on the pc, knowing that its still a beta?

There are three sorts of ending. The Metal Gear Solid 4 one, where you tie up absolutely everything into a perfect knot(See ZP episode on it.)

The Halo ending, which ties up some knots but leaves some hanging for people to speculate on, and have their own ideas on how the series pans out.

Then there's the ones like the first story in any trilogy, one plot strand is done up, but dozens are left undone to be concluded in the next installment.

Personally, Halo 3 got it perfect.... 'cept for killing of Miranda and Johnson. Damn you bungie drama department

And why the fuck would I not include ODST? And if we're talking games "set in the Halo universe" it would actually be the seventh, because even though Wars sucked hard it was still set in the Halo universe.

Not that I'm surprised of course, we all knew 343 was working on another one, we just didn't know how far along they were. But if they can keep it as good as the Bungie games it could be interesting, I just hope there's something knew in terms of gameplay. Frankly the series was getting stagnant by the end of the Bungie reign, as much as I loved Reach it felt dated.
