The only Halo I've ever owned was Reach. While I did have a fun time with it, I'm not so sure about this one. I may get the Halo: Anniversary thing instead.

Heck yeah, I'm gonna buy it! =D

Although, for the sake of epic-ness and story, I kinda wish it had just ended at Halo 3. Seriously, Master chief has saved the day with the help of the Arbiter; the Covenant wasn't trying to kill the human race anymore; the Flood, as I understood it, was wiped out with Gravemind's death; that annoying little bot that was following Chief around since the first game was pulverized by the Spartan Laser; and Chief was still alive, with Cortana saved, and just decided to sit back and chill out in a cryo-pod. All loose ends were wrapped up, and Chief even got to be alive and well, while still being remembered as a martyr back on Earth.

Making a Halo 4 to tack on to the end of that, seems like opening up a whole new, unnecessary sequel. We all love Halo, sure, but sometimes it's best to go out with a memorable bang, instead of dragging on into a slow, decaying mediocrity. Or at least that's my take on it. It's hard for companies to stop when they've got a franchise that's been printing money for them so far I guess....

Oh, no...here we go again.

Damn you standard-less gaming zombies! The industry continues to pump out, yet even more mediocre games, because you keep supporting the previous ones!

There really wasn't a need for another one....or three.
Hmm, isn't gaming elitism fine?

I enjoy the Halo series. Sorry that I like having fun instead of philosophical exposition.

It hasen't even been a year since Reach came out. This may be a rush job and didn't 343 studios make Halo: Waypoint, the single most buggy piece of crap full of trivial facts and trailers mixed in with machinima nad some cool comics? I know it received a needed overhaul but it took them long enough to do it.

I'm on the fence about this, I like Halo and Reach is my favorite despite the removing of the dual wild ability, but it also seems like it's too soon to release a new one.

I don't know how to feel about this.
I love Halo, I mean I fucking LOVE Halo. But I also loved how perfectly the trilogy concluded in the first place, and how poetic the ending was. Given that it ended the way it sort of began.
I was fine with spin offs and prequels because the Haloverse is a huge open ended universe with dozens of interconnecting stories itching to be told to new generations of fans.

That said, I wasn't much of a fan of the idea of any continuation after Halo 3, because after Halo 3 ends there's no Covenant, Flood or Forerunner tech left. The Elites and humans are allies, the Flood is dead and people know better then to mess with the Halo rings. I don't really see where the series can go from here.

But you never know, it COULD be good. I'm just not going to get overly hopeful, for fear of having my heart broken.

"a [new] trilogy. Bet you didn't see that coming."

I do hope he is joking when he says that. Not to be disrespectful, but I think most if not everyone saw it coming. Microsoft likes money, and halo makes money, so Microsoft likes halo and will never let it die so long as it continues to make money. Even if the saga of master chief ends, there will still be other stories to be told, games to be produced, and money to be made.

All that remains to be seen is if Halo becomes a Mario series (some bad games and spin offs but generally decent if not great games) or a Tomb Raider series (steadily declining quality [and sometimes playability] with each new iteration). Either way it has become a series to remember, and while some may be ready to call it one way or the other, I am not prepared to do so just yet.

What are you guys? A bunch of hipster douche bags? "Ohhhh its popular so it sucks just like CoD." Really people get a life and stop being retarded. More than likely this will be a good game, critics will probably love it, we will probably love it. Seriously, everyone hating on games for being popular or "milking" is getting old.

I'm all for it if Cortana will be even more provocatively nude. :p'

Something like that rather famous piece of fanart.

Exactly what's going on is pretty vague, other than the ship he's on seems to be under attack
So, it is going to start out with a tutorial on the ship after you wake up then once you get the hang of things, the ship gets attacked? ... Again?

Bungie stopped making them, doesn't mean Microsoft can't stretch it to 2 digits. ;)

Mr. K does seem to be right on the money here. It's just like Star Wars all over again. They'll milk the series until it actually loses them money, then they'll milk it a bit more in vain attempts to kick-start sales again.

You guys forget that this is a business. They make games to make money not to make you happy. However, unhappy people don't buy games. As far as I can tell though, the Halo series has never had a problem with sales or any profit dips. It's a cash monster and people buy it because they like it. Halo must be getting something right here for them to keep on churning them out and as long as they are good, (which I've never played a Halo game, spin-off or trilogy, that wasn't) then they can keep them coming.

Who are you to say when the story should end? If you don't agree with it, it's very simple, don't play it. Stop taking these company's decisions to "desecrate" your old games by making a decent sequel personally. Sheesh, sometimes I think you guys just see the word sequel and automatically assume it's a terrible game. That's not you talking, that's all those darn critics you've been listening to with consoles up their rear end. (They have to be that way though, it's how they make money.)

I could be wrong and this game could be horrible. Heck, I'm not even a huge Halo fan myself. But something tells me that I'll be seeing a few of you guys shamefully picking up this game later because it didn't turn out to be too bad after all. I won't say anything, but I'll laugh at you on the inside. :)

As long as Master Chief lives, so does the series. And even then it's flexible.

Peace.

Remember when they said there would be no more Halo games... and people actually believed it? Yeah, that was good times. Well, time to go back to my fortress of not giving a damn about Halo... weeeeee!

Thats just called having an opinion...
I'm not a fan myself, but I still get enjoyment occasionally from the game.
Go Arby. Though he's probably dead by now...

Anyways, I hate microsoft for not stopping the series with Reach, but at the same time don't care enough to hate on it. My friends are gonna buy it, so i'm gonna end up playing it anyways...

Ha Ha Ha Who's smug and superior now internet.
Remember back on the Halo Reach tread when you were all like "Boo hoo it's the last Halo game" and I was all like "No it isn't." and you guys all called me a dick for lying.

Well internet, who's the dick now? That's right it's you.

Enjoy your not developed by Bungie Halo games.
