Well valve and EA are different on one, key front. Valve wants to make games with a benefit of being payed, EA wants payed so they make games.
That is the key difference here, sure, Valve wants to make money but saying that they only want to make games for a profit is wrong. EA on the other hand wants to just make money and as a result they sell games. If you want to get insight on what I mean, compare how Valve markets themselves or says about other competitors like EA's Origin, then compare what EA says about Valve's Steam and how they market their games, I'll sit here and wait.... Good did you finish? Whats the biggest difference between how these two market their products, games. Well EA takes a much more shallow
"LOOK AT THESE GRAPHICS, YOU SEE THAT THERE, YEAH THAT IS TOTALLY IN-GAME LOOK AT THESE GRAPHICS YOU DICKS! BUY OUR GAME, BUY IT BUT ALSO BUY IT NEW SO THAT WE GET MORE MONEY OR ELSE YOU HAVE TO PAY 20$ MORE FOR CUT CONTENT! BUY THESE DLC BUNDLES WERE ANNOUNCING BEFORE RELEASE!" While Valve is more
"Well here, take a look at our product and see what you think. We made this so you guys could enjoy it. The price-tag is 60$ with free DLC coming out later."
Valve has
always cared more about their consumer then EA and as such don't try to color our expectations with endless amounts of glitter and cutscene trailers. Even when they do they don't have us pay 10$ for a fucking map-pack or 10$ to activate online since we bought it from a competitor or used.
While on this subject, Steam as DRM is more similar to saying Gamestop is DRM. Steam is essentially a fully-digital Gamestop, you walk in, buy your game and download it. Steam will just keep your Library nice and concise in its Library section so you can pick and choose what to play later or delete.
In conclusion, no their not the same on the principal that EA strictly publishes or makes games to get money, not for their love of games. And Valve loves to make games with the side benefit of being payed. OP, obviously you made either a troll-post [shame on you] or some joke that just went above my head, but in case you meant what you meant, there is my defense of Valve, take it as you will.
