Somehow, somewhere this is going to bite that girl in the ass. The internet will remember. Heck she might someday stumble upon a discussion about fapping to her ingame avatar. Yay internet.

Moo.
Wouldn't surprise me. Never going to 4chan again. Wasn't much my scene anyway.
It's never just 4chan. There are perverts elsewhere on the internet, just look under any rock.

Of course not just 4chan but it is a concentration of perverts that are other wise spread out or that I would have no reason to interact with or see. 4chan does have some cool stuff though but it's just to 4chan for meh.

This just in: EA = shit.

On the other hand though the NHL is men's hockey league so the absence of female avatars is sorta justified. I mean you wouldn't have male avatars in a game about, oh I don't know, women's basketball.

I don't see why there would be the option to play as a woman in a sports league for men, though in Fifa games you can play as teams from all the different football leagues so maybe a better solution would have been to make the game series "American Ice Hockey" and have it feature both NHL players and whatever the term for the female hockey player league is.

While not saying its right, I could see why EA never did till this point. the NHL league itself is male only (dont bring up Manon Rhéaume, she didnt stay and that was more of a novelty than anything else), and there's a female league as well. And really, when i go and play a game thats based on, named after, and marketed for fans of a male only league, i dont expect a female player option.

Now, and this is probably sexist, if they included the game on two discs and did a womans league on one and the male league on the other, you could fix the problem easier.

...

and really, I have wonder what people will say when you get someone playing as a player like Zdeno Chara challenging a girl player and fighting them will say about a game where one of the features is a male fighting a female (cause you know they wont care if the woman challenges the man to the fight or wins the fight).

So, have they just made a game where I can beat the shit out of a 14-year old girl? Excellent.

That's really sweet.

Good on EA, they get too much slack these days.
To cut some slack is to let someone off, if something is slack it's loose. So to have too much slack is to get away with a lot.
I think you mean the opposite.

NHL doesn't have female hockey players. At all. Ever.

So yeah, nothing really to see here, just EA pandering.
<url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manon_Rh%C3%A9aume>Manon Rhéaume would liek to disagree. She may have only been exhibition, but thats still a "real" game according to the league and the site, since they keep records, standings, and do news articles about them.

I think EA noticed Ubisoft and Activisions anti-PC tirades and have decided that if they keep acting like assholes with their marketing department they'll cause an assholism singularity, so they did a good deed to try and balance the scales. That, or EA Sports isn't as bad as Visceral Games.

I am concerned by the possibility that this 14 year old girl just gave EA the legal rights to her own likeness.
No worries, looks nothing like her.

On topic. One nice story and the negative stuff gets forgotten? Wow, I hope a human isn't in charge of balancing out karma 'cos based on this thread we suck at it.

All they really had to do was make any face and stick long hair on it.
