FUCK! Just when I was having hope for Star Wars, we have gone from the hands of a madman bent on ruining his series to a developer who will do anything to ruin a series if it gets them more money.

Now we'll get good movies but shitty games :(

Well Star Wars games had taken a serious quality dip over the last 4 or 5 years anyway.

And EA doesn't automatically make shitty games... They have shitty PR, and have some shitty policies but their games themselves are not all bad all the time. Don't let being a hater blind you.

Son of a *****! I was about to make this thread >.<

OT: I guess this means the Star Wars game Obsidian wanted to pitch to Disney is no longer a thing. Pity, I was looking forward to seeing what it might have been about.

This is without a doubt applicable for some:

http://nooooooooooooooo.com/

And this:

Though I think they'll just hand it off to Bioware or possibly make Battlefront 3 comeback. I have very little quarrel with this.

EA have always made good football games so they might be able to make a decent star wars game. Still no FIFA game has ever been as fun as Sensible Soccer 2006. Maybe we'll get annual releases of Battlefront games.

Hey, at least we won't have to wait any longer for Battlefront 3, right?

Or Battlefront 4, or Battlefront 5, or 6, or even 7....8,9,10, 11:Jedi-Ops, 12:Jedi-Ops 2.

May the old Gods and the new have mercy on us all...

So just because EA bought SOME of the rights? That means all the games are going to be bad? They've drafted in Bioware and DICE. The people who made KOTOR and BF3. BF3. Yeah, that's Battlefield 3, not Battlefront 3. It'll look bad on their lineup having two BF3s, but yeah it'll happen. I think this is actually a good turnout. EA make great games, and I feel they get a worse press than they deserve.

Star Wars games can't go much more downhill at this point IMO, so EA giving it to their development teams (and let's face it EA has got some incredibly talented dev teams under its belt) might actually be a good thing. We'll have to wait and see.

So yeah, not buying any new Star Wars IPs I guess. Can't trust anything with EA on the box to not be total shit.

Nice job Disney, way to fuck up right out the gate.

Here comes game being milked to death like Battlefield is, I fear for this IP's safety in EA's slimy hands..

An IP that has, probably more than others, generally had more good games than bad ones is now going to be under the control of a company that largely puts out pretty good games? Oh no!

Yeah, sorry, I fail to see what the problem is unless you're someone who has decided to hate EA.

Well, at least we have something to gaige off of in RECENT years. Remember guys, Bioware was also responsible for SWTOR. And look how great that turned out! OH, wait... shit.

Well, at the very least we'll definitely be getting a new Battlefront game, and that'll be refreshing. Can't say I'm psyched about literally anything else they'll be producing though. What's Visceral gonna do? Make a game version of Star Wars: Death Troopers?

Bugger it I'm lazy so I'll just copy-paste my post from the news article

You know, as someone whose main experience of the Star Wars universe is through the games (never seen the films), I really couldn't care less if EA "ruins the franchise", like it could actually get much worse at this stage, based on public whining. But there is potential for greatness there. Visceral good with what I'd call "action stuff", which could make for fantastic lightsaber duels and such, especially with how good they are with the more gory side of things. DICE, well, you've got your destructo-physics sorted, which could really help to show the impact of various abilities have on the environment and Bioware are (usually) a team of good writers, so there's the story possibly sorted and all.

So what you want is a "DICE! VISCERAL! BIOWARE! WITH OUR POWERS COMBINED WE ARE CAPTAIN AWESOME STAR WARS GAME!" deal. What'll probably happen though is 3 decent games, micro-transactioned out the ass, and me weeping over the continued disappearance of Mirror's Edge 2.

Because obviously EA is a blight on the industry, and are killing creativity, and milk franchises, and hate customers, and haven't made a good game in [Insert Number of Years Here], and RARGLE BARGLE DRM WARGLE GARGLE MICROTRANSACTIONS!

Oh, wait, I just remembered that I don't irrationally hate on games that don't even exist yet just because of the publisher who's going to be getting them out of the gate. And that Lucasarts was responsible for this [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_The_Force_Unleashed_II] and this [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_The_Clone_Wars_%E2%80%93_Republic_Heroes], were the reason KotOR II was rushed to the point of having an incomplete story, and were likely the reason Republic Commando, Battlefront, and Jedi Knight were all dropped and forgotten.

OT: I don't think thats a bad thing. That means Bioware may get to make new Kotor singleplayer rpgs. I am one of the crazy people that believes Bioware is still capable of making great games, and that sometime EA has to realize that letting Bioware making the kind great games that made them the godkings of rpgs in the past, will ultimatly mean more ca$h than forcing them to try to copy someone elses successes and fail at that.

I still loved Mass Effect 3. I just do NOT trust EA to not run this into the ground VERY quickly with day-1 DLC and always-online DRM

I started hating EA after the one-two combo of the SimCity debacle and Dead Space's homogenization. Before that I had no problem with them.

Also, Jim Sterling's arguments and videos helped in pushing me into full EA-hatred territory.

Gee thanks Disney, dash all my hopes of a new X-Wing space shooter game. No way EA will fund that.
