I still loved Mass Effect 3. I just do NOT trust EA to not run this into the ground VERY quickly with day-1 DLC and always-online DRM
Day-one-DLC dont bother me too much, I just ask around if its invaluable for the game and if it is, if the game is worth the extra money. If not i get the whole thing at a later point when the price droped. Basically Day1-DLC has the opposite of its desired effect on me: on average I am less likely to spend money on the game at launch.
And after the Hindenburg-level desaster that was the Sim City launch I think (or should i say i hope) they will not try that again too soon.

And most importantly I'm a very optimistic person, so all will be well untill it happens otherwise :)

So just because EA bought SOME of the rights? That means all the games are going to be bad? They've drafted in Bioware and DICE. The people who made KOTOR and BF3. BF3. Yeah, that's Battlefield 3, not Battlefront 3. It'll look bad on their lineup having two BF3s, but yeah it'll happen. I think this is actually a good turnout. EA make great games, and I feel they get a worse press than they deserve.
Battlefield 3 sucked without its multiplayer. C'mon, a QTE where a FUCKING RAT KILLS YOU?! Yeah, that's not really a strong argument in Battlefield's Case

No, don't get the torches out. If the games are good, buy them. If not, Don't. Do not give this any more press than it deserves.

Coincidentally that's actually the point when I stopped playing BF3. I killed the rat, but the fact that I had to do a QTE to kill a rat or be killed by said rat put a rather bad taste in my mouth so I stopped playing the game.

For full disclosure: I had only rented it, so I didn't have an Online Pass and therefor couldn't play it online. And I don't pay an extra $10 to play rented games online.

Sensible, it's the way I always approach EA. If their game has something I don't agree with, I don't buy it, the ones they leave alone/get right when it comes to not having DRM/anything bad then I buy it, sales like that if they ever tip the balance will tell them what works and what doesn't.

I kinda want to shake this author. Shake him hard for like 5 seconds. EA *can't* make a good X-Wing series sequel. It's not because they don't have the talent or drive (although they might not), it's that EA can't make a PC exclusive. It's not as profitable as a multiplatform game, therefore they won't do it. And the only people who think an X-Wing sequel can be good on a console are either people who never played it or people who only vaguely remember it. You'd have to remove like 75% of the game's controls, for one, and it'd still be a mess. And it wouldn't be as enjoyable an experience, *flying* without a flight stick.

Even if EA managed to make a good Star Wars game, I couldn't/wouldn't buy it. They only release their PC releases through Origin, which is *not* getting installed on my good computer. And they've been giving Nintendo the cold shoulder since their refusal to use Origin as their online solution. PC and Nintendo are my platforms, and EA wouldn't release for them.

...and then there's the fact that I promised myself/them I wouldn't buy any EA titles after Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3.

So many people want to see Battlefront 3 or another Dark Forces (which everyone just calls Jedi Knight) from this. You *know* they'll be grey and brown, "gritty" messes filled with every kind of aim assist in the book and unoriginal weapons and controls. They want KotOR3. But after ME3, should they?

*Exclusive* rights to Star Wars for years on end? This can only end poorly.

Because Lucas Arts were such good publishers >.>

Anyone remember KOTOR 2? No? Ok then.

Anyway about this whole EA *sigh* "controversy" (I use that word in the loosest possible way) it's rather simple. Ok ready?

Mind blow #1.

If the game turns out to be good, buy it.

Mind blow #2.

If the game turns out to be a piece of absolute wank, do not buy it :O

HOW 'BOUT DAT SHIT?!

Problem is EA won't allow a good Star Wars game to exist because it'd be too risky.

So you know what that means? No good Star Wars games for another few years... as if the fans weren't starved enough at this point.

FUCK! Just when I was having hope for Star Wars, we have gone from the hands of a madman bent on ruining his series to a developer who will do anything to ruin a series if it gets them more money.

Now we'll get good movies but shitty games :(

Good movies but shitty games? Sorry, but there's not a snowball's chance in hell that the movies will be anything other than a homogenized Disney piece of lens flare filled crap.

I don't know, I think the film industry experts generally agree that the Star Trek reboot was superior to pretty much everything before it.

Well Star Wars games had taken a serious quality dip over the last 4 or 5 years anyway.

And EA doesn't automatically make shitty games... They have shitty PR, and have some shitty policies but their games themselves are not all bad all the time. Don't let being a hater blind you.
They don't make shitty games. They make the same shitty game and release it under different titles. At least as far as anything related to shooters are concerned. What they do is thinly spread out every feature in a game until it appeals to widest demographic possible. Every game they release nowadays feels completely soulless. Maybe your the fortunate target demographic who actually likes the one game EA is constantly releasing, but I actually like to try something different now and again.
I enjoyed syndicate. I admittedly hadn't played many. Sim city's train wreck has turned me off of EA for a long time. Not to say the the game was bad, but because it was hideously misrepresented, buggy and the drm fiasco. The game was solid... The framework was truly awful and EA's PR only made it worse.
Are you really trying to tell me that you're afraid you're going to get a soulless Star Wars shooter? I think if they just rebooted some old Star Wars titles we'll be better off than the recent slew of Star Wars garbage games. Perhaps we can get another Red Squadron game? Maybe another pod racing game? Shadows of the Empire was awesome at its time... Lets get away from this ridiculous force unleashed and Star Wars kinect crap.

While I don't think EA is going to damage the Star Wars name more than George Lucas and recent lucasarts already did, I lament that in the event that the games are fairly decent, I may have to deal with EA's terrible business practices.

Meh, whatever. There really hasn't been a good Star Wars game since Empire at War so I don't care.

See everyone! I CAN BE SENSIBLE TOO.

Ok, so it's the first documented case, but it can happen.
