Battlefield 3's last big update for me got reset at 93%.
YOU MONSTERS! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO MY BANDWIDTH!
Yeah, I got nothing.

One of the main things that EA gets flak for is buying a company and then closing them when that company loses both profit and the ability to make games that aren't mediocre.
What makes me laugh is that THQ, Activision, Take-Two, and just about every other major publisher has done the same thing.
People just don't like seeing a business act like a business, and some people suffer from what I personally call 'Che Guevera syndrome'. If it's a corporation they express their disdain on the internet while they keep buying corporation product.
It's kind of like the guy wearing the Che Guevera shirt who talks about how great he was.
We all know one.
But we don't have the heart to tell him that when he bought the shirt, he spat on every idea that Che had.
It works fine.
Worked fine for my friend who bought TOR off it as well.
Are you trying to tell me that because you don't like Origin that's reason enough for me to hate EA? That's a pretty lackluster point.

Yes.
How is that link supposed to convince me of Origin's shortcomings when it's just a whole bunch of unfortunate people repeatedly[/c] replying to one thread?
Especially, as I already explained, when Origin is working just fine for myself, AND my friend.
Hell, I'm going to be using Origin to purchase TOR.
People need to get off this, 'it's cool to hate EA' spat. They're just like any other video game corporation. People get mad at EA for anything but let Bethesda release bug filled games without flack. It's kind of sad really.
Looking around at this thread, and the rest of the internet, you and your friend seem to be the only ones genuinely satisfied with origin. EA is a publisher. I don't blame them for the quality of their games, but if I did, it would involve lots of caps lock and profanities about the butchering of liara's character in ME2, the rat quicktime event in battlefield 3 (flashlights blinding you in daytime, WTF?), and the entirety of DA2. I hate them because they are a shitty company, completely out of touch from their community and only interested in profits.
I would look again. There are more posts telling the people spraying hate to bugger off than there are "horror" stories.
If there is any company that isn't "only interested in profits", then they exist in magical fairy land. ALL COMPANIES CARE ABOUT PROFITS NUMBER ONE. Whether this is Bioware, Valve, EA, Activision, IBM, Microsoft, Sony, or Burger F***ing King, all companies care profits number one.
OT: Only problem I've had with EA is that the NBA Live series has gone way downhill. I liked that series about 7 years ago.
Okay, first of all, I suppose nonprofits only exist in magical fairy land. Most companies intend to make a profit, and that is their goal, but some companies put the satisfaction of their community over their profits.

I don't know what you're trying to say, but I was saying it was ironic that the anti-Piracy DRM led to him getting a pirated copy of the game (even if he didn't pirate it himself).MasterSaji said:Context is your friend.OhJohnNo said:That has to be the most ironic thing I've read all month.Irridium said:Eventually, my friend lent me his pirated copy of Spore. OT: Other than Origin, my only real trouble was when trying to get a refund for APB way back when but I had to settle for another game then use their crappy download manager to play it. It's all very "meh."

Essentially, if it's a corporation, money has to come first.

Which goes back to my point, the point which you decided to respond to in the first place.
EA isn't the only company that is only interested in profits. Every company is only interested in profits. EA just doesn't do the PR nice guy stuff that other companies do.
With all of the near broken Bethesda published/developed games that have come out, people still love them.
With the fact that Obsidian has never released a game that hasn't had major bugs (Alpha Protocol, New Vegas), everyone seems to be fine with that company.
Nintendo's constant rehashing of games that people who can't stop living in the past keep buying. Also for not getting with the times when it comes to online console gaming.
Microsoft being the only console manufacturer that charges for online.
Activision essentially milking Guitar Hero to literal death, milking COD, and producing next to nothing original.
Here in Canada, The Witcher Enhanced Edition didn't come with the required CD Key (affected me personally). I didn't go and make a forum post about how much CD Projeckt sucks. I went to customer care and got a new CD key.
Ubisoft's asinine DRM and milking of Assassin's Creed.
With all of what other companies do listed above, people still give EA flak over any other company over the most miniscule complaints.
For example:
"Origin scans my PC"
Windows Updates do that as well. And to be honest what are you worried about? They use to info on your PC and sell it to advertiser, just like Facebook, MySpace, and any other social media site.
Valve got freaking hacked and told everyone that their credit info was in danger.
Not a peep of negativity.
If Origin got hacked it would have been EA's fault in the eyes of everyone, and instead of being rational and just changing their passwords, people would be setting up a class action lawsuit.
And sadly what the OP is really complaining about is the compensation. Compensation EA didn't have to give out. OP is mad because they dared to give him coupons for Origin because he had to re-install a video game and make new characters for an MMO. Whoop dee freaking do, what a tragedy.
It's kind of a pathetic thing to complain about on the internet in a forum overall. At least I'm glad that, judging from the other posts here, I'm not the only person who thought that hating EA stopped being cool 5 years ago.
