I don't blame the publishing companies for failed titles, I blame the developers. If Bioware can get away with making the game how they want, I see no reason that other companies are unable to do the same.

Go to hell is all I can say to EA. For every good, original, fun game they turn out (see Mirror's Edge etc.), they churn out around 300 rubbish, run-of-the-mill recycled templates.
That's what gives them the money to put the good, original games out.
That never stopped Retro Studios making the entire Metroid Prime series.

I really don't hold any personal hate towards EA. I've enjoyed a good portion of the games they have released and I think that they have done a great job.

I dislike activision more intensely, but only because I've had more direct problems with them and games they run...

I had fun with Mirror's Edge, Brütal Legend, and Mass Effect 2 looks awesome. so I don't complain. Then again, I also don't really hate publishers for putting out bad games. No one at Activision has ever come to my house with guns, demanding I buy Tony Hawk: Ride.

Hey, good on them! But EA is a HUGE ASS FUCKING COMPANY, with tons of studios under its wing to support and/or close. RIP Pandemic...I loved The Saboteur.

They've made or published plenty of the games in my collection, including 90% of the console games. They're OK by me.

I'm not a big fan of them. Their games tend to be of low quality.
Crysis, Dead Space, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Need for Speed, Future Cop LAPD, Burnout Paradise, Battlefield 2
Crysis? Meh. Dead Space? Haven't tried that. Mass Effect? Lost interest in it, will return later. Dragon Age? Meh. NFS? I don't like racing games. Future Cop LAPD? What? Burnout Paradise? See NFS. Battlefield 2? This game is kind of good.

As long as they keep making NBA live and Madden they're okay by me.
if you have played one madden then you have played them all. i am tired of these poor foolish "gamers"who think that there is anything special/different from one madden and the other!

Did you really just say that?

Retro made the Metroid Prime games as a wholly owned subsidiary developer of Nintendo - the full cost of development and publication was footed by nintendo - who earn their money through the non-stop rehashing of game franchises and templates to nearly the same extent that EA does.

Questions of relative game quality aside, you CAN see that the same rule applies in both cases, right?

Origin did make the game they wanted Ultima Online 2 was almost finished when EA canceled the project thus damning virtually every MMO from then on to be an Everquest clone. The reason they canceled it? They didn't want it to compete with Ultima Online.

Ultima and Dungeon Keeper are just the titles I most care about that have been ruined or killed by EA. There are dozens of other examples.

Also how long do you think it will be before EA destroys Bioware?

EA is mainly here to introduce many young people to the fine art of multi-torrenting.
I had absolutely no trouble playing their games lately, mostly because I never bought a damn thing. The idiots don't deserve it anyway and it's easier to make the pirated games run than their DRM-scum-sucking BS. Only game that might be worth buying for being something nice in their portfolio is Mirror's edge... but that's overpriced so they screwed that up too.

(Retardinator is a proud owner of all Source games released by Valve in the post-HL2 era)

The game might not be that different from the last one, but it doesn't mean it a fun experience. Better than most 'innovative' or 'original' titles of today

Just because its not more innovative with each title, doesn't mean the series hasn't updated. If you're saying the madden of 2002 is the same as 2010, then I'm going to have to ask you to step outside.

And the bottom line is that I (And everyone else) spend our money the way we want.

I always thought they were an independent studio. Ah well, I have been bettered.

I still stand by my point that most of their games are pretty poor.

Pandemic killed themselves by not making any good games for 5 years. Get over it.
Even if The Saboteur was good (I don't know, I didn't play it), it came out too late to save them.
EA isn't the evil company it was 5 years ago. Activision has done a fine job of taking that position.
