This might have been done before but don't hurt me I'm relatively new =)
So what are your earliest and fondest memories of gaming. Mine are playing Crash Bandicoot, I remember that certain parts of that game used to frighten the shit out of me for no particular reason. Stronghold Crusader also bribgs back fond memories

The same thing I say every time a thread like this shows :D

Some of you kids might be too young to know this, but Sonic used to be good :D

I mean really good.

Like, before Michael Jackson fell into musical obscurity, good.

Trying to coax my computer to properly read the floppies so I could play Kings Quest II.

Oh, and I'm talking the proper 5 1/4 inch disks that were delicate as hell, not those 3 1/2 inch "floppies" that were friggin' bullet proof in comparison.

I'd have to say playing Goldeneye on my nephew's N64. Also, Ocarina of Time. God only knows how much Ocarina of Time was played during my childhood.

I remember getting screwed numerous times out of a perfect flag jump in Super Mario Bros. I also remember finally beating the game despite the absurd boss. I'd jumped on top of everything else, but not this dude, huh?

I also remember slamming my NES controller into a wall after being "cheated" in Punch Out!!. Tyson was such bullsheet. Still remember 032 730 8442 for the Piston Honda code...

Watching the movie, The Wizard, and wanting a Power Glove...then finally getting one and wanting to punch Fred Savage in the balls for lying to me about how useful the Power Glove was.

Lastly, getting lost in the forest maze in the Legend of Zelda. To this day, I still get lost and vaguely remember the path I'm supposed to take....allegedly...

I remember playing a platformer (can't remember which) and refusing to play it for a while because I was scared of a part that gave me trouble.

I had an N64 that I played to death (and I still have it, for what it's worth). Too many winners to count, but I'd say my favorite is Donkey Kong 64.

I was 3 years old, my family was on a road trip to somewhere and my dad randomly acquired an NES with Mario Bros, which he played at the hotel for a while. I was bugging my dad to let me have a turn on the game and he just happened to be in a level which had a pitfall near the start. I kept running into that pitfall and was in tears before my dad taught me how to jump. Playing Mario quickly became my favourite pass-time and many games followed; my first three games were Mario Bros, Mario Bros3 and Kirby's Dreamland.

This would have been the summer of 1994 I believe.

I started with Sonic 3 and Knuckles, and I feel it had a better opening stage. With kickass music.

I followed this up with the Star Wars Collection 2, which gave me X-Wing, Tie Fighter, X-Wing Vs Tie Fighter, Dark Forces, Dark Forces 2, Mysteries of the Sith, and Yoda Stories.

Oh man, just far too many.

For PC:
- 2-colored (black and green) helicopter landing game
- 4 colored games, like skate or die and karate-ka
- Sierra quest games, favorite being the heroes quest series
- 3D shooters such as Wolfenstein 3D, Rise of the Triad, and other Apogee/id games
- platformers like Duke Nukem/commander keen (yes it was originally a platformer)
- The first RTS I played was Dune

For consoles:
- Contra, Mario Bros, ninja gaiden on the NES
- Moving onto beat-em-ups and other platformers on the Sega Megadrive

For handhelds:
- Playing Motocross Madness, Spider man, Mario and double dragon on the Gameboy
- Moved onto Mortal Kombat and bullet-hell flying games on the Game Gear

And a shitload more, that made up my childhood and imbibed that deep-bound love for games that I have today.
