Funny how when Hurricane Katrina hit people were blaming it on loose morals and the enabling of "fags and dykes" as one preacher so lovingly put it. But the one place that didn't get flooded was the Red Light District.
Don't you know? Gays do cause hurricanes, but they also project a rainbow shield that protects them from the said hurricanes.
That or even nature can't bring herself to ruin those fabulous shoes.

Doesn't anyone else think that this would make a really amazing pick-up line?

"You're so hot the Earth had to rearrange its pants", etc.

If this man is right, we could create a whole new mountain range if we just pile enough naked women ontop of each other!
Sounds like a good business idea.
I'd be totally for that, if only to see a huge pile of naked women. Not too many though, I mean we don't want anyone crushed or suffocated.

Oh God I just had death camp mental images, I can no longer find this funny and call myself human (I also scored a Godwin point on the way past). Dammit.

I do this quite often for personal reasons too.

But yes, religious people almost seem to be drawn to topics that would cause flame wars like no other if they were ever discussed online.

Iranian clerics are some what similar to the priests in Rome, people show them respect up front but secretly think they're buffoons.

I was at this cafe in Iran when a group of clerics just walked in and occupied my table. Luckily I was finishing up my dinner and a fellow customer invited us to share his table.

Rather hilarious. Sort of like when Pat Robertson said that the Haitian earthquake was caused because of Voodoo and Devil-dealing. Or when Jerry Falwell said that 9/11 was caused by Gay people being tolerated in US society. Or when even a few buddhists proclaim that a crippled person must have done something bad in his previous life. Or when a few hindu gurus proclaim that members of the lower castes are being "punished" via Karma for past sins and thus deserve to be treated like dirt.

All religion is prone to this sort of nuttery. Most religious people (these days) don't think this way, and I applaud them for that.

You would think that if his hypothesis is correct, then Las Vegas should be a big pile of rubble. Indeed, if his hypothesis was correct, then 99% of the USA would be rubble, given that by Islamic standards, 99% of all Western women dress immodestly.

As you know, his hypothesis doesn't stand up to what we know of the world. Much like most old superstitious nonsense.

These ladies can make my earth quake.

Oh I'm sorry... um... something about liberalism, "religion is stoopid", that whole bit... but yeah, you know what I mean.

I get more and more the idea that religion just makes a joke of itself
This along with other ignorant comments:

Yes, you are right, one insane and borderline idiotic preacher is the voice of the entire Islam... Hell, of all the religions! All religions are insane and stupid... Let's take it further - a mayor of a town says that earthquakes are caused by the global warming... OH MAN WHAT A STUPID MAYOR! And a stupid town, and all of the people who live in it!

Did you get the sarcasm in my post? Good? Understand now why it's wrong to put hundreds of millions of people together based on few ignorant morons? Unless you are 12 and still judge by the cover.

Stupid people saying stupid shit.
I'd love for some scientist to try and justify this.

you see when women wear exposing outfits the wind forms highly dense air pressure in the cleavage and tushie areas that cause the ground to heat up under said areas which cause friction in the seismic plates and force them to shift causing an earthquake :D

How women dress? Perhaps we should inform the "venerable" Cleric, that it is perhaps stupid assumptions that cause earthquakes.

Then again, we can't be to hard on the guy. Just look at what we have in our own back yards.

"Many women who do not dress modestly lead young men astray and spread adultery in society which increases earthquakes," he explained. Yeah, if this is not facepalmworthy I dont know what is. And its a perfect example of why organized religion in any form is an abomination.

Believe in what you will but keep it to yourself. Religion is dangerous stuff...almost as dangerous as stupid people...and the combination...deadly.
This guy [http://www.timecube.com/] is an atheist, and is saying stuff considerably worse than any religious nut you care to mention.

Blaming stupidity and ignorance on religion is kind of like blaming earthquakes on scantily clad women. It is not only a non sequitir, but is provably false.

Wow. This is even more fucked up than what The 700 Club's Pat Robertson said about the Haiti earthquake...

I theorize he thinks that way because his brain is the size of a marble and twice as smooth. Cookie for the reference.

First the bolded bit. Why do the men make the women cover up instead of say, averting their eyes? Just saying.

Second: Organized religion in and of itself is not bad. It's when it's taken over by fundimentalists that you have a problem.

Japanese mythology's explanation for earthquakes is more believable than this crap.

What was their explanation? It was a giant catfish living underground that had gotten out from under the boulder the gods kept him trapped under.
