Wanted to start playing guitar, and I wanted to try and and learn to play something easy but still kind of interesting. Any suggestions?

But still interesting. OK, I guess that rules out Smoke on the Water. Although it is easy.

I'm gonna call it first. Smoke on the water by Deep Purple.
I don't play guitar and even I know that's easy.

First one I learned was Knockin' on Heaven's door. Three chords (or four if you want to alter between C and Am). Check it out.

Johnny Cash's version of Hurt is also a nice beginner song. Simple but also really nice to play.

Yes, Smoke on the Water is quite simple.

However, Stairway to Heaven is notorious (or famous) for being the simplest guitar song of all time.

Yep, every person who I know who plays guitar looks down on it as pathetically easy. Shame really...

i never really liked that song as you only do G, D, C it doesnt really sound like the song it could be just about anything its the rest of the instruments that give the song its shape as it where

Nirvana is a good place to start, almost all of it.

Wipeout by the Beach Boys is easy and fun.

What kind of music do you like? You don't really want to be playing stuff you don't care about.

I first learned The Weight by the Band, Heart of Gold by Neil Young, and Knocking on Heavens Door by Bob Dylan.

Smoke on the water and Stairway both have very nice solos, and they aren't easy. But most people don't actually learn a whole song, they just learn the main riff and start going on about how it's a piece of cake. I recommend this site, the first section is for beginners and the songs taught there use only chords in the 1st position - http://www.justinguitar.com/en/ST-000-SongsTAB.php

That's because it is. Especially considering there are multiple ways to play it and get the same sound.

If you like the song, Just LIke You by Three Days Grace. I taught my mom how to play it in under 10 minutes.

you realise theyve taken the tabs off that right and its quite difficult to learn a song by watching as there fingers usually get in the way of the important stuff
