Personally, I think it's looking good. The video posted in this thread made the gameplay look mediocre, but hey, it's not out yet.
I liked the spoofing of JRPG's, though Matt's own comments on it wasn't that great. Except for the part where he said "Sigh..."

well with such trophies as hey you actually turned the game on and hey you watched the credits that does not bode well for the game

I agree, there is a ridiculous amount of games with the exact same macho character type.

the industry is ripe for satire... i'm sure the game will be funny, but whether or not it's actually any fun will remain to be seen....

A part of me wants to buy this game solely because I want to beat it, see the credits roll, and at the very end have something like

"Matt Hazard will return in...

MATT
HAZARD
INFINITY

Coming 2010!"

Then have the date start climbing...

Matt Hazard Forever would be funnier.....

Some games that actually managed to succeed at being both fun to play and funny at the same time: Timesplitters (all 3), Earthworm Jim, Psychonauts, and KOTOR. I'm sure there are a few others I'm just not thinking of right now, but they are few and far between. Some games are funny, but don't manage to stack up in the gameplay department.

The problem I forsee is the lack of replayability. The jokes may be funny the first time through. How funny are they going to be if you get stuck and end up playing the same part a septillion times? And you know release day youtube will have every funny moment up and out there for all to enjoy. From what I have seen the gameplay is fairly generic. I am sure Blockbuster and the likes will be rolling in dough when the game drops but I doubt alot of people will be willing to drop 60+ bucks on it. Especially when RE5, Damnation and Star Ocean are dropping around the same time.

i personally cant wait for this game, i watched a live demo of this game on X-Play, and as an old school gamer, i just cant wait for something like this to give the industry a shot in the arm.

I watched the footage of the Japanese RPG Hero boss fight, and if the game is as well written as that scene, there's nothing to worry about.
