Eating meat (Particularly cooked meat.) was a big part of our evolution. It allowed us to develop large brains and evolve into the humans we are today.

To go back on that, just seems like lunacy really. We're the top predator, it's basically our purpose to eat other animals and gain sustenance from it.

Humans are omnivores. We eat both meat and veggies. We were made to. Plus, it tastes good to me.

Vitamin B12. If you don't eat meat, you don't get any, and you eventually die. Also, sometimes you just need to chomp down on a nice, juicy steak for the simple reason that it tastes good, but the whole B12 thing is what really destroys vegan logic.
There are plenty of vegan safe B12 products.

In and of itself, there's no upsides or downsides specific to eating meat.
Eating meat?
Upside = Heightened scenes, better diet, not defying nature... (look at your canine teeth)
Downside = It's ageist forum rules to state what I want to state...

I'd like to imagine there's an upside to eating anything btw, you know, like not being hungry?

Let me quote Denis Leary on that.
Denis Leary said:
You will eat the meat. You wanna know why, because not eating meat is a decision. Eating meat is an instinct. And you don't want to be the kind of person that enters a restaurant get this " What do you want to eat sir? BROCCOLI?" Broccoli's a side dish, always had been, always will be.

Something that tastes AND feels good. I can think of a few things that do that :p

OT: I'm a vegan, but if you like the taste of meat, that's a positive, I guess.
I'm still thinking of bacon...
I'm starting to feel like the only meat lover that hates bacon and that "stuff" you call Hotdogs

ribs are great though!
and steak, and fish, and crab, and chicken, and turkey, and human, and ham, and lamb, and... *list goes on*

(now I wait for a "wait, WHAT?!" quote)

It spares you from having to eat your vegetables.
Come on, what kid hasn't complained about having to eat vegetables?

Meat tastes good, and there is no way live without taking life. Minimizing how much you take is always a good thing, (I really don't care for sport hunters) but plants are alive just like animals, and I'm not quite ready to die so they can live. Make of that what you will vegans, but if you are still alive you have taken plenty of life yourself and have thus lost the moral high ground.

We are omnivore, no different to any other omnivore animals (well ok we are different in many way compre to other).

Also I think it was in that documentary "Walking with Cavemen" that it was a step up in evolution when a caveman decide to eat meat. The extra protein provided more brain power, making them intelligent (slowly). So it's thanks to the cavemen who ate the meat what we are today.
I think that how it went so I don't exactly remember it.

Why not?

There needs to be an extremely valid reason to actually stop eatinq meat.
Nah there really doesn't.
1. Bioloqically able to diqest meat
2. Body needs nutrients contained naturally only in meat
3. It tastes qood
4. Less valid reason, but most cultures widely eat meat

so unless you were born not eatinq meat there needs to be a valid loqical reason to deprive the body of necessary nutrients usinq a method that has worked for tens of thousands of years
I've never eaten meat and i'm healthier then most people. I suspect it might not be as vital as you think.
Well I'm guessing you drank milk as a baby, and milk comes form an animal resource, and the base chemicals of milk is more or less the same as blood, and blood is in meat.

Plus I find it HIGHLY unlikely that you've NEVER eaten meat.

I on the other hand do eat meat and veggies, one of the healthiest people in the area (minus my weight problem... [I'm like 40 lbs. under weight for my height/age... I'm a walking rail])

Recently I've been devouring steak or seasoned chicken each night, and each lunch I eat a head of lettuce and a box of croutons. Breakfast is generally 3 or 4 PBJ's or 2 Bagels with cream cheese. I drink milk like crazy! (and I'm caffeine free)

Well... I guess... But, there are some things even tastier and more fun!

Ah who am I kidding. You carnivores love your damn bacon coo much :p
we are not carnivores as the human body can not survive on a diet of pure meat and if i were a carnivore i'd have to live without bread and god knows i can't live without at least 4 sandwiches a day. my personal love of meat is that it is never to juicy like some fruits and vegetables i've had (tomato in particular) and has a great taste as well is amazingly filling as well meat can be added to salads and and vegetables can be eaten with meat to create a rather nice combination of flavors stew is a great example of that (god do i love stew).

why would i discard such a wonderful part of the human diet sure it has more fat in it than veggies but the human body needs a certain amount of fat to work properly and with a decent amount of exercise the fat won't stay on the body.

I'll keep my clothing, antibiotics, etc. I don't find anything wrong or negative in "defying nature". I don't think I'd be here now if it weren't for "unnatural intervention". As for the other two, nothing to say but "citation needed".

And where does the B12 in those vegan safe products come from? Because the only natural source for it is meat. Either it's somehow made in a lab, which seems antithetical to the ideals of veganism, or it involved an animal at some point down the line, which is, by definition, not vegan safe. To put it in perspective, as scary as hot dogs are, I find those vegan chicken patties that somehow mimic the taste and texture of the actual meat much, much scarier.

[sub]Also, nice stealth edit. The message I got for being quoted seems to be the only permanent copy of your original response, which you apparently realized was patently wrong before I started to write my response.[/sub]

It's derived from bacteria. Not in labs because it's already well researched, it happens on an industrial scale.

I also wasn't patently wrong, but it could have been misleading. There are many forms of vitamin B12 that are converted within the body. The B12 you get from bacteria is different from meat.

Yeh i drink milk, however milk is taken without harming the animal. When i was a kid most of the milk in the house came from my grandfathers dairy farm, and he treated those animals like members of the family. (They even had names).

You can disagree with me all you like but don't assume i'm a lier without getting to know me first. I have never eaten meat, that's the truth.

I'm not going to argue with you about which of us is tougher but I can hold my own against alot of martial artists who are alot more experienced then I am(never mind regular people).

Yeh i never tough caffeine either, or alcohol (I just don't like it, i'm not making a statement or anything).

I didn't call you a liar I just said it was unlikely.
as for who's tougher, probably you, as for who's faster probably me (not saying one's better, I've just been a sprinter all my life and can go full speed until my asthma kicks in)

I wasn't saying the animals got "harmed" through milk, there's just a lot of vegetarians I know who claim that "they won't consume anything with blood in it" which is where the milk thing comes from, it's kinda like liquid meat if you think long enough... and eww at my own thought.

I've never had alcohol (partly because I'm 18 not 21) but I don't really care to have it, mainly because the smell alone makes me sick to my stomach. Caffine, well, I'm the only person in this area who's NOT dependent on it and thusly the only person who can stay up past 11:00PM without a "monster" (in fact I can stay up past that while on cammamile tea... it's just tougher)

As for me, and call me evil if you want but, the animals already dead... we're meant to eat meat... my only problem with meat is the way 90% of the animals we eat are raised and treated... (if you don't know what I'm talking about, watch "Food Inc.")

being in this area of california our milk and cheese is from actual cows (like your dairy farm from the sound of it) rather then the cooped up harvested ones.

Killing an animal that's near death to consume it after giving it a happy life... I can see someone pulling something spiritual out of that, but I just see it as things going along, at least it was happy rather then you know, part of some huge machine that force-feeds GMO's

Ack I've started ranting, I'll stop now before this becomes too long

I have nothing ageist vegetarians, it's their choice, the only thing I ask is that they don't hate me and call me an animal murderer for eating meat... because if they're like that they have bigger fish to fry (no pun intended)

Ha ha, don't worry my friend i don't think you're evil. Obviously i don't agree with you on a lot of things but you seem like a good person. I don't like that animals are killed for food but it's sort of built into society that that's the way it is and frankly i'm not willing to fight people over it. (In spite of how much i love animals, people are still higher on my list of priorities) As you say i have bigger fish to fry.

On a separate note, I'm asthmatic as well so i'm just going to recommend that if you try yoga, or aikido or both, you'll find it rediculously useful for improving your lung strength. It really helped me, I mean i almost never have complaints about my asthma anymore.
