If you've been on the Internet for longer than 2 minutes, most likely you've had something that you enjoyed trashed by other random users for a variety of reasons. On the other side of the coin, you've probably had something you personally didn't like proclaimed to be thesecond seventh coming of Jesus himself.
To bring in some ethical thinking for a second (why yes, I am in an ethics/philosophy class thankyouverymuch), there's a theory that was proposed by William David Ross about intuitionism. To put it in the simplest of simple terms, you basically have various "duties" and you pick the most important of those to you to guide your actions.
To me, it seems like you could apply a similar way of thinking to what you like/dislike. You break it down to various qualities (music, design, story, etc.), decide which ones you find most important and that helps explain more how you feel about it.
Of course, that makes things a LOT more subjectiveand we can't have that which makes things a lot more interesting. I've enjoyed some bad movies and disliked other good ones because of what I personally find enjoyable. But that means everything can have different enjoyable factors for different things at different times which complicates the matter more.
