Because I'm waiting with bated breath for Deus Ex: Human Revolution, I've been playing through the original DE, and I'm hungering for more. I was never really a PC gamer (mostly due to the fact that I never had a decent rig), but I'd like to explore some good older titles that'll run on my laptop without me having to dice the settings into confetti.

What are some good FPS/RPG games that you guys like and would recommend? Or, hell, just good PC titles (outside of Diablo 2, because I need to do things with my life on occasion right now)

Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines
System Shock 2
Fallout 3
Fallout: New Vegas
Borderlands
Bioshock
Stalker

The first 2 are pretty old and should run on whatever machine you have.

Not FPSes but the Mass Effect series and Alpha Protocol are very Deus ex-ey shooter/RPGs.

The FEAR 1 games don't take much
Oh and get Portal.
You are not allowed to call yourself a PC gamer till you play it.

Bioshock and Borderlands jump into my mind first (especially Bioshock).

If you can tolerate Fallout's glitches (which I personally couldn't, although I was playing the PS3 version), then that's good too.

Those are no where near FPS-RPGs. Besides, Portal wasn't that good of a game either.

I've already gone through Borderlands (twice), Bioshock, and definitely Portal. I've tried several times to play Fallout 3, but I just can't get into it. I'll get about 5 hours in and just lose interest. Not sure why.

Stalker and VTM: B interest me. I think I'll give those a look. Thanks guys.

Get Daikatana, it's an expert FPS.
Ha ha ha. Shoo troll.

OT: I have to agree with Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines and System Shock 2. SS2 will literally run on anything (my netbook will run it with a software renderer and only 1 cpu up).

Titan Quest.

Like Diablo II, but much better. It's also from the makers of Diablo, or someone anyways has something to do with Diablo. You'll love it. One mentionable feature is that you can choose two classes (from about 8), to mix together, so you can have a fire elemental-warrior, a defender-rogue, nature-cold elemental, and so on... and use the skills of both classes.

This is a fantastical list.

I'd also like to add KotOR 1 and 2, Starcraft and Starcraft: Brood War, Warcraft 3 and Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne, and Age of Empires 2: Gold Edition.
Everything other then KotOR is an RTS, though, so if they aren't your cup of tea, don't get them.

If you want fps, play some unreal tournament and if you really want your nuts kicked, play some warsow. Morrowind is also a wonderful rpg and it happens to be my favorite game of all time :D. It should pretty much run on anything anyone has nowadays.

No, this list is like poisoned diamonds.

If you ever tried to play through that list end to end, yours would be one of the many thousands of skeletons in the dungeons. There's so much gaming there, it's insane.

I've spent thousands of hours on those and I've only played five, as well as everything you've just added. Best stuff ever made.

A lot of people recommending straight up RPGs here and not FPS-RPGs.

Really, the only good ones that are any good are:
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines - as numerous people have mentioned.
Fallout 3 (second favorite game of all time)
Fallout New Vegas (I haven't even finished it yet, but it seems pretty good)
Borderlands (if the ideal RPG part of FPS-RPG is a Diablo type RPG in your mind)

And, bah, I still have to try STALKER sometime.

A blurb at the end of the op says to really just recommend anything good in general. Kinda makes you wander what the point of the title was then.

Just make sure you get the Immortal Throne expansion with it. TQV's multiplayer is rather deserted, and the expansion adds some much needed features (like item storage.)

Vampire the Masqerade Bloodlines. $20, Steam, everyone reading this buy it now, patch 7.3. There's a LOT more RPing and story in VtmB than in modern crap.

Also if you can get it to work, System Shock 2 is also fucking fantastic. Getting it to work on modern OSs can be an absolute nightmare.
