Still going through the legendery edition of Skyrim that i got for ?10 on the steam sale. I see Online being reviewed now, is anybody playing it? Is it any good?

I want to get it, but i keep hearing "APB" and "DC Universe" at the back of my head. Is it worth the money?

Just wait for it to be free to play or something, you really dont need to buy it and then still keep paying them monthly (with microtransactions).

If you really need to play an MMO I am sure there are plenty out there that dont try to eat your wallet as much.

Wait at last couple, maybe few months until they iron out the worst bugs and such to even consider it. If you're patient enough, wait for possible free to play and possibly cheaper subscription - Zenimak will go the way of SWTOR and put nearly everything behind paygate with almost complete certainty, rendering subscription better option by then.

As everyone else has said, just wait. The download free option will be up in less than a year, and then you can sub all you want.

I, personally, don't see the point of a MMO outside of already established sub services like WoW. What they have works, and it works so well that they have a bit of a monopoly on the genre. Most of the other mmos out there have had to go F2P in a rather short amount of time. They need to start as free to play, and save themselves the trouble of overhalling everything a year later.

Though I never wanted a elder scrolls mmo. I wanted a port to newer consoles of skyrim... and loads more dlc.

Wait for it to go b2p or f2p. Its not worth 60 bucks and a monthly fee. Thats the only way ill ever play it and only because i love the elder scrolls series. Though i wish they hadnt wasted the time or money on making eso and focused on a new next gen single player elder scrolls.

Maybe wait till a sale, but it's really not that bad of a game. You can play it solo if you're not a fan of PUG's or if you don't mind playing with randoms then you'll be fine doing almost all of the content since the majority of it seems to be solo focused and easy to do. The only things I've found that need more than one person are world bosses, dungeons and World Anchors, none of which you have to do.

Not sure why there's such a hate on for the game and why everyone wants it to crash and burn like its some form of Hitler, but I'm loving it. Yes there are a decent amount of bugs but that's to be expected seeing as how it's not even a month old yet. The bots can be a tad annoying but Zenimax is doing a rather good job banhammering them and the moment you ignore one it ignores all his alts since you ignore the entire account. Yes it's pay to play and you have to buy it first, but honestly I would rather have that than a free to play game any day. They just seem better than your average and even higher quality free to play games since they don't have to rely on an in game cash shop. They have guaranteed revenue as opposed to "maybe" revenue, then they usually have a god awful pay-wall and try to hide stuff behind it so you're gently "coerced" into paying for it.

I have no idea about this "micro-transaction" thing as it's not actually in game and as far as I know it has two options, the standard CE upgrade and if you're too lazy to spend a few hours farming for a horse you can buy one, but in no way shape or form is it even needed. My friends and I have the CE and I'm the only one out of 5 people that even uses the damn thing anyway.

At the end of the day it's your money, I would say at least watch some YouTube videos that show off the game-play
and if it tickles your fancy grab it from GMG or something. I know I got the CE for the price of the standard edition and I could have grabbed the standard edition for around $40, so not a bad deal if they ever decide to have it again.

That's not fair. There were MMOs before World of warcraft. Wow just made it more accessible. Add to already having an established fan base with 3 warcraft games and YEARS of polish and you get a solid game. The problem is that everyone is trying to copy and steal Wows flair ( which i think is dwindling not sure).

The reason i wouldn't suggest WoW to annyone NOW, is because there is so much lore and story to get into that it ms overwhelming by a story standpoint. If someone was to get into it now, they would miss a lot of the story . It's why i like suggesting new MMOs because you have time to experience the story so the game doesn't become" do quest x because reasons you don't understand".

OT: i personally don't think TES:O is a good game . I really don't . They have great pvp , but everything else is kind of lackluster. I cant even say it was a valiant effort, it seems they just wanted to get a peice of the MMO pie too late. See people would like to have multiplayer in skyrim . A mode with 2-8 players would suffice in my opinion. But an MMO has it's own rules. And those rules don't really translate well to a game like TES.

Edit:
Here is angry joe's review of the game. If you still want to buy the game after watching this then go for it.

Thanks guys. I actually used the forum search function before i posted this, then totally saw the poll after it was up.

I rarely ever buy games new now, i think Europa universalis 4 was the last one i bought new due to a recommendation. MMOs are different as they can go quiet very quick.Having racked up 80+ hours on skyrim i could've gotten into the MMO if it was cheaper, or if it was the Nutz.

Hold out and check back in a couple of months...Sounds like a plan.

They make more money from initial sales than they would from decades of running the game as free to play.

Well I'd say see how they handle the whole dupe bug fiasco that's the big news as of late. Something in the world is probably going to change cause of it least.

Does the "farm few hours for a horse" mean killing the odd 42,000 bosses for one gold piece each? Because it's just ridiculous.

not until they slash all $$ by half ie. $22+$8/month. I played the beta and it is definitely not a $45+15/month game.

Parts of it are very well done, but other parts of it, such as how they've handled banks and the auction houses, as well as how some objects in the world are instanced and others aren't, really make me wonder how much thought was put into some of the design process. There also seems to be a serious lack of communication between the devs and the players, and having one of the worst forum designs I've ever seen doesn't help that out.

I can easily recommend it to someone who wants to romp around in Tamriel, however, since they did get the look and feel just right for the actual gameplay, and the layout and design of the world feels very Elder Scrolls. I just hope they can get the rough edges worked out before it starts to cost them players.

I'd wait if I were you. I've seen a couple of things that worry me along with the fact that from what I've seen first-hand, it's just not DONE. My cousin showed it to me and not only are huge swathes of land missing outright from Tamriel but there is NO Assassin's or Thieves guilds at ALL.

Also, I've seen that you have to give 30 days notice to cancel your subscription or it'll be auto-renewed.

I beta tested that shit and it is not worth it .. the masses of players just totally breaks the immersion... also stealing stuff is no longer a option

if you like the feel of skyrim don't bother you will be dissaponted

I purchased the game and am unsure if it was a good decision. The landscapes are amazing, the crafting is better than most other MMOs I've played, and the gameplay is leagues beyond what other MMOs have accomplished, but it's extremely repetitive and the combat isn't sufficiently engaging to mask the repetition. If you're okay with grinding, I recommend it, but otherwise give it a pass.

Take a look at Angry Joe's review to further gauge your opinion of the game.

Agree, For a show that's called Angry Joe, he always manages to give a rather balanced opinion.
He doesn't just hammer on the bad things, even in shitty games he will complement the soundtrack if it's good.

As for E.S.O. my friend is determind to buy it for himself and give me a copy for my birthday, so we can play together.
So I'm actually going to give it the benefit of the doubt for the first month (free) and then decide if I want to put in another 10 euro.

My advice, try to get hold of a Wildstar open beta key, being given away like crazy now from lots of websites. ESO isn't worth it in my opinion.

I've not played it myself but watched a friend play it and it's just a buggy broken mess with all the same gameplay problems of Skyrim. Poor drops, terrible combat mechanics, really poor animation, poor leveling system...not to mention rape as a payment method. The quests are tedious and lack imagination and not even the graphics can claw back any ground.

In short, it's just another poorly executed mess that was made to lure in fanboys with hope rather than reality
