Oh god. The birch forest. It's mind-numbing in its beauty. I don't think I can take the wait.
I liked that picture the most. The nature looks so homely and familiar, for a change.
Yeah. It reminds me of a special place up in Northern Norway where I used to go fishing with my family. We'd have to make our way up a mountain, through a birch forest; and finally we would reach the water. I remember that particular water very well. It was almost always completely still, not a movement on the surface, and the surrounding mountains were reflected flawlessly in it.

Let me get this straight... You fight dragons but you are part one? Sounds like a Divinity II rip off. Way to reach a new low of plagiarism, Todd.
Drakengard did that before Divinity II.
Way to reach a new low for Divinity then?
And what about Blade? The marvel character.

What Omnific one said.

Holy hell, those screenshots look beautiful!
Ok, praise out of the way, let's talk frankly: Oblivion looked incredibly beautiful on screenshots, and we know how that turned out. I would advise caution until we know if 1) the animations are fixed, 2) There are more than 2.5 voice actors, 3) That the quests are better, 4) That the magic system is improved, and 5) That the main story isn't one long fetch quest. Caution -> no disappointment should it suck.

I think they actually pulled it off. Just have to wait until November to find out.

Really? More Dragons?

How dull. One company does something (whoever did it first is unimportant)and then the entire industry suck the idea right down to the marrow.

It seems that no one working in games has any ideas other than Zombies and Dragon. Piracy isn't killing the games industry, it's unimaginative developers.

...And what is it with the constant "go KILL dragons" storylines? I've always prefered my Dragons intelligent and machiavellian... not just flying fodder.

So Skyrim is just going to be a big dead world, with fed ex questing, the same cut and paste dungeons (although here it looks like valleys, to get away from the snow), crap voices, levelling for idiots, laughable respresentations of people ........ and dragons....... is this supposed to be attractive in someway?

It might look ok (generallly, although snow becomes very boring, very quickly) but that's no reason to buy a 'GAME'..Bethesda's Oblivion type of gameplay (and seeing as it was the most popular of the franchise they're not about to change it that much) sucked so much ass, it bored me to tears.

To everyone hoping for more of a Morrowind feel.....lol.. No. Games developers have never evolved a dumber gameplay then reversed that decision.
I admire your ability to infer everything about a game's characters, gameplay and content and judge its overall quality from 7 screenshots alone.

From the sound of things, I wouldn't put it past them to make some intelligent dragons.
The Actuall canon and story of the elserscrolls universe states that yeah......The dragons are really smart, some even know human speech to a point. the only reason they werent in oblivion is because they were hunted to extinction and thought to be long gone, and apparently they found refuge in skyrim....for a time. This game....is going to be awsome..........sauce

I don't know the lore myself; but I did think the dragons in the elder scrolls were probably intelligent (mostly due to the bit with Martin at the end of Oblivion). So it seems my gut feeling might have been right. Imagine if you could yield and talk to the dragons... That'd be weird.

There are some more scans here [http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/ey5ql/the_skyrim_scans_are_here/].

From what I've seen, it looks like Skyrim is going to have:
-More voice actors and no more zooming in on people's faces
-A more visceral combat system (shield bashing!)
-Refined magic system
-Fallout 3 style level scaling and perks

I think we have a winner on our hands here folks.

Environments look really nice but then so did Oblivion's. They're going to have to do a fair few things to make it of interest to me:

1. Remove the crappy levelling system from the last game. All armour and weapons should be theoretically available straight from the beginning, just hard to get. I never understood the deal with getting iron and steel armour only until you were a high level (also, steel didn't seem to offer more protection than iron but was a FUCKLOAD heavier).

2. More voice actors!

3. Hire a decent animation team. The animation in the previous game was abysmal.

4. Make the combat actually fun.

5. Build a beautiful world, then FILL IT WITH THINGS TO ACTUALLY DO. Oblivion's world looked lovely but felt empty and pointless.

That's because the fiction has been clear on the point that the dragons were banished thousands of years ago.
No it bloody hasn't. The only mention of dragons in the last couple thousand years (ie, the length of the timeline) has been of dragons operating normally as Akaviri war mounts or servants of the Empire.

And if they retcon the Dragonborn thing into a biological bloodline like they tried to do with the Septim emperors I will send them a letter bomb.

And have they replaced Thu'um with Dragon Speak now?

I liked that picture the most. The nature looks so homely and familiar, for a change.
Is this irony? Help me out.

I'd have to see it in motion. Oblivions and Fallout 3 had terrible animations, I hope they fix that.

Let me get this straight; You've seen a handful of pictures, and maybe the trailer. Despite the fact that we barely know anything about this game at time of writing, you've written a laundry list of complaints about it anyway. Begone, troll.
