So,

Someone tried to explain to me the difference between the 3 and i wanna see if i got it right.
England is the southern part of the island (minus Wales)
Britain is the whole main island
The United Kingdom is the island plus northern Ireland

Is that it ?

England is a bit more than just the south, here have a look at the lines.

About the only thing missing is that some people also see Cornwall as a separate country and there are islands in the British isles like Jersey and the Isle of man that are not part of the UK but are protectorates.

Thought I'd just throw this in here:

Also, I'm from Wales, and if you haven't been you don't know what you're missing. Cardiff is an awesome city! And the countryside is wonderful too if you manage to avoid the rain (unlikely to be honest). ;)

Here's a fact for you...

Scotland, Wales and N.Ireland all have their own parliaments and are able to make certain laws without any interference by England.

However, England is the only country in the UK that does not have its own government, as Westminster is made up of all UK MP's. (this is called the west lothian question.)

Sorry, I know it's kind of dull but I have 5 years and £30,000 worth of higher education and the only place I get to utilise it, is filling out forms when I sign on for job seekers allowance every two weeks.....

Gower on the S.coast of Wales (near Swansea) has THE best campsite in the world. Best weekend getaway I ever had.

now for extra credit tell us who hates who
Basically everybody hates the English and the English just feel a false sense of superiority over everybody else. Hating the English is the bond shared by all Irish, Scottish and Welsh people. Its been bred into us for centuries. And before you ask i'm Irish.

It makes sense though, the Great to be sure there's no confusion (and hey, GB used to be great ;) )
Hey...what do you mean used to be? *Takes a look around* Shit, you're right, we'd better go and invade some poor fuckers and be quick about it, (without those trigger happy cousins of ours), since that seems to be what qualifies as being "Great" on an international scale.
I hear the Faulklands are open again!

Here you go matey.

Also notice the areas labeled "Yorkshire and Humber", "north east" and "north west" (in descending order of awesomeness).

This is the North. It is known for its grimness. And darkness.

People from overseas should be aware that the north is the best part of England. It is also even less like the stereotype of England than the south. This is fact, and enforced with violence.
You are esentialy correct however....

There is something i feel i should point out. Yorkshire actualy declared independace some time ago, it was never ratified tho but theres still some thoeretical debate over the matter.

as a further point. (some what more serious)

The comonwealth.
these are countries which owe alleigance to our queen, but arent ruled directly by our government, most of our former colonies come under this category (eg australia, canada) unless they have been granted independance. (eg america, india)

Well, technically the UK is Britain, Northern Ireland, and all of her Colonies, which, with the exception of a few islands near Austraila (I believe) is pretty much limited to the British Isles minus that break away reagion of Ireland.

That one i knew ;) I'm Canadian and our head of state is still the queen (even though she has zero decisional power, the PM has it all) she also has her face on our money :)
