Damn, he was going to need more alcohol to get through the night. Or sleep. That might help.
"I don't mind the cold. Reminds me of home, really..."
Christ, was he ever going to forget his past? Well, here goes trying!

"So," He started as he began re-assembling his pistol.
"Are you guys from around here?"

"Meh you get use to the damn cold after a time but it doesn't make it anymore comforting. As for running well I've been running for years, ether for work, war or leaving Ireland due to... unforeseen reasons." Ana said craving some Guinness.

"What I wouldn't give for a pint of Guinness." Ana said sitting back even more. "Oh not meaning to be rude I'm Ana." she added then looked at Gar.

"I was born in Ireland and move to England. Part of the Irish army before leaving home then joined MI6 a few years later." Ana said sitting back more and pulled out a cigarette.

Gar picked up his bottle of scotch and took a short swig from it. Before replacing his bottle on the make-shift table/door, he felt the room shimmer and he tilted to the side a bit before regaining balance once again.
Woah...
He looked at the bottle and noticed he'd already drunken 3/4 of the damn thing.
"Here.."
Gar handed Ana the bottle and steadied his elbow on the 'table' as he used his left hand to brush the sides of the 9mm with the cloth.

"Name's Gar, btw. And I won't be needing that anymore so you might as well keep it. If I'm going to survive my memories, I'm going to have to do it without alcohol since there's not so much to go around these days, ya know?"
His accent had turned mostly British by now, not really a hint of American in it. And a touch of Irish was slipping in with each passing word.
"Anyway. I'm going to get some shut-eye. My senses aren't the sharpest and if I'm first on the scouting list, then I'd better get some rest before headin' out."

Gar slowly stood and gave a court bow toward Ana and a two-finger wave to Thomas. Then, as if not bearing his legs for a minute longer, he stumbled toward his bunk and crashed on the pillow.

Off for now. I'll post in the morning, but if anything important happens, Liz, feel free to control my character until I'm back.

Thomas turned to Ana after watching Gar crash. He couldn't blame him, he wanted to do the same thing.

"Seems like alcohol is in more demand than oil these days." He fingered his empty flask inside his coat pocket and then pulled out a lighter and a cigarette. After starting his, he held the lighter, offering it to her.

"I was in Spain filming a movie when this shit all started. Ever since then I've been running. Paris fell, then Normandy. Ended up here and got a job as a reporter for the BBC while the Americans were gearing up for the invasion. When they landed, I just couldn't stay uninvolved anymore, you know?"

That and it was about time I payed them back. I haven't forgotten about what happened in Cadiz you bastards!

He took a big breath and waited for her to say something.

"A good drop a booze is worth more then a drop of oil anyway. Something to numb the pain of lose or war. Comfort means more then shit running well." Ana said the took his offer for a light. "Thanks Thomas." Ana said taking a quick drag then let it out slowly before taking a swig of what was left of the scotch.

"To think before all of this happened I was living a better life then this. I was in London in am up town apartment then every thing went to shit." Ana said trying to hold back her anger.

Thomas scowled, clenching his fist.

"Those God Damn Americans, thinking they can take what isn't there's by right of might. You know, I used to believe that the people who lived there were running the country. Well, its rather obvious that the military is on the corporate leash."

He finished his cigarette.

"Quite frankly I hope China can pin them down. You hear about the fighting in Japan?"

I wonder if my friends there escaped. We had good times filming whales and sealife. Bet all the high explosives they've been firing at the island has killed everything.

Thomas sighed. "This whole world is going straight to hell."

Damn these timezone differences are killing my chances to interact with people. This sucks. Anyways, I'm gonna finagle the order of events of when you said hey to her Jav3lin.

Entering the barracks, a man shouted over to her. He was surrounded by a young woman and a nother man, and they seemed to be chatting up and drinking. Guess we're all tradin' names now. Probably for the better I introduce myself too.

She strolled over to the small group and interrupted their conversation. "Evenin' mates. Name's J'aime, but family calls me Babs. Seeing as we'll be bunking with each other for a while that makes us a lot like family. Ya' might wanna cut back on the grog and fags though. I may be the best stitch you ever met, but I ain't Christ."

Gar's handgun caught J'aime's attention, casting a prick of nervousness in her. She was still not used to being around weapon, particularily ones that had most likely killed other humans. The most she had ever been around guns was down under hunting with some buddies. Even then she was a ball of jitters and couldn't hit the back side of a parked car. She held her head eye level, trying her best to avoid noticing if the others were armed.

Thomas smiled faintly.

"An Aussie huh? I haven't seen one of you in a few years. How'd you end up getting here? I myself got herded here when France fell."

Damn, she's a good looking one. A different time, a different place... Maybe...

He mentally pushed away those feelings as he offered a cigarette.

"Smoke?"

He couldn't help but feel a little paranoid about talking though. He just sounded so damn American. He didn't have much of a Spanish accent seeing as he had only been filming for a month.

I'll have to pull out of the conversation in about an hour. Also does anyone know about that OOC group some people were thinking of making?

Katrina entered the barracks to be greeted by the smell of cigarette smoke. Her nose twitched; while she disliked the stuff, she had nothing against smoking or those who did it. She followed a small, quickly-dissipating cloud into a room where a man and two women sat talking, a second guy having just flopped down on a bunk, judging by the fact that said bunk was flexing slightly under his weight.

"Hi," she said a little timidly, sitting on one of the few unclaimed bunks a short distance away from the others. "Um... I'm Katrina."

"Hi," said Thomas.

At least when I die I'll be in good company.

"where are you from?"

Nobody seemed to be overly hostile here. Maybe the boat he had arrived on had just been full of bitter, defeated men. No one seemed to care where he was from, all that mattered was that he was here to fight. The thought comforted him a little.

Ana took another larger drag and let it out. "Yea I did but honestly I'm more worried about our arses. Damn American's starting shit for their own need." she said growling some then looked over at Babs and Katrina. "Nice to meet both of you I'm Ana Kelly." she said taking another drink of the booze.

"I learned ages ago you have to look out for the arse that are going to save yours. Time in the military will teach you that." she said putting her feet on the make shift table.

Christoph stepped into the barracks quietly under the sound of conversation. During his search for an unclaimed bunk, he managed to accidentally waltz in on a conversation between a timid-looking woman whom he had caught the name of, Katrina, and a group of three others. Knowing conversation was inevitable, Christoph decided to start it on his own terms. "Hello," he said curtly, his voice distinguished by a thick German accent.

J'aime pushed the cigarette away lightly shaking here head. "DAMN RIGHT I'M AUSSIE! Proud one too, but keep the fag. If all hell's breaking loose I don't want to be the dimwit in the back hacking his lungs up. Anyhoo, I was only here to get my mum back home. Then one thing led to another, and now I'm your meddy."

Another woman walked up and introduced herself sheepishly. "Oh g'day there Katrina."

J'aime had noticed Thomas looking her down, and now he was eyeing the latest addition to the conversation. "Done enough perving there, or you gonna ooggle the ones pointing guns at you too?"

Katrina looked round at J'aime's comment to Thomas. The Australian woman seemed to be a little forward in her speech, unlike herself in the situation at hand. To answer Thomas's question, she said, "Oh, um, I was born and raised here in London. Not much else to say about that." Her eyes flickered over to the other woman a couple of times, Ana as she had introduced herself.

It seemed that everyone else in the station that Katrina had met possessed some form of combat experience, while she was just a semi-broke business student who had never held a gun in her life. This made her feel a little more scared than before, scared that she was going to mess up or let the others down somehow, but she pushed it aside. You have to stay focused, she told herself.

Mick nodded at Johann.
"Yeah, guess I'd better start budding up too. Talk to you later mate." He said, as Johann and he parted ways.
After this, however, Mick noticed everyone seemed to be in their own conversations.

Not wanting to interrupt, Mick meandered over to the weapons cache to give it a look.
Arriving, he found Robin inspecting it as well.
There were more weapons than he expected...
"Well, holy shit." Mick exclaimed plainly.

Thomas smiled at the fiery J'aime.

"One glance and you're condemned huh? Well glad to see we've got a fierce fighter among us. And trust me, the only thing I'll be looking for are American faces, so I can put a bullet in between their eyes."

He said this with more aggression than he really felt but he wanted to impress. His moral qualms about taking a human life were catching up with him but he shut them up by turning to Katrina.

"Well, I guess defending one's hometown is important. I'm sure you'll do fine."

He rose and looked at the others.

"I don't know about you guys, but I'm curious to see what they're going to give us to fight with."

He left, heading in the direction of the weapons cache.

I hope I can remember my firearms safety. But I had been just going hunting with a Remington. I know bolt action weapons, not automatic machineguns or grenades or whatever they're going to give us. For the love of god, when is training going to start?

He followed Mike and was shocked by what he saw. Not a single weapon looked even remotely similar to what he was familiar with.

I'm done for the night and won't be around much tomorrow. Night guys :)

Thomas left and headed towards the weapons cache. J'aime turned to the others to say "Well he may be kickin' to shoot some Uncle Sams, but I already have my weapon here." J'aime slipped a thick strip of white cloth out. When she held it up for the others to see, it had a red cross sewn centered on it. "This here means they can't shoot me, and if they capture me they can't hold me as a POW. Sweet deal huh? Sucks I can't palm a gun like the rest of ya' bastards though. I do that and they can shoot me cold."

J'aime's voice was a bit more somber now. "There's more than one way to protect those you care about, and it doesn't always have to be with fists and bullets."

Rufus looked down from the ceiling, and over at the noisy group in the far corner. He paused his music.
"Hey, shortcakes", he said, motioning towards Katrina with his free hand, "If you want to make it out of here alive, and in one piece, I wouldn't stick too close to the glory hounds."
He looked back up at the ceiling, laying back again. "Just saying, anyway..." he mumbled to himself.
Where the bloody hell is Sander when you need something to stop the boredom..

Gar woke up. He'd only received well over a 40 minute sleep, but it was a nap he'd not gotten for a while. Before the officers had arrived a few hours ago, he'd just arrived from London himself. His hands had been full with reports having to go here and there and prisoners of war needed to be executed, and they needed someone to clean up the mess afterward.

"more than one way to protect those you care about, and it doesn't always have to be with fists and bullets."
He stood up and walked over to the table, noticing sweet tobacco smoke and his scotch almost empty.
"Well, a POW or not, you're going to get killed. Cause' it's basically a choice for you. Die in line of fire and hope for a quick death, or starve in a prison, get beaten on every day, and end up getting hanged without audience, without laws and without honor..."
He picked up his 9mm that he'd forgotten on the table and then took his scotch.

Eying his bottle however, he put it down again and walked outside. Some fresh air would get rid of this headache.... hopefully.
He was still a bit hazy and his legs felt like they would collapse, but he wanted to see the ocean. At least for a little bit.

Gar's grim comment irked J'aime. The Americans were after oil, not souls or land. Killing innocent unarmed people was not something they would do nor would it win the war faster. It would only waste precious resources. They may be greedy, but they weren't dumb.

Rotating she followed Gar outside. "For someone who talks about war so much, you don't seem know an awful lot. See, if they kill me, that's one less meddy to heal their troops, and if they get on my bad side I just might not help them. So I'm safe...you though, yeah you're fucked. They wouldn't waste any of their food rations botherin' keeping you kicking. You ask me, I'd say what you said back indoors was more what you'd do to them. You gonna shoot their unarmed meddies too? You gonna slug 'em and tie their noose?"
