I watched the 4-1 hammering that England took against Germany and at first I was angry at the overall poor performance of the England team.

However, after a lot of thinking and a lot of drinking I thought to myself, what if Frank Lampard's goal was official and the score at half time was 2-2. Do you think the whole dynamic of the game would have changed if England was given the goal, or do you think we still would have lost?

It was disgraceful. If the ref had kept his fucking eyes open and seen that blatant England goal (Which everybody in the damn stadium managed to notice), they might have had the right mindset to plough forward to victory. Instead they had the wind taken out of them and Germany just whitewashed us. Hell I felt sorry for David James, working the whole damn defense all by himself most of the time. He was the only guy doing his job properly the whole time.

It made me go "Ahahahahahahaha" and I am English. Man we were pathetic, I actually started routing for the Germans as at least they were fun to watch.

The octopus got it right AGAIN!

I feel this needs more investigation than the game itself.

I lol'd so hard. I really shouldn't though as I'm english but to be honest I wanted them to lost spectacularly as early as possible.

I'm not really a football sort of person so I'm actually glad that we lost, now I can hopefully walk down a street without seeing England flags everywhere and not have to listen to people chant 'come on England!' while drunk.

Dude, they do that every year. It's traditional.

OT: I thought Russian linesmen liked us. Apparently not anymore. [http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2010/8766347.stm]

Yeah, it was a pathetic display, more importantly it should have been a wake up call that goal line tech is necessary and not a waste of time

Eugh the english media. Did anyone count the number of times they talked about 1966 during that game and in general?

If they win they never shut up about it, if they lose they also never shut up about it.

One goal wouldnt have made a difference in a 4-1 defeat.

The better team won, Germany outplayed england. It's still disappointing seeing the likes of johnson, dufoe, gerrard and lampard out of the world cup though.

England deserved to go out in the group stage, it's all very well banging on about Lampard's goal but we were still only one goal behind Germany and we let them get the third and capitulated.

We would have gone into the second half with a different mindset, maybe it would have changed the game slightly, but we played so fucking abysmally it wouldn't have made us win.

Our defence was smegging shocking, and their keeper was solid.

It's pretty simple, if the goal is given it's a totally different game, and I doubt the winning margin is as much.

But England need a serious shake up, and hopefully this will do it for them. Capello will go, and we need a manager not scared to drop our older players.

Congratulations Germany and good luck in the Quarters. As a very passtionate Englishman and a season ticket holder at a Premier League club it's hard to say but, I do actually have a soft spot for you, and I would rather you win this world cup than anyone else. I like the Bundesliga a lot, they have such a great stadium structure and good fans, I also intend to spend some time in Germany in the next few years.

Good luck, all the best!

we can never say how much that decision would have changed the match, Germany did however play better. It's just another arguement for goal line technology

Yes that goal was over the line, and it would've drasticly changed the game in my opinion. but there is nothing we can do now but complain. Bring on the Rugby World Cup!

The team was abysmal, but the thing that really annoyed me was why we have all those goal scoring cameras and then just completely ignore it. Either have it and use it, or don't have it and rely purely on the ref.
