It was obvious that Germany would win from the start but the 2 goals that England scored put me in a hopeful mood, which dropped the second the ref disallowed the goal.
Though I did enjoy the crowd chanting "The referee's a wanker!"

Obviously 4-1 is humiliating for us English but, bad as we were it's important to remember Germany scored their 3rd and 4th on the break - something which probably would have been less likely if the infamous 'goal' was given. After Upson scored England genuinely looked like they could win, but that decision changed the complexion of the game.

Having said that, any team that concedes goals like the first German goal doesn't deserve to win anything. Upson had a shocker, despite his goal, and Barry and Rooney were non-existant.

Frankly, England has played like shit until now, and we deserved to have our shit kicked in. Perhaps it might serve as a wakeup call?

Tell that to the biggest fans who paid to go see them and see how they feel about England after the way they have played in this World Cup, see how big you are then.

What's the problem, they were playing so badly they really didn't deserve to win.

I still would have supported them to be fair but they really didn't deserve any of it this time around.

Germany deserverd the win. They out played us and looked like they wanted it a lot more. For me, our massive failer today lies at the feet of Don Fabio. Just becouse you are good at club football does not automaticly mean you will be good at international football. He was tacticly stuburn and inept and the players played with no conviction. At no point in our national sports future should Stevie G ever be aloud to play on the left. I am thinking after watching Englands three last managers all make the same mistakes and play the the same system if the choice was made above there heads. Lamps and Gerrard can not play together, no matter anybodys opinion. This generation of footballers have failed at an international level and have to make way for new some new blood. Fabio should leave now, his style of football has no place in the modern game and he has shown remarkable and I belive tornent breaking stupidity and inflexability.

Screw you, it's called recognising weakness and not having American levels of ridiculous, patriotic jingoism.

I figure it would have been 2-4 instead of 1-4, not much would have been different.

I'm no fan of team USA, but I find it funny how they were robbed out of a couple goals (one specifically against Slovenia that would have won them the game) and the BBC announcers are like "well, this is the sort of thing that happens bla bla..."
But when the same thing happens to England, it's, "THIS IS WHY FIFA NEEDS REPLAYS GRRR, SMASH!"

I missed the first half because of work, but what I saw in the second half was dreadful play by England. As for the referee who missed a blatant goal, he has previously been banned from tournaments due to 'irregularities'

http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/27062010/58/world-cup-2010-england-blunder-ref-banned.html

Germany were definitely the better side and deserved to go through. It should be a good match against Argentina. I'm just waiting for all the media pressure to be exerted onto Capello, and see whether he jumps before he's pushed.

Because i dont really care about football i'm a twat?

Awesome.

The main reason i'm glad we lost was because im sick of seeing it all over the news, And everyone walking around wearing england suits.

EDIT:

I'm not really a football sort of person so I'm actually glad that we lost, now I can hopefully walk down a street without seeing England flags everywhere and not have to listen to people chant 'come on England!' while drunk.
Yeah, This was what i mean.

We're all busy phoning the police to report that someone appears to have vandalised a national monument and put soundproofing up on Hadrian's Wall.....well it has gone rather quiet over there ^_^

Seriously though, if you ever wonder why we enjoy seeing your national team fail so badly, might I suggest you actually LISTEN to the commentary on ANY international match. Scotland, Wales, NI, England and be it a friendly, a tournament or a qualifier - the media just can't help themselves and be utterly one sided and biased in their commentary. They forget they are broadcasting to 4 countries and not just Eng-er-land. Also, 1966 is ALWAYS mentioned. 3 of the constituent nations of the UK seriously couldn't give a fuck and are bored of hearing it. Especially bad for this are the BBC. I pay my license fee too, am I wrong to expect the BBC to adhere to their remit to provide "quality and unbiased" broadcasts? It's a provision of their remit as a publicly funded broadcaster!

Also, it's hilarious the way the media always make it sound like you've virtually won the bloody thing before you even get there, making afternoons like today even funnier. At least we know we have a pish team and just enjoy it while it lasts.

This is not unique to football though. Examples:

Andy Murray - does well, the media refer to him as a British player. He gets beat, suddenly he's a Scottish Player.

David Coulthard - When he was going well and winning races, he was a Brit. Towards the end of his career and he wasn't so fast, or whenever he hit a dip in form he was Scottish again.

Eddie Irvine - when he was at the top of his form and almost won the F1 championship in '99 he was a Brit. Thereafter when he fell from grace he was always an Ulsterman.

And so on and so on....

People who are laughing over England are idiots.

The blatant goal that the referee apparently 'missed' took England's spirits down. Y'never know if they would've win, but they might have.
You are WRONG! here's the "proof"

I love the way people starts blaming Fabio when we start losing. He got us through the group stages convincingly by using mostly the same players. Frankly they didn't turn up in South Africa and deserved to lose. Sure the goal could have changed the game, but throughout it England's defence was awful. Terry and Upson were all over the place and gave the Germans such easy opportunities and loads of space to score. Fabio may be the manager but he can?t take responsibility for the war crime of a performance the England players showed.

Hey, I didnt say anything about Scotland not even qualifying until a Scottish chap said something about England. I dont even call myself English, I call myself British because I like the sound and dont see the point in making such an unnecessary seperation between myself and someone from Wales or Scotland or Ireland. I also dont watch any sport except the World Cup, for some reason its the only sport I find interesting... unless you count Takeshis Castle as a sport.

Supporting something wether it is doing well or not isnt a good thing, thats giving them praise even if they fail meaning they arent pushed to do better. If they play poorly they dont deserve praise, I even said we didnt deserve to get out of the group as soon as we drew with the US because that team that drew with the US did not deserve to leave the group stage.

The problem lies in that England really should've been motivated anyway. They were only down one, it wasn't some insurmountable lead that pretty much put England out of the game. I mean, if the US can come back from down 2 to tie (or win... *cough*), England should be able to tie while down one. After all, it's FUCKING ENGLAND.

To be fair, Slovenia isn't on the same level as Germany, but the motivation should've still been there. In fact, the disallowed goal should've given them this thing called anger, which can then be used as fuel on the pitch.
