Terry, Gerrard, Lampard, Heskey, Defoe, Crouch etc will be past it, then we get some team players.
Why is Crouch on that list? Could contend with a few others (lampard played ok imo, and im really not one of his fans ¬¬) but crouch? The one who actually scores and serves a role in the team yet is never used and spends 3/4 of his time on the bench in favor of overhyped rooney? The guy who's proved he is definitly a team player by being happy to win the aerial balls and pass it to others so they get the glory?

Meh so the backlash and mindless hate begin T_T
He scores in small games, as much as I like him, he is not a player for big occaisons and Darren Bent should have gone in his place, with Bobby Zamora taking Heskey's place if he were fit.

Germany, for two reasons:
1. I'm mostly German.
2. History tells us that Germany can own England's ass as long as America doesn't step in...
This is true, but don't forget Germany has to be less greedy and not try beating Russia in the same game.
Right because untill America woke up from it's little nap, the Germans were at Brighton pier? Nah read a history book son
Although the Germans hadn't succeeded in the Battle of Britain, they had trashed the navy, cities and some of the air force. Britain definitely wasn't going to succeed without Germany being retarded and attacking Russia. The U.S. tore up Japan, not so much Germany.
They had hardly trashed the navy. and the RAF was still very much in a strong position. I agree that America's main contribution was in Japan and the Pacific, but I also think that if America hadn't joined in, the Allies would have still won the war, but it would have taken longer. So by no means were 'our arses saved'

I'd like to congratulate the German team on thier 4 - 1 Domination of England, now maybe I can go an hour without, "It's coming home" or "Waving Flag" or any other shite football song coming on the radio.

As thanks I'll hand clean everyone who is slightly related to the german teams houses for free

I swear football has to be one of the only things in the world where you can get away with being a fanboy, people are still under the deluded belief the England squad is good. The fact that we could only ever win if the other teams are off form should speak for itself, not to mention we lost to the USA... THE USA FFS! They don't even like 'Soccer'

Our Rugby team is off form right now for the world cup next year, but I still consider them better players then our overpaid drama queen footballers =P

........I suppose they do deserve some congratulations though. If our defence hadn't been completely retarded though, maybe they might have had an actual challenge....

Somewhere in that match there was a great advert for Specsavers :p
Oh my, I WISH Specsavers would get that clip up and use it in an advert. That would be very effective. And hilarious.

£5 says they do a similar one but change the teams around to avoid legal dodges :)

I'd like to post a German propaganda song from WWI that I am quite fond of, which I think fits the occasion rather well:

Lyrics to "Das Engellandlied"

Auf Deutsch:

Heute wollen wir ein Liedlein singen,
trinken wollen wir den kuehlen Wein
und die Glaeser sollen dazu klingen,
denn es muss, es muss geschieden sein.

Gib mir deine Hand, deine weisse Hand,
leb wohl, mein Schatz, lebe wohl, mein Schatz, leb wohl.
Lebe wohl, denn wir fahren, denn wir fahren,
denn wir fahren gegen Engeland, Engeland!

In English:

Today we want to sing a song,
we will drink cooled wine
and we clink the glasses to that,
for it must, it must be done.

Give me your hand, your white hand,
On your health, my love, on your health, my love, on your health.
On your health, for we go, for we go,
for we go to England, England!
That song is hurrendously racist, and not really applicable. In fact i'd go as far to say it insults me.
How on earth is that song racist or indeed offensive?????

I mean, it's barely implied that the Germans are going to invade England. Taken out of its WW1 propaganda context one might think it's a song that German tourists may want to sing if visiting England. Unless i've badly misunderstood your post or something, what's so offensive about Das Englandlied?

Compare that to this English song:
There were ten German bombers in the air
There were ten German bombers in the air
There were ten German bombers, ten German bombers,
there were ten German bombers in the air (2x)

And the RAF from England shot one down
And the RAF from England shot one down
And the RAF from England, the RAF from England,
and the RAF from England shot one down.
And then repeat until there are no German bombers in the air...

England have so much potential, it's sad to see them go down again and again. It's kind of hard to pin down why they fail each time. They have the talent, but I guess the problem is just multiple smaller ones. It's mostly to do with pressure, not having a winning mentality and a lack of spirit.

Germany is showing great team spirit and winning games as a team. They are largely inexperienced (Mueller was playing B-side football only 12 months ago :O) but they have the mental toughness and commitment for their mates.

They seemed to lack all the qualities that made Germany great. Too young, too soft, no experience, no real leader...but man how wrong I was. I didn't think they'd do terribly but the showings against Australia, Serbia (we lost but had the spirit and were the better team) and England have showed me the heart of these guys. If this team can continue growing together (lots of them are early 20s) I can see good things happening next WC and the one after that. Maybe it could be another German team rivaling the one from the 70s.
There was something here on the BBC news that I thought was probably quite accurate (said by part of the German coaching lot, IIRC):

For Germany, the international team comes first.

This means that in their league, they have a cap on the number of foreign players allowed to play in the teams, and spend a great amount of money in training up young German talent.

Whereas in the Premiership most of the best players are foreign, and thus are unavailable for our international side, and as the money is spent on acquiring these players there is less spent on the English youth with potential.

Apparently the German league was like the Premiership until a few years ago, when after some disastrous international performances the way the league was run/set-up was analysed, found lacking, and changed.

Also, had England lost to Slovenia then there would have been a similar inquest and most likely many changes to English football - but since we got through to the last 16 (even though we were knocked out by Germany) there will not be an investigation as we did "well enough" - so it's still a "win" for English[sub](Premiership)[/sub] football[sub](players' pay-packets)[/sub]

Ahh much appreciated, I don't actually watch it or take an interest in football so just assumed the score was 4 - 1

How often does he actually start in big games? T_T Yeah big surprise he doesn't score (independent had a good article on this topic, that crouch scores more when he starts, against both big and small teams, problem is he doesn't get the chances and always comes on a as plan b), give him half the starts rooney gets, and you might see an improvement in him.
And unlike rooney, even if he isn't scoring, he is winning the ball in the air and at range.
Crouch is easily the most underrated player in the team, simply because of stereotypes like this.

Looking forward to the game, really think that for once England have the edge.
I know this is many hours later, but I can only imagine your dissapointment.
Oh no, I'm no fan of the England football team. I'm glad I called it wrong.

You see, once England are out, the media bulshit dies down and the World Cup becomes a football tournament again. It's all much more enjoyable now.

Oh right, lol well the score was officially 4 - 1. But the ref missed a blindingly obvious goal from England.

Here, watch from 0:30 [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UgRJUmMj1I]. The bounce was over 2 feet over the line :S

That is a good point about starts. Guess I never considered that the mentality of a starting player is massively different to that of a sub. I do rate him, he is England's most prolific striker at the moment and he is a genuine nice guy. Rooney has been diabolical this year, no passion or desire, Crouchy has both.

They don't seem to play for the pride the England players, they all just seem to be glory hunting bastards. You watch Germany and they have someone to support them when they're in a tight situation but the Engalnd team just try rush through by themselves and go for a goal to show they're great instead of scoring for the nation. They aren't as good as they think they are. They see it as a privilage more than an honour to play for England, they think it's just for show that they play for our nation. Then again I knew we wouldn't get fair as soon as we drew against Algeria.

Capello has recently said that he likes being England manager. I fuckin bet he does, pay packet must come in handy.

But really. Come on. We need to score three to break even so what should we do? What is our emergency measure? Who will save the day?

... ... Emile Bloody Heskey.

Is he known for his rapid goal scoring prowess? Was he a contender for the golden boot this year? Or is he old and knackered and should have been the first to say that he isn't bloody up to the job?

Honestly, I am relishing every barb, curse and insult tossed in the direction of our team. They were just appalling. I wouldn't even have minded if it felt like they played with heart and soul (like the US, South Korea and Japan teams have been doing and made themselves underdogs that are fun to watch). But they played like they couldn't give a shite.
