I'm wondering in general as to why anyone at all chooses sides in The Console Wars.
I'll start by saying that I think the idea is quite silly actually. I have all three consoles and I can't say I like any one more than the others. I can say I use my 360 the most for gaming, the PS3 the most for media, and the Wii... well I use it and I like it, I just don't use it as much as I would like.
So my first question is: If you have enough money to own more than one console, why would you "choose sides" with one console or the other?
I've seen PS3 owners bashing truly good 360 games and the only thing I can think is that they are jealous, or in this case, too immature to buy both consoles and have ALL the games they like. The same can be said for 360 owners of course, if you need to see examples of this kind of behaviour, check out the recent bullshot that happened on Metacritic. Xbox fanboys gave thousands of poor reviews to LBP, and in retaliation, Sony fanboys did the same to Gears 2. Or the other way around, I honestly don't know who started it, but either way they're all idiots. Or another example of truly rediculous fanboy-ism, check out sonydefenseforce.com.
Then we have the average gamer: Too poor to own all the consoles. I was this way before. And in reality I still am. I only own a Wii, and my roomates own the 360 and PS3, but the point is I have full access to and like all of them.
So when faced with a financial situation that forces that choice to be made, I present to you my second question: What factors into you choice of console purchase?
With me, it would be which console has the most games I like. Which would be the 360. I've seen people make this decision based on some kind of silly "company loyalty," and wonder why they would do something like that. In the last generation of consoles, I was Sony all the way. The PS2 had ALL the games I wanted to play and the Xbox had almost none. So my first choice was obviously the PS2. This generation the roles have switched, The 360 has almost every game I want to play, and since I love playing online, the Xbox and it's Live service are at the top of my list. I'm not gonna buy a PS3, with its very short list of games I care about, just because I loved the PS2.
So here's the last question: What's your thoughts on The Console Wars?
