I think it's down to what you want from your console.

I'm not totally unbiased though, when I was considering buying a next-gen console I chose the 360 for several reasons, the major reasons being a lot of exclusive titles and most of the top rated games were multi-platform with little difference between them.

I haven't got any of these systems (I make by with my computer and ol' trustworthy PS2). Have to say, fanboyism is pretty damn hilarious pathetic, especially on sites like Gametrailers (as someone else mentioned). After reading most of the comments I really fear for the continued survival of our species, considering the people writing, are our future so to say.

Makes no sense to me in general. Shouldn't everyone (be it PS3-, Wii-, or Xbox 360-owners alike) that calls themselves be gamers rejoice when the industry makes a move forward? Take the most recent example: LittleBigPlanet. Jesus H. Christ, has it been bashed to oblivion and back, even before the damn game is released. It's a shame, because the industry as a whole should try to move out of FPS-ville, and into more uncharted territories.

It's due to people being poor.
This. While you (the OP) as you say have all three consoles, some of us are barely making enough cash to pay the bills (with internet). Hell some people are struggling to reach the breadline. Alot of people want a console in order to distract themselves from these real life issues (and they often see it as the cheaper/easiest option over a PC). Thus people are forced into saving over a long term and this ends up with them making their choice of a single console.

There are no console wars as such. The corperate money making machine sees it as a product war (one of many) and the average gamer couldn't really give a shit about which console is better as long as the games are good.

The "console war" is an invention of the media, perpetuated by the minds of children and those immature enough to actually think people give a shit about the size of their internet penis. Unfortunatly for every mature gamer there appears to be six of either, and thus we will be stuck with this idea.

Nope, I didn't read the rest of the replies =)

Brilliant.

I personally only own a (broken) 360, but I can say that I prefer it, because it's all I've ever played regularly. Hand me a PS3 or Wii, and I'll likely be disappointed.
You prefer a broken console to either of the other two? That's wierd.

Bah consoles Pc's trump them in everyway
im willing to die for that belife so others may know the glory that is pc gaming!!!!FTW
If you left a PC unchanged you wouldn't be able to play new games in 6 months. Their constant hardware improvement and adaptabilty means PC's shouldn't be in the argument.

and finally...

The console war began when console A owners became elitist and asked "why are you buying a console A, why aren't you buying a console B, the console B is better because blah blah blah..."

The war won't be over until they console owners stop asking these questions.

You want a fact? Fine.

PC performance/potential > Console performance/potential.

PC's aren't in the argument I'll give you that, because they're light years ahead of the current next gen consoles. (Although the ps3 and xbox sometimes pull out nice tricks with such outdated GPU's).

Lets see how much rage that one gets huh?
Rage? Rage?! RRRRRAAAAAAGGGGGGGGEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

One problem of the potential for PCs is that so many different models of different things pop out everywhere and developers wouldn't be able to fully maximize a certain graphics chip or a motherboard (whatever, work with me here!) unless they put alot if not all of their effort to maximize efficiency. However, since consoles usually have the same set of pieces, developers can maximize efficiency over a good period of time hence the PS3 allegedly only using 30-40% of it's full power on games now.

Atleast, that's how I noticed it. Oh how I love these learning circles! They go around forever!

Though it's still ironic since we're getting into a PC vs. Consoles war 'ere.

Ignorance is bliss.

Seriously, why do people spew out these kinds of things when they clearly have no experience on the subject? Is it cool? I don't get it.

Well to you sir i would say that my laptop hasn't got a single update since March 2006 and I'm playing all the next gen games on it and running them at very high settings.
So please think before you say something.

I should have stated average PC. An average PC bought in 2006 would have no hope of running a spec pushing new title.

I don't understand why you're so angry. Didn't you agree with me. My point was PC's shouldn't be in the argument. Apparently you want them to be.

I only have a PS3, so many people call me a fanboy. I dont know why, because i really want to have a 360 aswell, but i cant. I enjoy all the games i have on PS3, resistance 1 to metal gear solid 4, but im missing out on gears of war, the upcoming Left 4 Dead and other superb 360 games. I find the ps3 much better suited for fighters, driving, all except shooting where the xbox comes out on top. One thing i dont understand about it though, is the fact that you pay to use the internet... which you already pay for. As far as I am aware, there is not much difference between the two so i would go for PS3 for online gaming (plus most of my friends only have PS3's). But, the Xbox 360 is at the top of my christmas list :D

And btw if anyone wishes to add me on PSN im Pasley543 :D (pasley not parsley)

Advantages/disadvantages of each system:
+raw power -lack of games for the ps3
+online -reliability for the x360
+low cost -extremly shallow games for the wii
+all of the above -requires brains to operate for the pc.

To everybody whining that a late 2007 pc can't run early 2008 games: update your drivers and find a decent spyware remover. See the above fallout exemple on how effective it is.

The vast majority of poeple do not have enough money to buy more than one console, so they feel the need to defend the choice they made to ensure they don't look stupid. Hence the console wars. It's not really a war, more of a stalemate. Most people won't be swayed by the arguments of others no matter how rational so what's the point?

Anyway the PC is the best

Very true. I built my computer at the beginning of 2008 but used the cheaper tech that came out in the middle of 2007 and i have had no problems running modern games at all. I can even run crysis with most of the options on high and can run pretty much every other game with EVERYTHING on high including fallout 3 and various other recent releases. Also looking at games that are coming out in the next few months my PC will not have any problem running them either.

when you can only afford one you take pride in it or you constantly ***** you made the wrong choice since most people prefer to feel pride in what they got no mater what it is(see penis for ex.)they some times take that pride to far and turn it into a superiority complex

13 year old kids need something to be smarmy little punks about. Consoles break down easily: Xbox360 is for people who want a middle price range system with lots of game. The equivalent of the PS2 5 years ago. Wii is a cheaper system for people who are more concerned about money than what game they play. The PS3 is a giant behemoth monster that turns videogames into mind-wrenching life experiences. It also costs a testicle and $5000(hyperbole). None is better, it all depends on what you want out of gaming.

Console warriors (and the related PC snobs) are basically wastes of carbon. There is no one "best" platform; there's the platform(s) that best meet what you want/need, but that's a personal choice. It's also an old game, given that the same petty impulses went on in the auto wars (seriously, buying something just because it's a Ford/GM/Chrysler/Toyota?) and newspaper wars and silly fanboy slapfights over TV series.

And yes, I'm going to repeat my mention of the PC snobs because they're so thick they bring their own narrow-mindedness into a *console* thread. Seriously, grow up children and stop arguing which is the best box of magic sand... and get on with playing the games, which is the point of having one of these things, right?
