Name any of the rare situations that you felt that the dub either was as good as or better than the sub.

Can't honestly say I have. But then again, I'm notoriously biased in favor of Subs, so my input isn't all that "Fair."
I prefer to hear the anime in it's native language.

"This is what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps"

Probably the most infamous dub ever, and for good reason.

I think Dragonball Z was the best dub ever. I liked it way better than the sub since Goku didn't sound like a kid. Sure it was funny the few times, but when the scenes look epic, Goku's voice ruins it.

"Badly Dubbed Porn" is a British show When British comedian take soft pornography with terrible scripts and dub them over with their improvised script. It's rather hilarious

Even something like Hellsing which is set in England. Because I would rather hear English people with English accents than hear the original language, personally.
Oh and if you can't tell my pick it's Hellsing (the OVA that is).

Half the people in this thread don't understand the question.

In layman's terms, what OP wants to know is when a dub (audio translation with different voice actors from the original) sounds better than a sub (original voice actors, with the audio in a different language, and sub titles at the bottom).

A lot of people prefer subs because the original voices tend to 'fit' better with a series.

Dragon Ball Z is a situation where I prefer the dub - Goku's Japanese voice is so shrill it makes my ears bleed.

I would never say it was better, but I felt the dub of Miyazaki's Laputa was okay. The dub of Princess Mononoke is one of the most subtly undermining to a filmmaker's intentions I've ever seen. Horrible.
