Epic Dubs

I have grown to hate the American dub of DBZ. I had an argument with someone about it; it fails to capture the child-like nature of Goku completely, and tries to turn a half-humourous (and very "80s!") show into an ultra-badass stompathon action adventure.

After reading the manga I got this approach a lot more and can't imagine watching it with all the humour sucked out again (and yes, they drop a lot of the jokes--tons of them--when they do the dub).

I think it's right for Goku to sound like a goofball kid, because that's what he is--best fighter in the universe EVER or not. I dunno. No one I know seems to get this. Well. Actually, most people I know hate DBZ. Only one person I spoke to about the subject of its Funimation dub, and he thought I was insane for the same reason of "he sounds like a little girl!"

"But it's DUMB!"
"...But he's SUPPOSED to..."

I gave up. I shall give up now as well! yay!

Seriously, though, Dragon Ball Z.
I have heard the japanese and Goku should not sound like that.

Disregarding that cover of the Ponyo theme at the end, Disney did a great job with the Miyazaki films. Cowboy Bebop also had a great dub, but it's very much a western-styled show, so that added to it.

Also, Code Geass, Death Note, and, of course, Yu-Gi-Oh abridged.

Pokemon was good dubbed though i've only seen 1 episode subbed so i can't really compare. the dub of Grave of the Fireflies was done well (excluding Setsuko's voice) but other than that, subs has always been WAY better

Hellsing is one of the only good English dubs I've ever seen.

I stick to subs as a rule, though. Most dubs suck.

Trigun's dubs made the show more funny.

The Code Geass dub was pretty good, bleach also and any of the abridged series.

I'm looking forward to the soul eater dub.




I actually like Soul's voice, which you'll hear at the end of the trailer.
