How the blazes has no one said this yet? I am disappointed in you all, so very disappointed.


It's like an orgy of Red Dawn, Apocalypse Now, and Aliens! Even just the thought of those three movies being thrown together gives me chills, and to see it done so well...

To date, Blizzards best cinematic work. Although the Wrath of the Lich King Intro for World of Warcraft was mind blowing as well, especially if you'd played Warcraft 3.


It's the voice-over that gets me. Extremely well done!

Half-Life 1 had a brilliant opening.

Trying to figure out if you're joking or not.

Why would I be joking?

The opening sets the atmosphere for the whole game, creating a real sense that Black Mesa is a gigantic sprawling complex. Sure it's slow but it's the perfect intro to Half-Life 1's game creating the illusion of a living breathing world.

Also I just noticed they were all by Squaresoft or after they mixed with Enix.. I think I'm a fanboy.

regardless, those are all some of my favorite intro's, especially dissidia..aw hell they are all really good.

Openings that raised my interest in the game would be in MGS3 and Demon's Souls.

Honestly, The Burning Crusade.
Back when i played WoW on my first character, when you're riding up through the HUGE portal it's just epic. You're like "Hell yes. Here we go."
Only has that effect the first time though...

Holy crap, I didn't think I'd see so many votes for Mass Effect 2. I feel a bit generic saying that, along with both BioShock games, though my personal favorite opening? Metal Gear Solid 2. Just nothing beats that. It truly blew me away.

inFamous is another really good one.
