So what strange moments in gaming have you ever experienced? Heads up though, a game whose central driving point is to be weird and random doesn't count. So things like Catherine and LSD are no go.

For me, it was when I first played MGS2 on the PS2. I found it to be a really gripping game, minus one slightly annoying main character, but overall really solid (no pun intended) and a great addition to the series. Then it got weird...

Raiden goes through the inner workings of Arsenal Gear all the while the Colonel goes on one of the strangest psychobabble rants each time you call him.

The Scarecrow in Batman Arkham Asylum made for some particularly WTF moments.

The moment where your screen appears to be malfunctioning and the game seems to reset itself.

Every major plot twisting cinematic in Gears of War 3 some things were just so out of the blue or just so eye rollingly stupid you were either saying "What the fuck?"(mourning Maria scene) or "awww what the fuck is this shit now."(any scene after you know who died. Seriously when did he become such an important figure in everyones lives?)

Aaand the insane button press sequence at the end of RE5. My god that was so frustrating and I litteraly had a cramp after the last time I gave it a go. Yeah there were pleanty of screaming "WHAT THE FUUUUCK"
s flying at the TV that night along with the controller, though it was flying up in the air not at the tv.

Oh! Also there was this one time when I was 6 I was playing DK Country and I got caught in this giant mess with Expresso long story short cremlins were involved and a small confined space and an Ostrich running back and forth and after all is said and done Diddy pops out covered in patches of white. At the time I thought Diddy was covered in feathers from the fray. I now realise it was likely a glitch. Still funny though.

I agree with this so much. That was definitely unsettling.

That scene where the Bloodletters just fucking tackle the Ork Warboss over the edge. I thought it'd be an epic fight but who cares, JUST FUCKING TACKLE 'EM!

Digital Devil Saga 1: My team's working through this Deserted Ship and I haven't saved in over an hour -- forgot, since Coordinate 136 before that Bat boss battle. So, we're going down the floors and get into a random battle when this happens;

Enemies:
- Agilao on Serph (me) - WEAK!
- Agilao on Serph - WEAK!
- Skull Crush on Argilla - CRITICAL - Skull Crush on Serph

Me:
- Serph uses Maragion - ENEMY ABSORBS - TURN SKIP

Enemies:
- Tarukaja. Black Curse. Mamudoon.

"What?!"

2nded! And Brotherhood as well.

I think they just decided, hey lets make up the most absurd idea we can think of, and use that as an ending! Good games, awful endings.

Some moments in League of Legends are just WTFish... Like when I was playing Fiora and my Support Teemo (99% sure Support Teemo isn't even viable. Or even a thing at all) decided to sit next to our turret and do nothing, literally nothing when I went in 2v2. He just sat there being invisible next to the turret.

*****, Fiora is crazy good early game. As soon as she hits level 6 she can instakill both lane opponents if they are anywhere near low health.

The plan was to weaken them with then standard Lunge > Riposte > Burst of Speed > Lunge combo then as they turn to focus me just hit Blade Waltz and let Teemo get a full 2 seconds of free damage on them when i'm untargetable.

Got to stage one and was shut the fuck down because my Teemo felt like lobbing a Blinding Dart at them would be too challenging...

Yet another reason why everyone hates Teemo.

Oh and the amount of people who think level one tower diving is a good idea. It never works. Ever. At all.

Even if you got two Ignites, an Exhaust and a ton of auto attacks on the guy if the Ignites don't kill him stop chasing. Yes even if he's on 10 health... Just stop. You won't get the kill and give up first blood 100% of the time.

Also this:

Volibear. WTF?!

Personal ones I've experienced:

Discovering the "Dance Ending" in the debug menu from the original Deus Ex

The "White Rambi" glitch from the original Donkey Kong Country

Getting the Space Jump boots incredibly early in Metroid Prime and visiting its Minus World by hopping up tree branches to clip out of the level

In-game moments

"I wish I could have filled your dark soul with LIIIIIGGGHHHHHHTTTTT!!! (sad music plays)"

John Blade beating the living hell out of JC during the end credits of the 1998 FPS SiN

The "I AM ERROR" NPC from Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

The appearance of RoboHitler at the end of Wolfenstein 3D

Raiden seeing the player's inputted name on his dogtags at the end of MGS2

Ed130 The Vanguard

Fletcher's betrayal in the final mission of Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance. Unless you're playing UEF (I was playing Cybran on my first playthrough),it'll blindside you. So,on top of having to drag along an Aeon ally by the teeth against a vastly superior combined army of an Aeon enemy and Seraphim LEGION,you now have a fully developed UEF psycho TO YOUR REAR. It's a complete "WTF!?" moment for me.

Another such moment was in that disaster of a sequel, during the Cybran campaign. I think you know what I'm talking about. How the mighty have fallen.

Agreed. I'd call them cliffhangers if they'd left you hanging, instead of pushing you right the hell off. There's very few games that have made me proclaim "WHAT?!" as loudly as possible at my TV, and both of those are up there. Revelations, though, was just a "well, that was a good way to tie up both of those characters' story", and the "I know where we have to go!" was expected and boring in comparison to the past two endings.
