I found it pretty entertaining, the story isn't original, full of holes and the action a bit over the top, but all flung together it made a decent enough but most importantly entertaining movie.

It's a movie for people to think while watching. That's something most people aren't used to doing. Most will just miss it entirely and failing to understand it write it off as pointless (e.g: goodmorningblues over there), but if you actually understand it it's a brilliant movie.
exactly, i might be crazy, but i dont mind thinking about the plot of a movie when it's not laid out plainly. i spent so long trying to make sense of the gun switch plot hole, and i think i found a plausible solution. if you want me to try and explain it, quote this and ask me.

and for those who think that its just another sci-fi shooting movie, like the matrix, the gun fights take a back seat to the plot, there are only a few fights, one at the beginning, a small one in the middle, and a big one at the end.
Don't take this the wrong way but - Were you smoking crack while watching this movie? Don;t get me wrong, I think it;s a great movie FOR THE ACTION scenes, the plot was insanely retarded.
i know what u mean, the action scenes were amazing, especially for a movie that came out 6 years ago, but im just saying that the movie is not all about the action scenes. you thought the plot sucked, i enjoyed it, to each his own.

Yah, but you're wrong loser!

Nah, just kidding, to each his own. I'm just bored at work.

I really enjoyed this movie! I own it, and should probably watch it again.
It's been a while.

Good gun play, good story...good combination.

This is one of my all time favourites, I prefered it to the Matrix and it has made me think of movies in a new way.

I hated Equilibrium. To me it was kind of like: "Hey lets take the BNW, 1984 and Fahrenheit 451 (in particular) dystopia and add GUN NINJAS! It'll be just like other dystopic settings except the good guys win!"

To me it seems to negate the entire purpose of dystopic fiction to have one person triumph over the entire governmental system based on the merit that he's a gun-toting ninja guy.

At this point I expect someone to mention V for Vendetta which arguably had the same sort of deal going on, however I will counter that with V being (in his words) an idea not a man and I felt it was pulled off on the merit of it actually being well written.
Why couldn't Sean Bean have had a bigger role... you know... since he can actually act.

I didn't see all of it, but I like what I did. I mean, any movie that has the audacity to start off with the protagonist burning the mona lisa is cool to me!

i liked the movie a lot, i mean kungfu with guns, how can you go wrong?

if you liked that you might also try Ultra Violet it's by the same director and has the same gunfu style in it except it's more of the way he wanted it as it was made a harder style in Equilibrium

A particular favorite of mine. Granted, the plot is pretty much straight up 1984, but Bale carries it beautifully and the gun katas are simply bad ass.

Also, really cute puppy.

It was quite a good addition, "how do we make the bad guys seem even more evil?......make them puppy murderers!!" pure stroke of genius :p
Excellent movie, although for a city without emotion there was a helluva lot of anger thrown around...

Fighting good, plot mediocre - however very fun to watch. Sean Bean should've been more prominent though.

what happened to that puppy again ( my memory fails me)
It survives I think because he saves it in the one scene when he is caught playing with it. Then I think they keep it in the apartment or something but I don't remember where it is when they raid his apartment.

I liked it. On the note of the people complaining that the soldiers had fear as a emotion, fear isn't a emotion, it is a response to percieved danger. sociopaths feel fear, and they are incapable of "feeling". Sides, blocking out fear is stupid, fear makes Adrenaline start pumping which then allows you sharper and faster perception of the world. the ready-made supersoldier ingredient. On the note of the "anger" and "smiles" i think that the anger was more of competion via ambition then actuall anger. the other cleric was ambitious aswell. The smiles were them attempting to imitate the "good" parts of a none-sociopathic society (love, comfort, safety, understanding, charity). Now why they would even give a shit in the first place IS a question i can't answer.
