I don't know if the whole "Mayan calender" thing actually SAID that the world will END. Maybe it's the next coming of Jesus. Maybe aliens will finally land on Earth to say hi. And MAYBE the world will end. It could be any of the above, or nothing at all. One or the other.

Yeah... i always held 2012 doomsayers in the same regard i hold 9/11 truthers, Tea Partiers, people who claim Obama is the anti-Christ, Nazis, and intestinal parasites. Maybe it is too easy a market to exploit. It would be like releasing a movie starring a schizophrenic idiot who any sane person could tell is lying through his teeth but who has a wide evidence anyway.
