I would've thought a movie entitled 'Anonymous' would be about Internet hacking.
Also, Is War Horse the story I think it is?

Departed (Remake of Infernal Affairs Part 1): "Directed by MARTIN F**KING SCORSESE!"
Yeah.. no, M'Bob. A big name means little when the core of the idea is an abduction. Somehow, the fabric of the movie universe knows and exacts punishment.

HOWEVER, The Thing was as remake, as was The Fly, and they were amazing films. arguably better than the originals; or perhaps they were just very different kinds of films. So, you may have a point there about Fincher and the Millennium trilogy, but still: why remake them in the first place.

I know that in the countries I reside in, Australia and Japan, there is little resistance or offense taken to subtitles, and in the the latter, there is almost none at all. Will the USA implode upon itself if these films were ONLY available in a subtitled form? Ironically, the people who die at the sight of subtitles would probably never read the books, so would they even miss these films if they weren't remade?

There are good movies, and then there are movies which you enjoy watching. Two completely different categories really. And most of the movies mentioned in this video are probably neither.

But Sherlock Holmes 2 should be a great watch, if the first one was anything to judge by.
And Underworld 4 will be fun to watch as well. For obvious reasons. Kate Beckinsale, people.

I think that the only movie that might get money out of me would be the Muppets. All of the rest are forgettable at best. I did like the Detective Conan reference in this week's episode, however (despite the Case Closed moniker).

I think that I'll stick to anime. I know what I'm buying, and as long as I can watch it subbed, it's all good.

I don't think the original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movie was that great. It dropped a lot of rather important things out. The fact Lisbeth is a hacker is supposed to be a secret, but it get figured out by some old dude moments after learning she exists right at the start of the movie. Most of what it's got going for it is that it's based off the books, which are amazing.

But but "Benjamin Button" was a stinker, and I haven't hated a movie for so long like "Social Network" in quite a while (shitty characters, the trademark fast Sorkin dialogue outstays its welcome in a different medium, way too dramatic, no character development, and based on a fraudulent book)!

Pretty sure Kate Beckinsale as a sexy vampire is worth it no matter how bad the actual movie is.

About the girl with the dragon tatoo (aka Men who hate women in Swedish) who's going to be Paolo Roberto in the sequel. He had a huge role in the Swedish movie, is he going to be in the american as well (sarcasm by the way)

Seems like a pretty meh end to the year. The only one I'm really looking forward to is Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. In saying that though, I'll probably pick up most of these movies next year and be pleasantly surprised.

as for the whole remake of GwtDT, I've seen the originals and thought they were fantastic and I'm trusting Fincher to make sure the big Hollywood budget doesn't go to waste. The only thing I'm apprehensive about is Rooney Mara(?). Ever since I've seen the originals, Noomi Rapace WAS Salander to me, and I can't really see anyone else doing a better job in the role. but I'm not sure if that's just me being a shameless fanboy for her or what.

I mean, Rapace is the only reason I'm going to see Sherlock Holmes when it comes out, instead of waiting for the DVD like everything else.

Fincher. Absolutely correct in all you said, Mr. Movie Bob.
I saw a poster of the film at a theater a while ago and thought "mmmm... strange looking flick with mister Bond hughing dangerous looking girl". Interested. Then saw which film it was, and started a very reasonable: "Why the f**k do they have to?". Super not interested. THEN I saw who was to direct it.
He gets to have his saying.
Benefit of the doubt, no doubt.

For me, The Girl With The Dragon tattoo is guilty until proven innocent. I can't get my head around an American who spend quite a big buck to remake a perfectly good movie from two years ago, just because he's too fucking lazy to read subtitles.

I kind've agree. I'd argue that it's in good hands with Fincher, but I'm still skeptical as hell.
About american remakes, I don't think everyone needs to be so pessimistic. Take the case of Let the Right One In, a great swedish film that was remade in the US just two years later (Let Me In) into another good film.

Even the author of the original book commented on how both films are good and provide interesting views of his work.

Considering the pedigree of the people involved, the new Girl with a Dragon Tatoo gets a chance from me.
