Note: I think Hulk is after Thor, just because Tony Stark was directly involved with the Avengers at that point, and in Iron Man 2 he wasn't, so it probably was not between Iron man and Iron Man 2, which is the only other possible time it could be, really, unless it and Thor were at the same time. That is a place they dropped the ball; they didn't clearly define when the Hulk movie took place.
At the end of Iron Man 2, you see a news report on the University scene from Hulk. So, Hulk takes place more-or-less at the same time as Iron Man 2 and Thor, and Tony's scene in Hulk is after Iron Man 2.

Just got back from seeing it, but I gotta point out that there was ONE piece of irony (or maybe it was ironic to me). After his transformation, Captain America was put on as a stageshow for people to buy warbonds. There was one take of a news stand selling the legitimate Captain America comic books.
Just seemed kinda funny to me, anyway good movie.

Also I saw a trailer for a new Spiderman. Not a sequel, not a prequel. They're trying to do what the Dark Knight did to Batman Begins.

I very rarely go to the movies--even during the summer--and when I do, they BETTER BE good. So my deciding process for this upcoming august has been a difficult one. But, this review may be my glorious answer! Ifffff I could totally trust Moviebob when he praises a film this much.

Splice was a lame, mediocre mad scientist movie that didn't make me think one bit. And District 9 was pretty good, but not nearly a 10 out of 10. Again, all it has in terms of a 'deep, meaningful point' is what it does in standard screenwriting bullshit.

On the other hand...

Up was beautiful.
Kick-Ass lived up to its title one hundred and thirty percent.
Scott P verses the W was one of the funniest movies in years.
Toy Story 3 was a flawless, spectacular show.
Inception! It's what you call a MOVIE.

So you know what? I can wage my money on him. It's no problem.

Saw the movie twice so far and loved it.

Okay about the whole patriotism take for the non U.S. Audience. I've always been a Captain America fan, and while American, I have taken issue with quite a lot of things my country has done in the recent and not-so recent past. I'm always cautious of people toting the values of "patriotism" when most of the time it sounds an awful lot like Jingoism. But this movie does right by the character, and why I and many others love him.

He's not the perfect American man, he's a great person. He's kind, brave, and empathetic in a way that most people should try to be. Cynical snarky jerks are fun to watch and be, I should know I'm one of them, but there is something completely refreshing in someone who refuses to give up on the ideals we all think won't succeed (but all secretly wish would.)

As for the film, it's pretty much a World War II film, staring the eccentric evil Nazi's (this time with shinier toys and more crazy then eccentric), and the people trying to bring them down, with one man in particular being a little stronger then the others. But it's the way it goes about doing it that I love.

Just saw it. Take Bob's words with a grain of salt. The movie was alright, Thor quality at best.

Honesty, TDK>Iron Man 1> Batman Begins>Spiderman 2>Iron Man 2>Spiderman 1> Thor=Cap America> Superman Returns> Spiderman 3. That's how I see it as of now.

It Is really hyped up right not but it's just not that good.

But stay after the credits. Don't you dare leave that theater!

Also just saw it and wow! They really captivate how great an actor Steve Rodgers is, so much compassion and a Lawful Goodness air about him. I was pretty luke-warm with Red Skull's character though; he never felt threatening, nor did he steal the show compared to his other films.

Hmmm, interest in this flick...rising. Plus, was that Tommy-Lee Jones? Never knew he was in this, only adds points to overall interest.
What really sold me on this movie and made me bust out laughing a bit was the fact that the Red-Skull was kicked out of the Nazis for being TOO EVIL.

I Seriously LOL'd, but it made it that more interesting to see. So I'm off to go see Captain America

Can't say I agree with your rankings. Iron Man is so overrated. It's nowhere near as good as TDK, Batman Begins, Spider-Man 2, or ever Spider-Man 1 for that matter. If Downey Jr wasn't cast, Iron Man would be an average comic book movie.

Captain America is just like Super 8. You see it, you leave the theater grinning, but once you actually start thinking about it, you can find a number of flaws.

It's not perfect, but it's a lot of fun! U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A

I wasn't going to see it, but on the basis of this review I did, and i have to say its probably the best superhero movie i've ever seen. Right up there with the Dark Knight. Its mature, and engaging without being obnoxiously moralistic and preachy like the second act of The Dark Knight.

It certainly wasn't perfect. It coincidentally suffers from the exact opposite problem of The Dark Knight. While Heath Ledgers performance carried the otherwise unremarkable (and at times unbearable) 'good guy' sections, the strength of Capt. America's hero story covers for the muddled and dull villan+henchmen bits.

Not knowing anything about Captain America going in i was very worried that the film would be a soap box for American exceptionalism. I was pleasantly surprised. The film is at its core a human drama, who's hero happens to be American. It informs who he is, without defining him.

This makes me wish I'd gone to watch Thor despite not having any friends to see it with. Oh well. I suppose I'll just go see this one (alone...forever) and hope that I haven't missed so much that it's incomprehensible.

meh, still not interested. Marvel's films have been painfully lackluster ever since Iron Man 2 was revealed to be a directionless bore due to Marvel being far too much in love with the Avengers.

And no Bob, the Avengers is not working. Hate to break it to ya, but not explaining something in a movie with the hand-waving of "oh, it was explained in ANOTHER movie!" is unacceptable. Films will never be comics and your love of comics refuses to admit that. Here's an analogy: this is like if they had a vitally important scene for a comic mini-series explained in a tie-in issue without TELLING YOU.
If you are a typical movie viewer I don't think you'll bother with wanting every single little detail to be explained. Cause that what the tie-ins do no?

Also if typical movie goers go to the movies to "turn off their brain and be entertained" why would they need to have stuff explained to them? Answer they don't because they don't need to think about it just enjoy it.

I like the fact that they are attempting to tie all the movies in together, but for the whole continuity thing, unless you HAD been reading about the movies and knew what was going on, I would have thought this to be a stand-alone superhero movie and not tied into anything. So CERTAIN aspects might come off as confusing as hell.

Gonna go see it, but not expecting the fanboy driven "perfection" which bob has touted here.

I had a friend at work give an exact opposite opinion. She said she liked most of Marvels movies and she liked the comics but she thought the movie was kinda slow and drawn out.

So im kinda torn. Though Bob is like right on the money with most of his reviews so ive come to trust his views.
Then take the word of a comic book reader and go see the movie it was AWESOME! They hit all the right points and I want to see this again.

What I was/still am concerned with was the whole "Lets make a musical spectacle out of Cap because he's the only Super Soldier" angle. That sounded stupid when I heard about it months ago, and it still sounds stupid. Hello they didnt put him on a self they rushed Cap into combat in the books.

On a lighter note Im both surprised and glad that the movie has international support. I had heard Cap wasnt so popular in other countries, probably for obvious reasons. Maybe this movie will show the world the Captian America I see: A true embodiment of the American Ideal(not the american government, he's gone against the goverment several times) Truth, Liberty, and Justice.
I understand your reluctance with that scene here is why I thought that was a brilliant move by the director and spoiler warning for those who have not yet seen the movie.
When they put Steve in that goofy costume and had him be part of the USO show, yeah I was surprised and embarrassed for the guy. Later on when Steve stated he was boosting bonds sales in states where he made an appearance, I suddenly had an epiphany: "Wait this is what politicians do all the freaking time!" the scenes started making sense and boy was I glad that Steve rebelled against that.

Sounds interesting... But will anyone care outside America?
Of course. Like moviebob allready said, anyone who thinks about captain america for more than a minute will understand that he is not about america.
Yeah, you all convinced me. Even though I love comic books I never was into super hero books at all (But like many, I grew up with the tv shows and knew the characters from there.).

I also watch and love Moviebobs shows for quite some time and will probably also see the film soon, with a cold coke and my sweet girlfriend. ;)

I hope the film is successful. And when it is as good as moviebob says it certainly will be.
