HOOOOOOOOLD ON!

If they're trapped in a lift/elevator, where the hell does the toast even come from?
I always bring toast when I know I'm going to use a elevator during the day.
...just in case I need to know of the Devil is in the same building.

Bob, I love you man, but you've got to stop pronouncing Shyamalan phonetically. It's not correct: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBiGRraX3Fs

Anyway, can't wait for this to hit Netflix. I love terrible movies.

I don't care. Spoil this for me: What is the point of the toast in the movie? Since I know squat about it, all I can assume is that the toast idea was the work of a mastermind of idiocy.

I'm glad someone pointed out that Satan is actually not the Ultimate Source Of All Evil in the Bible.

I'm a little disappointed that no one's pointed out that God's "omnipotence" was largely a RetCon on the part of the New Testament authors. If you assume that Yahweh is LESS powerful than most of the other Elohim (and you keep track of when, in the original book, he was referred to as "Yahweh" and when he was referred to as "Elohim," which is the plural for "god"), then He comes out of the Torah looking resourceful and well-intentioned, and the narrative makes sense. If you assume He's omnipotent, then you run into theodicy problems from day one, and he looks like a petty, hypocritical tyrant.
-Sigh- The argument that God is a tyrant is tiresome an ridiculous. Think about it for a minute. If God is a tyrant that means He raise himself over people which implies that He was once equal to people. What sense does that make? God does what ever He wants when ever He wants to and doesn't wait for anyone's opinion when it comes to rule everything that exists, especially since nothing would exist without Him.

In this review however Bob did a good job explaining who the devil really is, while the movie is just another example of humans giving the Devil too much credit, in a very stupid and poorly made presentation of course.
From Dictionary.com. =D

1.
a sovereign or other ruler who uses power oppressively or unjustly.
2.
any person in a position of authority who exercises power oppressively or despotically.
3.
a tyrannical or compulsory influence.
4.
an absolute ruler, esp. one in ancient Greece or Sicily.

/Quote

I'd love to see where your(s) argument goes, since I'm a curious soul, but, I'm not seeing your definition of tyrant anywhere on this. And even if your definition was true, it could be said that his is just as true.

That picture of the smug walrus made me laugh quite a bit.
Hey, the Devil's in the details, and funky toast being all funky is just too funky to NOT be the work of the Devil.

This film looks shit just from the trailers. Cheers for the heads up Bob, I was actually thinking it could be a surpriser (in quality), you saved me money I don't really have to spend.

Not that I'm doubting that this movie sucks, but I'm beginning to develop clairvoyant abilities not unlike Yahtzee's over at Zero Punctuation: Moviebob didn't like a movie with religious undertones? GASP WHAT A SHOCK.

For someone who derides movies for being predictable, he's getting awfully easy to predict.

This movie is... so much fun :p! Seriously!
I thought Resident Evil would be the best "worst" movie of the year. You know, the majority of the people die years ago and the buildings still on fire. The world come to and end but they are still doing makeup. But Devil, is too much worst/best!

Hollywood believe that horror movie = people taking bad decisions (in fact, kind of work...). But in devil they believe that bad decisions itself are scary.

I was hoping that this wouldn't suck.
I haven't tried watching a scary movie in years and I figured this one might be a good one to use to ease me back into the genre but based on that review I'll stay out of it.

But still a fantastic review, made me LOL irl several times - Escape To The Movies may well be my new favourite thing on The Escapist...

Really? Toast? TOAST? The food equivelent of a COIN FLIP decides if the LORD OF DARKNESS is in the same building? REALLY? Not the constant appearance of 666, all animals retreating from the building, TOAST?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
The logic behind it is that only satan can disprove mythbusters.

Wouldn't Peter Porker's little hooves make it tough to stick to stuff? And he really should have hooves even though he doesn't in the picture, I mean, c'mon.

And sadly this is exactly the review I was afraid this movie was going to rate. I am a hopeless optimist, I keep hoping Shyamalan will regain his touch and start once again turning out good material.

I don't have any doubt he is a smart guy and I know he knows how to make movies, I stupidly keep this tiny flicker of possibility that each new movie he is connected to will be really good and he will begin a streak of good movies as long as his bad streak has been.

Oh well.

When i saw this trailer, and the first word of dialogue was from the chick going though the security check and ignoring it saying "what could i possibly be hiding" or something along those lines, i thought "yeah this movies going to be shit".

Just from the first line of dialogue. And i was right!

And its set in stone at the toast thing. Thats going to be some kind of common mock joke soon.

My God the stupidity.

The toast scene is clearly meant to be humorous. Even if you're unsure, the reactions by the damn people around him clearly confirm it.

The movie is pretty good and uses its atmosphere well.

Bob sounds like he has such a gripe with religion, he doesn't films dealing with it objectively.

My question is... Bob, why do you go to see these movies when they're pretty much guaranteed suckage? You're not contractually obliged to review recent movies, are you? Go review some of your DVDs or something!

IT'S NOT WORTH THE PAIN BOB ;-;

Lol... my friends been bugging me to go see it with him but I bailed out. Probably best and I'm not surprised! He's only made a couple good movies.
