How have I not heard of this? I was semi-expecting a review of Let Me In, and then this rolls along? I am intrigued, and shall endeavour to see it.

And yes, the Honey Monster is awesome. As my Sugar Puffs T-shirt suggests.

But Let me in was released forever ago, I don't even think it's still in theaters.

What the hell is a honey monster
You're thinking of "Let the Right One in". Let Me In is the American remake of the Swedish film, and was released 1st of October, this year.

And I want to see this movie. I'm rather open about whats humorous to me, and all that matters really is how well its handled. Even a horrible, bad joke can crack someone up with the right timing and delivery.
No I meant Let me in, as far as I'm concerned a month is a long ass time in the movie world. Upon checking my local Cinema's viewing time it's definitely not in theaters anymore. At least not here in the US clearly it is in the UK.

Finally, no more arguing, I was foolish to discuss politics outside of the Politics board which we could debate there.
It's a thread about a intentionally politically incorrect black comedy about terrorism, political bantering is to be expected, if not outright demanded.

But not about Fox Hunting, that's just going off topic.

Calumon: Red Leader standing...

Jack: Don't even think about it!

Sounds like a funny, intriguing film. And this idea of using humor to attack the notion of terror reminds me a lot of the story of how Superman defeated the real life Ku Klux Klan back in the 1940s. It's an interesting story and would probably be a better premise for a Superman movie than the premise of any Superman movie that I've ever seen. Look it up if you have a chance.

Easily the best comedy of the year, plus I get to feel smug because it's been out in the UK for ages. :)

I remember film critic Mark Kermode comparing it to Dr. Strangelove in that it's a comedy makes you cry rather than laugh. 4 Lions will do both though.

As George Carlin said, anything can be funny.

Like a grandma getting raped, or a looney tune character getting beat up with a dildo. The man succeeded in making me laugh like a moron on both cases and for that, I love that man.

but yea brilliant film filled with laughs through out just not entirely sure its gonna go down so well in the rest of the world cause the humour's typically British but Bob liked it so hopefully it will

p.s how does the US not have the honey monster this needs to be put right NOW!

Being British, I caught this film a long while back and as far as I'm concerned it's an instant classic.

Chris Morris is a comedy genius. If you haven't watched Brass Eye or The Day Today,well... there's really no excuse... GO!

Having said that, you can imagine my expectations were high and I'm pleased to say I wasn't disappointed.

Bob is right about his small screen origins showing through... this could have easily been made as a TV mini series but regardless but there's a lot here to love. The characters are likeable and painfully human, the situation is horrific and absurd... like all great comedy, it's that friction that creates all the big laughs.

Alot of the best jokes make very British cultural references but these only serve to make the characters more believable by rooting them in a very firm reality...

This really challenges the concept that terrorists are somehow foreign or alien... these people are recognisably English, and that makes it more scary and more poignant. For anyone familiar with this part of the country, these people feel very real in many ways.

My favourite moment was one character explaining the 'martyrdom' they're trying to achieve as being like skipping the queue at Alton Towers (a well known theme park). Hence their adopted battle cry (and the biggest laugh I've got out of any movie in years) RUBBER DINGY RAPIDS!

Rant over... enjoy :)

I hadn't heard of this movie at all before this video, but it sounds pretty good. I'm one of those people who can actually take humor like this without getting all offended, but still understand that its still overall a serious subject. So I'll have to try to see it some time.

And I love the thing on Captain America at the end there. I hope it don't suck either.

... I always thought the Honey Monster was an American concept we in the UK had just appropriated.

Huh.

Oh my god, THANKYOU.

This is one of my favourite 'modern' comedies and i thought you were going to try and rip into it (like every other reviewer has) trying to say it glamourises the terrorists and how the makes should be killed as the support them and blah blah.

So thankyou, for understanding it. It's like when south park did the muhammed episode, the average person thought "HA it's funny because they're taking the mick out of muslims..." but everyone with a decent IQ noticed it was more of a take the mick out of the West's stupid fear. It was funny and so is this. (by the wya, they're not on the same level, i'm just putting out the average viewer's view comparison).
