I am still not sure about seeing this movie BECAUSE i don't like batman or iCarly so this probably isn't for me
Man, it would've been hilarious to see a parents reaction as they went through it...cobra_ky said:Not the worst. People actually took their kids to see Pan's Labyrinth. At least this one has "Ass" right in the title. Doesn't anybody notice when a film is rated R anymore?solidstatemind said:Huh. Is this the worst marketing job ever, or what? I had no idea what the movie was about-- I thought it was a KIDDIE flick FFS.
I imagine that I'm not the only one: anyone who isn't familiar with the comic book probably has a mistaken impression about the movie if they go solely by the commercials... (I suppose a trailer might clarify things more.)
Ahh, Guillermo del Toro. Master of making things really really disturbing.Outright Villainy said:Man, it would've been hilarious to see a parents reaction as they went through it...cobra_ky said:Not the worst. *Internal monologue*
Oh hey, this is a little weird, and subtitled, not sure my kid will really get this. Ah well, it's a nice fantasy story, if a bit dark OH GOD WHAT ARE THEY DOING TO HIS FACE OH GOD LITTLE JIMMY STOP WATCHING NOW.
Ozymandias set off nuclear explosions (framing them as Manhattans doing), killing millions of innocent lives. Rorschach killed many people but they all deserved to die. I know what your saying by Rorchach being morally a bad guy too...but he was fighting for justice, he was trying to bring balance by killing 'bad dudes' 1 at a time. Ozymandias brought balance by simply killing a few million people and blaming it on the 1 guy who was different than everybody else.Spot1990 said:I don't want to sound like a pretentious dick, but if you thought Ozymandias was "the bad guy", you missed the point. Watchmen wasn't as black and white as all that. For instance, I'd consider Rorschach more morally reprehensible than Ozymandias.pearcinator said:sorry MovieBob...still looks like shit to me.
...just like how Watchmen was a shit movie (really, it seriously was such a shit movie...I cant believe you actually liked it). That blue dude in the movie (you know...the one who always rocked out with his cock out?) pissed me off in so many ways. I wanted him to just die. I hated that blue prick.
*SPOILERS IF YOU HAVNT SEEN WATCHMEN*
Rorschach (or however you spell it) was the best character in the movie...and he as the one who died. You want to know why the good guys win in mostly every movie???? Because if the bad guys win (like what happened in Watchmen) then the movie ends up being a total let-down and it makes me angry.
You're not really supposed to like Manhattan by the way. He's the least relatable character in the entire movie.
But as I said, Watchmen isn't just a black and white movie, it's all grey areas and everyone's going to form an opinion on it one way or the other so obviously some people's will be negative.
Jesus wore pants...therefore God probably wears pants too! I dont think God would have a penis anyway. Dr Manhatten is just a lunatic that can do whatever he wants cos he cant die. Hes not God, hes just the result of a freak accident.Spot1990 said:Yeah but he did it to avoid World War 3. It's really a question of do the ends justify the means. He killed a few million to save countless others. Oh yeah, Ozy was a tool. No doubt about it. Have you ever seen Serenity? If not, in it the Operative kills a village filled with women and children for no greater reason than the people he was after would go there for help. He acknowledges that this was horrible but felt it was for the greater good. He says he wants to create a perfect world and then says he knows he has no place in it, that he's a monster. What Ozymandias did needed to be done by someone, whoever did it was a mass murderer, no doubt about it but it still had to be done. (You probably disagree with me, fair enough, I'm just trying to show that there's another way to look at it).pearcinator said:Ozymandias set off nuclear explosions (framing them as Manhattans doing), killing millions of innocent lives. I saw it as a 'bad guy wins' ending...I know its not black and white but Id still rather Ozymandias die than Rorschach (cos Ozy was an arsehole too)
Also, completely unrelated to the movie outcome...but wtf was that glass castle thing that Manhatten had on Mars? what was its purpose? to be brought down in 3 punches? I never read the graphic novel so I know that my hatred of the movie isnt fair to those who have read the novel...but the movie didnt make me want to go and read it at all.
Also 4 blue cocks taking up the screen isnt very appealing to me...why didnt he wear clothes?
That glass castle... You got me there. I have read the graphic novel and I'm still not sure of the importance. I imagine he built it because he never intended to go back to earth but the entire thing does seem like a massive deviation from the plot. I think it's main purpose is to add a little to the character. I didn't love the movie, but the graphic novel is one of my favourite books of all time. If you can pick up a cheap copy or better yet borrow one I'd say give it a go. You never know it might surprise you, if not and you only borrowed it at least you didn't waste money.
In response to blue cock all I can say is this; if you were basically God, would you wear pants?
