Wait, people think Aaron Paul was GOOD on Breaking Bad? Really? I figured we were all laughing at his terrible douchey overacting and that that's what made his character good. Huh, color me surprised... Granted, I was never that much into Breaking Bad, but from what I saw, Paul played the joke character, the butt monkey - adequate for the role, but giving him a lead in a movie? I just don't see it.

Ain't it sad that the success of this was the fastest way to a mass effect movie?

no?

A good amount of (read: most) people praised his performance. He won an award for it. He's pretty much one of the few last characters you can even cling on to for normality in that show once everything goes to hell, and he's a METH ADDICT. I'm honestly surprised :p

OT:
Yeah well, ever since he did that whole "Hey everyone, it's me, that guy from Breaking Bad, and you should watch my movie" while having the face of someone who can't believe he's doing this for youtube adverts, I haven't had the most faith. It's a movie adaptation of a franchise that has a notable lack of... anything to put into a movie, which didn't embrace the silliness and also didn't try to make something interesting (Pretty much as said in this review). Another game movie bites the dust.

Aaron Paul is a terrible actor, there is something unsettling and strange about looking at his face and his tiny teeth. Even with an Unlimited cinema card, I will be giving this film a miss.

Thanks for the link!

Their article on the movie car was awesome too:

Sounds like they got Microsoft to do the PR for it or something.

"Yeah, it's got 900 horsepower and all the vents are functional!*"
No problem. :)

Jalopnik and Fox Trot Alpha are the only Gawker sites I managed to find that are bearable.

Huh... Seems I just didn't click with his character. I found him one of the least relateable people in the show and honestly couldn't wait for him to leave every time he was in a scene. But again, BB was never really my cup of tea. Also, an award? Really? I just don't see it (as in, don't see how he'd get one)... Oh well, different tastes and all that, I suppose.

I'm not sure where this went wrong. The NFS games either have no plot, casting you as a generic cop or street racer just out to drive fast, or a plot casting you as a douche street racer out to get revenge on a douchier street racer that did you wrong. The whole series is an excuse to drive fast through over elaborate set pieces and crash expensive cars. How do you mess that up?

I swear, the next EA movie better be Henry Hatsworth or I'm out.

If EA is making films, then next time, you'll have to pre-order your ticket for the next film before it has been started and then pay more for such extra scenes as the ending.
And if you buy the season pass, you get all the scenes in the movie, except the climactic car-chase, which is not included in the season pass for no particular reason and must be purchased separately.

On second thoughts, having the option to exclude certain parts from a movie such as this may actually make it better.

The New Yoshi's Island scene is one of two things:

1. A "Here we go again!" situation.

2. How you deal with an unexpected pregnency in the Mushroom Kingdom.

I really was secretly hoping this would be good, simply for how awesome the cars would look, but no. Personally i hate the new need for speed games, its niche was street racing with customizing cars that are over the top and they should of based it of that, for example car in game
that would of been cool in a movie that was what need for speed is know for instead we get stuff like this

Generic boring expensive exotic cars that look like any F and F movie ones. Shoot even fast a furious did in better in one movie

See those cars, THOSE are what needed to be in this movie THOSE capture the personality of need for speed cars, but its EA i guess they were not content with IP milking games, now they need to do it with movies too.

Don't pre-order tickets. I guarantee they'll close the cinema for not plugging in a projector, calling it "technical issues" while the managers are in the office counting money. I still can't count out Aaron Paul, but this one will hurt his movie career for sure.

Haha, that's aptly put!
I bet they wished it was possible, since they've turned into such a massive crapfactory.

Wonder if this will go like Square Enix and Final Fantasy Spirits Within.
In which case; please DO go broke on your movie, EA. You're hurting this industry so badly!!! :(

To be fair, if this is EA's first film and it was just "Boring" not bad or good, then i have to congratulate them, like, seriously, good one EA, Bravo.

If they started out like this, it can only get better...right? Or am i just kidding myself? xD
*looks at EA's track record on games* eeeeehhhhhhhh...... I wouldn't get my hopes up.

OT: First I've heard of this movie since it was announced and even back then I knew it'd be boring just by the logo that'd appear on the box. It's the whole pattern recognition that Yahtzee talks about.

A lot of games have plots that are silly and might not translate well into film... but one would think that a racing game would be hard to screw up. It's about racing, you just need enough plot to justify street racing. Ask our hero why he's in illegal street racing and he says, "I got bills to pay, I got mouths to feed, ain't nuttin' in this world for free. Now gimme your wallet."

Though to be honest, of all the racing games I have no idea why anyone would say "We have to do Need for Speed!" Yes, I know it's EA looking for cruel and unusual ways to milk their franchises, but I really can't think of anything about Need for Speed that makes it stand out. A Ridge Racer movie would have a hot chick doing their best Reiko Nagase cosplay, and that would be something to look forward to XD

I forget that one game, but it was the one with the traps and explosions, and dropping planes on foes. That would be pretty crazy to have onscreen as a pure popcorn flick.

Driver... just make Driver: San Fransisco a movie already! I suck at racing games, but it was good fun.

This confirmed my suspicions, when I saw the preview for this when I saw Thor 2: Car porn and poor story and acting. I love the car lineup because its like having your NFS: Hot Pursuit lineup there. But, I do have to say that this lived up to be a big flop just like NFS: The Run.
