It almost feels like bob watched an entirely different movie...I saw it and thoroughly enjoyed it if not more so than the first 3. Like maybe im on the wrong track here, but bob usually delivers a relatively unbiased review, commenting on both good and bad while highlighting main points to strengthen his main opinion, but this was just a 5 minute bash fest...usually i trust movie bobs judgement cause its usually pretty spot on, but yeah...wrong on most accounts for this review

Bob... You -are- aware of the fact that Jack was always the main character and Will and Elizabeth were supposed to be the supporting ones, right? Case in point, it was Jack's exploits that pulled them into the plot, the whole deal with the cursed Aztec gold and the Black Pearl in the first movie, and the special compass that Lord Beckett wanted on the second. In any case, I'm watching the movie tomorrow anyway.

Even if it is bad, I love Johnny Depp and pirates so chances are, I'm still going to it. Besides, it is a family tradition to see all the pirates movies and all the Harry Potter movies the week they are out.

Pirates 4? It was bad because it was a cash in of a big franchise? Where have I seen this before?

O wait.......Indiana Jones 4.........still can't burn that out of my mind......

Thanks for the review, Bob. I guess this is a rental.

"This movie sucked."

It's the 4th one. No film series (EVER) has lasting appeal after a 4th one came out.
Ever.
Raise your hand if you liked Harry Potter 4 more than the first film.

*looks for raised hands*
I enjoyed the 4th film a thousand times more than the 1st. In fact, the series only grabbed me at 3 and 4 era.

uhhh no actually

elizabeth and will were always originally the main charachters (at least the in original concept), however because of jhonny depps portral jacks popularity became huge, he pretty much took over the series

the charachter was awsome, but I have kind of grown tired of him, I have no interest in this film anyway

Agreed with this. Harry Potter movies only got better and better. The first two-three were amateur displays of direction/production, but they hit there stride and deathly hollows finally brought it all together. The last one should be quite the spectacle.

I am going to see it anyway. I have never trusted MovieBob's reviews, and normally my lack of trust is correct. This movie definitely does not look nearly as good as the other three, but I am still going to see it.

I watched it :(

I really liked the other movies and went in with a slight negative feeling because i believed you have to have the main charachter and jack sparow as different people much like Movie Bob explained. But i found the story not as fun and like even boring. I liked the romance between the priest and the mermaid but only because im a sucker for small out of placed or needed romance :D! There wasn't even an epilouge for those guys :(.

tl;dr : If you watched all three before be careful when you watch this, it doesn't use almost anything from the previous ( Like BoB said ) and doesn't have Barbosa as someone cool as he was the previous movies :(

Either way I'm still going to see this movie for the simple reason that Johnny Depp is in it and I'm a big Johnny Depp fan~

I just saw it, IN 3D!!!!, and it wasn't nearly as bad as he is describing it. It may not be a cinematic masterpiece and the subplots do kinda bounce around a bit, but what do you expect from a Pirates movie at this point?

See the movie with a couple of friends and just enjoy it for what it is.

The original three movies are "about" Will and Elizabeth. Sparrow, while he looms large, is a supporting character and occasional plot device:

CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL: The foundation of the whole story is the poor-boy/rich-girl romance - right down to the fact that Barbossa's crew "shows up" because she (previously he) had the last coin. They have paralell story-arcs: Will has to work-out his hatred of pirates by accepting that he descends from one, while Elizabeth has to confront the reality of her juvenile fascination with pirates - symbolically, they both achieve this via psuedo-friendship with Sparrow - the "ambiguously not-evil" pirate. Meanwhile, Sparrow himself doesn't really have an "arc;" he explicitly exits the story more-or-less exactly as he came in.

DEAD MAN'S CHEST: Complications. Will confront's his pirate father directly, Elizabeth confronts whatever may be left of her fancy for pirates in the person of Sparrow - who this time DOES have an arc, but one that's forced upon him in what's probably a deliberate echo of the "Empire Strikes Back" ending (re: the 'fun sidekick guy' is lost, and must now be retrieved via a detour next movie.)

AT WORLD'S END: Unexpected, yet full-circle, closure - complete with the notion of Sparrow actually growing as a character teased-at as a red herring but deliberately avoided. (re: he DOESN'T become the new captain of The Flying Dutchman.) Will not only reconciles with his father but absolves his father's soul - in doing so, he (literally) ascends THOUGH piracy but also BEYOND humanity. Elizabeth fully "overcomes" being in thrall to pirate legends by becoming the LEADER of all pirates; the student becomes the teacher, the reader-of-stories becomes the MAKER of the same stories. Jack has a role in facilitating these transformations - hence "supporting" character - but isn't the focus.

Waiting to go see it in a few weeks when no one is there so me and my friends can loudly comment on how shitty it is without being hushed. We also plan to buy tickets to Thor, watch that, then sneak into this because I ain't paying for this shit.
