Was the accent a play on Leonardo Decaprio's or do you sound like that Bob?

Wow, your Brooklyn accent's really strong in this one. Anyway, I haven't heard of this movie before but it looks good. I might have to check it out.

Happy Birthday movie Bob. Why the New Yawker accent?. I haven't seen this movie just yet but well Scorsese hasn't failed me yet and I've been looking forward to playing this movie since I saw his name on it.

I was just going with what other people said. I'm just here to reference Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series, Binky Boy.

Great review, I've been excited since I saw the trailer last summer. Plus it's Scorsese.

Still, I'm pissed that my local newspaper reviewer, who wasn't impressed by the film, spoiled a pivotal plot point without warning in his review. It's not going to stop me from seeing it, but now it's make watching it a little less enjoyable for me.

Thank god you understand that Avatar's plot is fine. Seriously, if you only have a few movies to compare the plot to after 50+ years of movies, you've got a decent plot.
Here here.

Everyone who keeps pointing out that avatars plot has been done before is just railing against a popular movie for the sake of looking "cool" on the internet. Imo.

It was remarkably well presented, visually spectacular, the characters and settings where remarkably fleshed out. Even if it is just dances with wolves again its on of the best dances with wolves movies out there.
I doubt that. Ofcourse you'll have your fair share of critics for the sake of opposing the popular stuff, but the claims of derivative story are well founded and I wouldn't resent anyone for bringing them up.

I liked the movie a lot, but the story was clumsy, slightly ironic and not very well done. The unoriginality didn't bother me too much, it certainly wasn't the worst part about that story.

Happy birthday, Bob!

I've been seeing trailers for this one in cinemas for so long I'm actually starting to get pissed off by them, so I guess it's about time it actually came out. I've been interested in it since I saw the first teaser, and Scorcese will probably make it worth my while, too, but at the same time the theme of reality and nightmare blurring together gives me an odd sense of deja vu, having recently re-watched Hellraiser 5 and 6.

I had a feeling this movie would be great - after all, it is Scorsese. I also have a pretty good feeling as to what the "surprise" ending is, but even if I'm right about it, I'm sure the presentation of the film would more than make up for my slight lack of surprise come the ending.

Oh, and a happy birthday to you, Bob. Your movie reviews are always top notch, and they're definitely one of the highlights of this website.

I saw a trailer for this movie on Spike and, to be honest, I wasn't that interested.

Also, it's you're birthday?> Happy birthday! :D

I watched Shutter Island yesterday =)

The only two words that come to me is 'intense' and 'mindfuck'

Yes, yes the ending is somewhat predictable, but it's not about how original the story is. But rather how original it is told. And I was blown away.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I had to read the book for a Lit class a few years ago and it was phenomenal! Probably my favorite piece that we read in that class. I can see why they made it into a movie. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie, but I'm also a little hesitant because I've been let down by movies made from books I loved. Has anyone else who's read the book see it yet? Did it live up to your expectations?
By the way, I loved the Boston accent! Nice touch.
I haven't seen it yet but I know that the author has had several other books made into movies, and he only lets that happen if the movie stays pretty damn true to the book. So since the book was great, the movie should be too.

I loved how you gave us the "super short review" at the beginning. Obvious as it may be, I still don't want the ending spoiled for me at least until I'm watching the movie. I'll be sure to watch the rest of the review after seeing the movie.

I'm pretty sure it's Boston. If I'm correct, accusing him of being from New York may make him angry. You wouldn't like him when he's angry...
