*SPOILER ALERT*
The joke isn't that the prostitute was a transsexual, the joke was that Stu had sex with the transsexual, which for most straight guys would be a horrifying revelation, and thus it was funny that it happened to Stu.
*END OF SPOILERS*

MovieBob, stop being offended when there's no reason to be offended.

Do you have to apply to become the moral arbiter of society or can anyone who's easily offended get the job?
Moral arbiter of society? Movie Bob's not a censor. He's posting a review. He has a platform to speak on, and he's contributing to a dialog. If you disagree with him, why not make a video reply? Or write an essay. Or wank your frustration away in a forum post.

Read books, they're good for you.

Never saw the first one. Always sounded like a right shitty movie to me for some reason. So I guess the only reasonable thing to do now is to hang myself because I just fucking don't get it. Probably should watch the review tho.

Why do you keep reviewing movies you saw that you didn't like, if you are not going to give a full review? Why didn't you review bridesmaid 2 if you liked it? Oh, I know why; you wanted to complain yet again about all this money funding sure fire hits, and not that weird obscure garbage you are peddling.
He's not an editor. Odds are he gets told what to review. Even if that isn't the case if reviewers only review things they like then things would only ever get positive reviews. Do you see how that might be a bit misleading?
Most real movie critics review all the movies that come out in a week unless they are genre critics. Bob only gets one a week, and he is not a genre critic. I am pretty sure he chooses which one he does review.
actually he has to try and figure out which is the "biggest" of the week so as to be most appealing to the largest audience. Fairly simple stuff really, the escapist pays him to do that. (they pay him to make videos that get hits, im fairly sure more popular films more likely to get hits)
So, in essence, he is no better than the movies he criticizes. The whole video was about how movie studios sell out to cash in. Now you are telling me movie bob does the same thing? Review a movie he does not have the time of day to make a full review for because it will increase ad revenue for the website? Oh, how f***ing ironic. bravo my good sir, bravo.
No critic is better than the art they are criticizing. You can't say you're better than something if you need it to exist and it doesn't need you. I don't think Moviebob is cashing in in the same way that the studios do, or really, in any way. The simple truth is a LOT of people (maybe because there aren't that many comedies right now) are talking about going to see this movie. I was going to take a friend to it this weekend in fact but now it looks like I'm just going to take yet someone else to go see Thor. Thanks Moviebob, this one really doesn't look like my cup of tea. Also I tried to warn someone off Pirates but to no avail, although when they got back the "Don't. Even. Say it." look on their face was priceless!

I would say this was a poor review if I had to compare it with other reviews bob has made. Sure we didn't need a Hangover 2 but still It has some funny actors I am sure it is funnier than bob is making it out to be. I know as a critic you have to point out flaws but you always have to point out pros I mean all he did was say the movie sucked with no real explanation. This is how I feel so if you happen to disagree thats fine. Just don't get pissy at me.

I always find it awkward when I read comments for reviews of stuff like this or Pirates, with all the people defending it so vehemently... It's just really weird not having that gene that makes you want more crap if it's tied to crap you liked regardless of the quality of said crap.

Sequels are normally bad. Comedy sequels are almost universally horrible. Even the rare exceptions are not that good. Movie comedy often requires originality, yet in a sequel if often revolves around the same stuff people have already seen and heard.

BTW...I didn't even like the first one, so I certainly didn't expect much from this one. Yet comedy sequels almost always turn out bad. Just throw this one on the pile.

That joke has been done. Heck, I can go back to Bachelor Party for the same type of thing. Like I stated, originality is a big plus for comedy (or at least parody that is original).

I actually thought about the fact that 2011 is much more enlightened time when it comes to things involving inter-sexuality a few days before watching this; when I was watching Ace Ventura, a 90s film where the main antagonist is a transsexual. From the sounds of things, they did the surprise dick gag in the worst possible way. Best possible way; Ace Ventura. Sure that's shown from the 90s point of view, so it's not exactly P.C. but the joke isn't that she's a he, the joke is that Ace made out with her/him, and so did all the police officers. LOL.

Just to say I enjoyed this movie yesterday, and I would and have recommended others to see it. Just saying...

Does that make me a bad person?

1. Movie Bob forgets that a lot of people *happily* will pay to see the "same" movie again -- BECAUSE THEY LIKED THE FIRST ONE A LOT AND THEY WANT TO SEE WANT MORE OF IT.

2. The transsexual scene was nothing like what he is describing. At all. It's like he decided he was going to be offended at something that was totally not offensive. One of the strongest characters in the entire move IS the transsexual, and the "ohh that's weird and gross" reaction is not at all what the movie tries to elicit.

3. My big problem with the movie is they make Galifanakis' character a jerk. Not sure why this was necessary and don't think it was wise.

4. If you liked part one you will like this, unless you decide you want to be a "look at me, I'm grown up now" critic like Movie Bob and get offended at the "cash grab" and the tranny scene.

If something is popular Bob hates it, all of it, and there is nothing in it worth anything. It should be scoured from the earth. If something does poorly and is unpopular Bob recommends it highly and says there is this one part that makes it all the terrible parts worth it.
Except that he's disliked or found faults in a number of low budget slightly more unknown movies like Monsters and Repo: The Genetic Opera, and even 9 (30 mil is a pretty low budget for a CGI film) and he's loved big blockbuster hits like A-Team, Inception and even Avatar, which most people call the most over-rated movie of all time now.

So I really don't know why people keep saying the stuff that you just said like it's a proven fact that applies to all of Bob's critiques.
