Why do you keep reviewing movies you saw that you didn't like, if you are not going to give a full review? Why didn't you review bridesmaid 2 if you liked it? Oh, I know why; you wanted to complain yet again about all this money funding sure fire hits, and not that weird obscure garbage you are peddling.
Simple. Because this show isn't called "Listen to Bob Talk About Movies He Liked" Bob is a CRITIC. He's supposed to watch a variety of films and talk about the good and the bad. The show would be boring if he just talked about movies that he loved, and that would lead to even more people say he's just biased.

Sorry if this is a double post

You're looking for social commentary in a movie called THE HANGOVER?

Bob, you should just preface your reviews with a note saying:

"Yes, this is one of THOSE movies--the ones I personally don't like so if you go see it and enjoy it, I will label you an idiot and blame you for bad movies."

OR

"I liked this movie, so it's either a surefire hit anyway (superhero movies), some foreign film that most people will gloss over ('cause they're idiots), or a movie that's going to bomb at the box office because stupid people (like you) don't appreciate things like I do."
He wasn't looking for social commentary, or at least he didn't say that. He just thought that the transvestite scene was too long and ham-handed. Also, where in the review did he call anyone an idiot? Yeah, he used the phrase 'dude-bro' a few times, but he never called anyone an idiot (this time). Besides, be honest; a great deal of people who flock to the movies enjoy garbage. That's why Twilight is the worldwide mega-franchise that it is.

You're basically criticizing him for doing his job as a critic, that is, to have strong opinions about things and to tell us about them. Hell, at least he admits when a movie he doesn't like has good bits in it unlike Roger Ebert.

Of course Moviebob wouldn't have liked this, it isn't comic book or toy based. I might see it in cinemas.
Was the first Hangover based on a comic book? Because he liked that one. He just had the completely legitimate complaint that this one is the exact same freaking movie.

I could totally go another few rounds of Storytime with Movie Bob. :) Still, expectations suitably adjusted down for the sequel. :( Strongly agree with Attack The Block, BTW. It's not particularly funny, despite the trailers selling it as a laugh a minute comedy like Shaun Of The Dead. What you get instead is a sometimes amusing portrayal of the realities of an inner city block with some SCARY ASS aliens. Seriously. The last time an Alien unnerved me this much it as in Alien. Great design and so simple too. Elegant and vicious.

Between Kung Fu Panda 2 and Hangover 2, I think I'll go see Kung Fu Panda.
Maybe I'll see Hangover 2 later.

Why does Hollywood do the same think over and over again? I mean there are brilliant story?s out there which they could make into moves. Hell I can create very good original story?s and I am not a writer. Oh and when someone from Hollywood is reading this if you use story?s that are already written like books comics games ... Stick to the f*****g story don?t change something good.(Sorry I for the cursing but I recently saw the BloodRayne movies and it pissed me off. Why couldn?t they use all that wasted money and made one movie and stick to the story of the first game. Even if they reenacted the animations of the game it would be a greater movie than what they did here)

I came out of that film last night and said that that was basically the same film but with darker more depressing under tones. I mean the film at leasts starts off alot darker but just kind of fizzles out. Also, NO HEATHER GRAHAM AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!

On a different note, im from London and although I found Attack the Block funny, trying to make me feel compasion for a bunch of estate muggers was just jaring. Not that the Spiderman bed sheet scene was done well.

That bugged me too, I honestly thought that he was gonna stay with Heather Graham's character. She was kinda sweet and had an oddly good chemistry with Ed Helms. Shame.

I also honestly thought this time, Phil, Allan and Doug were gonna wake up and one of them was gonna be all 'Oh no, not again'. So a different chain of events would occur.

Sequel? Check.
Bob hates it because it's more of the same? Saw that coming. Check.
Social commentary in the 'dude bro voice'? Check.
This is the pirates 2 review...

Basic formula for comedies is simple, "Don't make sequels" humor is good because it's something you haven't already heard, a situation is funny because you haven't seen it and it's unexpected. So simply put a comedy is funny because the general theme is different from what you're used to. A sequel by definition resets the same stage you've already seen and as such is a bad setup for a comedy because you're expecting most of it. An action scene you like can be watched multiple times and you will still love it, or at least enjoy it, I'd estimate a joke loses half it's value every time it's retold.
