Despite agreeing with the general points made on the movie, I take issue with the way he reviewed it - that Mr Frog/Rabbit thing at the start was the most boring and uninspired beginning to a video ever. While I appreciate the effort to mix up the formula a bit, that was just stupid.

Wish He'd Reviewed the insanely good Attack the block.

I cant say i though this would be any good. The first one was its own little bubble, a sequel just looked like a shameless cash grab. Also the Rabbit man will haunt my dreams.

4 PEOPLE IN A ROW SAID CASH GRAB, WE HAVE A WINNER! NOONE!
Who is this Noone of which you speak?

I'm anticipating more alpha state visits from Mr. Frog.

I don't know. A friend of mine (who isn't the kind of person who would enjoy a "bro movie") said it was good, and quote: "Everybody here needs to go see The Hangover 2." and I value his opinion...

wOw look at all the people(on page 1 anyway) jumping on the damn bandwagon and calling it a cashgrab way to be original and think for yourselves......
Anyways not gonna lie Im probably gonna see it since I liked the first movie so much...now though I wont be as stunned if I find that its as bad as Bob points out...by that same token though I'll be very happy if I wind up thoroughly enjoying it

Well I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

Yeah it was kinda the same as the first movie, but the whole audience had a good time.

I was really hoping that Hangover would become like the old Bob Hope Bing Crosby Road Pictures, same actors but a change of setting and crazy situation in each. The mixed reviews really make it hard to tell whether it achieved that status.

Isn't Hollywood just filled with Mr. Rabbits and Mr. Frogs now anyway.

Its no wonder more international movies are gaining popularity.

Transvestite and transsexual are not interchangeable terms you know.
Apologies, You are correct, they are different, I didn't mean to use those terms that way, I'm assuming thats what auto-correct gave me. Just take all the 'transvestite' words out and replace with 'transsexual'.

From his "Best of 2009" list:
...getting by on make-believe "folksy" sincerity and cynical superficial pandering to the "wholesome, old-fashioned values" crowd. It's the Sarah Palin of motion pictures.
Sounds a lot like what I mentioned to me...
Not at all - like he says right in that quote, the crime he's accusing the picture of is PANDERING to that crowd, not portraying it. His point is that in attempting to make the movie profitable by making it accessible and familiar to cliches that those people find comfortable, it has sacrificed most of its potential artistic merit. You can't make a real point while you're falling over yourself trying to make people feel good about themselves by presenting them with not a single controversial or objectionable thing. You're still confusing pandering to a group with criticizing them - they're not the same thing. He does take a shot at Sarah Palin there by saying she's doing the same thing as the movie, but in that case, it's a perfectly valid point, not a sign of bigotry.

If something is popular Bob hates it, all of it, and there is nothing in it worth anything. It should be scoured from the earth. If something does poorly and is unpopular Bob recommends it highly and says there is this one part that makes it all the terrible parts worth it.

Bob feeds on hate comments.

That said Bob was completely wrong about the latest Pirates movie which makes me think this one (which does seem like a bad idea) might actually be good. On the subject of trannies I haven't seen the movie so I don't know what happened, but let me say this about them. They are fine people. To each his own and all that. But I still don't want to be surprise corn holed by a "chick" who didn't warn me. Its OK for you to swing that way but don't try to trick people into it.

I knew that it was going to be the same as the first movie but I saw it anyway. And it was funny. I'll admit that the similarities to the first movie are almost painful but I expected that so it didn't really bother me. The transexual scene? It was ok. I can see that they were going for shock value that failed but I didn't think it was in really bad taste. I wouldn't say it was in good taste either but, again, it didn't bother me and the reactions of the characters were funny.

In summary: It's funny. The bottom line is that whilst you could just watch the first movie again, you already know exactly what's going to happen in that movie. The Hangover 2 is basically a way to relive the mystery of the first film. I know that's dumb but hell, I go to see a comedy movie to laugh so if I laugh at it then I'm satisfied.

SERIOUSLY YOU GOT THIS WRONG BOB.. It was a bigggg deal because one of them slept with a transexul, not the fact that they were all transexual. If I realized I slept with a chick with a penis your DAMNright I'd drag that scene and even contemplate suicide.
SERIOUSLY, YOU'RE A TRANSPHOBIC, CHAUVINIST SHIT!!!
WHY ARE WE SHOUTING!

So, just to clarify, saying you aren't attracted to a transexual, that would never under consent have sex with them, and that after the fact you would feel very bad makes you transphobic?

Damn dude, I have some bad news: a good number of hetersexual males, myself included, are transphobic then.

OT: I really loved the bit with the Frog and Rabbit. That was just too funny. As for the movie, I didn't plan to see it, though I may pick up the first one which I missed the first time around.

thats just it more of the same(or kinda the same as you put it) isn't necessarily a bad thing. Getting back to the matter of Bobs review though I've noticed like others here that he seems to be getting on a soap box as of late and being more downputting...or as another user said better:

You're looking for social commentary in a movie called THE HANGOVER?

Bob, you should just preface your reviews with a note saying:

"Yes, this is one of THOSE movies--the ones I personally don't like so if you go see it and enjoy it, I will label you an idiot and blame you for bad movies."

OR

"I liked this movie, so it's either a surefire hit anyway (superhero movies), some foreign film that most people will gloss over ('cause they're idiots), or a movie that's going to bomb at the box office because stupid people (like you) don't appreciate things like I do."
