For a starters, she was speaking generally. And secondly, it's pretty obvious she was simply retreading the 'Don't be a jerk' rule.

I guess every time a mod gives someone an infraction for 'being a jerk', that mod must also give themselves a warning for calling another user a jerk.
... Or at least, that is the logic at play here.

Hey, the logic is not to be what you accuse others of. Otherwise, the point is just invalid. No way around that. If you want to enforce a standard as a board's official, what message are you conveying when also trying to be a well-maintained and high-quality forum? You have to admit that that sort of thing would create friction. I also felt bad when someone wss banned for calling her out in that thread. I don't have anything against you, Topaz, but there will always be some bad blood with some people. I'm glad she moved on is all.

But that's really besides the point. I would very much mind if the Escapist becomes a GG echochamber, Echochambers are by their very nature cancerous and stifle constructive discussion. I've seen way too many examples of that, and the forum linked looks a whole lot like an echochamber. If this site dies as a neutral ground, I'd rather just not join a new site altogether. I've had enough of people calling me a misogynist because I find the current status of games journalism abhorrent and think that it's going to harm the future of indie games in particular, which happen to be pretty much all I play. So as much as this might be a loosing battle, I likely wont stop fighting it.

Not that you'd particularly care about any of that. Have fun in your new echochamber, if you choose to leave. For what it's worth it doesn't look like the worst echochamber one could choose.

Though Alexa seems to show Escapist being quite steady. Gametrailers got a sizable drop in mid-2014. Gamefront pretty much crashed in the last few months, for whatever reason.

Hum if worst comes to worst, guess I'll go find myself a niche 40k forum to chill out in, I doubt I'll be missed if a forum exodus happens, or even get an invite for that matter.

Tried GameFAQs and other gaming sites, hated it, though my relations with the escapist community has fluctuated significantly over time I feel rather chilled here, to the point whenever I write something stupid or a comment I regret, I usually don't feel too bad about it cos people are usually cool here. As far as all purpose geek sites go, this is the one I feel most comfy in.

If this is true this gives me more a reason to be ¬¬ about all these morality debates (that I've done my damn best to stay clear off). The smarmy attitude of some of these posts rub me the wrong way too, don't even care what "side" they are on.

But holy shit what is going on?! The Tito is leaving, the SJW Carly smith is leaving, the featured content and news section are gonna be fucking empty. Honestly, I knew things were looking bad when Jim left. The reviews came to halt with like one being released every week or so, if not less. This site is dying, which saddens me greatly. Like others, I've searched the web, hoping maybe another forum similar to this would exist... nothing. None that have the structure I like, rules I agree with, and able to talk about so many topics. For the escapist to die like this, would be a tragedy.

Losing more people is a bummer, I have sort of assumed that the numerous writers used to write news articles that were essentially aggregated from other sources might be reduced but the fact that editors and stuff are being let go is disappointing. I really hope that some more written articles will be made here, I really enjoy things like Extra Punctuation, High Definition, etc. Even when they are over topics I have no interest in, I still enjoy that they are being created so I hope that those sort of features get more popular .
