Uh... no.

I'm still on my first playthrough. Non-lethal ghost. Good times.

...

Honestly, I have no idea what you're trying to say here.
He's probably complaining about adverts, the go to thing to do here when there's nothing else to talk about.

...
So, who likes cheese?
There are adverts on this site? *shines his pubclub badge* havent seen one of those since the oooooold days.

OT: On my second playthrough now doing ghost/no killing/low chaos to get the second ending. LOVING IT.

Normally, I don't like derailing threads, but it seems like the best thing to do before this one gets locked for having little-to-no value.

Anyway, people always find it strange how much I love swiss cheese. It's something about the flavor, or maybe the texture, or even the holes that make it delectable.

Thats an odd terms of service, last time i checked such blockers were not illegal...
They aren't, and many a flame war filled thread has criticized the wording of the ToS which seemingly lumps ad blockers in with something illegal. The fact of the matter is that people advocating ad blockers on the site has the potential to drive away companies that want to advertise here, or more simply why pay to advertise on a site where no one will see it. Even simpler just equate it to the former "Don't ask, don't tell" policy of the US military. Ads are how the site makes money and how it remains free to access to everyone. I think keeping mum about ad blockers is a small price to pay to make sure the site stays up and running.

OT: Dishonored is an amazing game in my opinion and even after completing my first run through I feel I've barely scratched the surface. My only complaint is that it's not as open world as I thought it was going to be. Still, the level of freedom for completing the missions is great. I seriously recommend that people play it at some point or another, and the magic of steam sales means at some point it will be so dirt cheap at worst you'll lose $5 if you don't like it.

Instead we get some dude silently killing extreamly well dressed people to the tune of a woman singing in idk what language but its a pleasent tune. Its not an EPIC showcase of you must be this awsomeness now look how cool this footage is!!! Its a "hey this is our game, its not ingame footage but its damn close"
Is this the trailer you're talking about?

Because she's speaking english and she's singing Bethesda's re-write of the sea-shanty "What do you do with a drunken sailor?" (theirs is "What do you do with a drunken whaler?" and is much darker than the real song)

Yep thats the one im talking about. If this is what the OP is reffering to then i dont see how its as bad as they say it is. By far the most pleasent thing ive seen and heard as an advert. Its not supposed to be epic in your face advertising, or even a your missing out message. Its just there. Put aside that ads fund the site and what have you. They are unavoidable but this one is as unintrusive as can be. Not loud, not jumping up and down for your attention, i can go on but i think i made my point.

Ads are becoming something of an entertainment venue sorta. Stuff like Axe body spray or oldspice and even cereal commercials are going on a comedic route. How do you advertise a game while still making it entertaining? Or at the very least watchable? Especially when it comes to a game like this one. Cant be comedic or people will think its some kinda lighthearted romp. Cant be sullen or tragic or people will be turned off by its bleakness. It cant be awsome and epic showcasing big bad bosses and guns/weapons or its just as generic as all the other game adverts/trailers. So how do you do it?

By far best advert i ever sat through. Sure i guess it didnt sell me on the game (adverts hardly do, real gamers reviewing games and lets plays do that) but atleast i know the game exists, know more or less the main gimick/what genre of game it is, and i dont overly hate its guts so this is a victory for thier advertising department.

I gotta say, the adverts on this site only annoy me when trying to play a video and after the advert the volume will be muted. It gets me every time.

The adverts for Dishonored on this site were nowhere near as bad as on IGN where everytime single time you clicked on one of their articles, the same damn advert would open every single time and you couldn't do anything until it was over. Now that really was annoying.

As for Dishonored itself, I'm enjoying it so far, though I'm not sure why people were moaning about it being short, it took me hours last night to finish the first mission after leaving the jail, because I was just enjoying looking around the place and discovering secrets and stuff.

Parmesan for me please, grate it on some pasta.

Anyway, I'll be getting Dishonored once my new PC arrives and I actually have some money again.

The dishonored ads are a bit much. I am reminded of all of the beef jerky ads the escapist had a while back. I love dishonored though, I'm still on my first playthrough and I love it.

I like a good asiago cheese myself.

I'd probably get it if I had the money. Right now I'm sticking with my backlog of games and my LotRO subscription(I started a kinship a couple months ago, so I'm wanting to keep that going).

Seeing people complaining about ads always makes me face-palm and shake my head.

People just don't seem to get that places like The Escapist don't bring you entertainment for free. Ads are the payment so that people don't have to pay actual money for the content. Granted that I pay once a year to be in the Pub Club, but I do that because I want to support the site more and I like the little perks I get.

Yes there are people that don't understand how ads work and why they are around(though that number is small). I believe the rest are people that want free things with out consequence/paying, which is a bigger problem these days more than ever. Ads are annoying, but they serve purpose.

too many adverts, im all for websites using adverts, but man they need to add some freaking variety. I feel like its been months since Ive seen anything but Dishonerned advertisements. I thought the movies was bad but now that dude popping up on the bottom of the screen makes me not want to visit the site

I have ads turned off so I didn't even know about it... However I've just watched Susan's review and it sounds like my dream game! Unfortunately it's kinda rule of mine not to buy games until they've come down in price... So conflicted.

Dishonored definitely worth a rental. It got great atmosphere and some fun mechanics. It just has little re-playability as both endings feel unsatisfying and most missions can be accomplished just as easily any way you decide to play it.

Video ads haven't ever bugged me it's just part of the price for free entertainment, however the banner ad is annoying as hell, but I'm not gonna let them stop me from playing what looks like a really great game it just seems petty.

excessively advertiszing a game does turn me off to it slightly, but ive seens ome videos of it being played and I tink I could get into it ifI had my system and more time ot play.

As to cheese I enjoy the sandwich cheeses, except pepperjack. not sure why, just not my fancy.

Wait, there's been tons of ads for Dishonored? I haven't noticed any at all. Something must be hijacking my ads or something, since I haven't spotted any ads for it on the escapist.

Speaking of it, sometimes I get no ads at all, and sometimes I do. Also, I still show my PubClub icon, even though I haven't been a memeber for about a year or so. The only reason I'm not anymore, is because amazon payment bugged up and wouldn't let me access the payment options because I couldn't pay (because my old card had expired). So yeah, I was trapped in a bit of a loop there. Also, captcha doesn't always appear.

I totally get what you're saying. I was catching up on some Escapist videos yesterday and I swear I watched/listened to that stupid Dishonored commercial at least 20 times. Hey, I like Dishonored but come on!
And I know what someone's gonna say: "Well, get into the Publisher's Club and stop whining!". I would gladly do, if only to help the Escapist, but I can't at the moment. So because I'm broke, I have to suck it up. *Sigh*

I understand why they do it, I really do. But I don't think I can take listening to that girl humming-singing again... *Sobs*

I wasn't interested in Dishonored before buying it. Now I'm glad I bought it, it was well worth it.

I don't mind the Dishonored ads too much. I would much rather listen to video game ads for 30 seconds than any of the ads that Blip puts on (I swear, if I hear one more Verizon commercial...). Dishonored is gonna be my next game purchase, as soon as I've had my fill of Pokemon Black 2. I've heard so many great things about it, so to me, watching the ads is just holding me over until I do get it.
