Unemployed and claiming JSA but on a 26 week placement working in a charity shop which was totally sweet until they fired my manager and now I'm not sure. I've been unemployed since I graduated almost two years ago so it's nice to actually have something to do all day. Been applying for everything in sight and always hit the problem of being over-qualified or under-experienced. I don't know why they think a degree will make me less able to work but apparently they do.

I'm half-seriously considering doing another 3 A-Levels and another degree, in some sort of physics.

I've been out of work for about 3 years now.

The majority of jobs around here were in the automotive industry. There are a lot of fabrication and paint plants, some assembly plants, and even the Jeep plant where Jeeps are built from the ground up.

When things started going wrong for the economy, most of these plants laid off hundreds of workers. Some of those workers went and found other jobs.

Places simply stopped hiring and our city is at the highest unemployment rate it's ever been. Temp services stopped functioning because there are no places to place people.

A friend of mine was just let go from her job as a dental assistant because people cant afford a dentist visit. No patients means no reason to have employees. She's tried every dentist in the area and can't get a job anywhere.

Then there's me. The last 2 places I worked went under within 3 months of me starting there. That means my applications look like I won't stick around because I haven't worked anywhere for more than 3 months. If I put that I haven't worked at all, it looks even worse.

In 3 years I can safely say I've filled out over 250 applications. I have never had an interview.

TL:DR: Hell no I don't have a job!

Employed, working at a paintball field as the most experienced ref. As long as I don't fuck up big time it'll remain that way.

Unemployed, but I've managed to find a job or two throughout the month to keep the collectors at bay.

Employed; my boss is unwilling to train someone to do the things i do, and frankly i'm not sure he'll ever find anyone willing to test new drugs on himself (i'm nursing a nasty blood clot as i speak!) for such a small bonus.

I'm a student, so I can blithely ignore this question for the next 2 years.

I know being a student means you don't class as unemployed, but I'd hardly say that you class as employed either, so I don't no what to count myself as...

I'm on Employment Insurance, which suits me very well. $700 every two weeks to do nothing until I go back to school in the fall? Yes please, thank you very much.

Unemployed currently, but more out of choice than anything. A levels taking precedent for me. I've been offered a summer job as a waiter so I'm taking that to get a bit of money before Uni.

I haven't had a real job in about two years now. I'm a full time college student and there's few part time jobs available and even fewer who dont seem to think I'm over qualified for the work.

Being in college I can't claim Job Seekers Allowance, though the gov has brought in this brilliant idea now that if you've been out of employment long enough you can go back to college and still claim JSA.

I'll be going into a masters next year, so again, no job.
