You know, I remember what I think was maybe the very first (or one of) episode of Fox News, when it was originally a TV show slot on Fox, in the mid 90's before it became an actual station, in of itself. I don't know if I'm remembering things right, but I remember thinking "Fox is making a news show?" while I was sitting down to watch X Files and reading the 40k 2nd ED Dark Millenium rules expansion... or something.
I didn't follow its development though, because I was immediately turned off by how schlocky and tabloid it was: mostly showing off 'scare you silly' home invasion clips and other nasties... This was before it actually had any of it's now well known anchors on staff or had really "developed".
I *might* be confusing it with something else, this was about 15 years ago, but I'm pretty sure in it's very earliest incarnation, it was a TV program, rather than the station we now know and (mostly) loathe.
Anyway, figured that might be an interesting bit of anecdotal trivia on some of the shittiest long running American TV.

TL;DR - I remember early Fox News (mid 90's) was tabloid-schlock. I haven't kept up with it's history, because for me it's not either News or Entertainment - just a depressing vacuum.
