Yeah they are so one sided that it is crazy. Can't stand Republicans and thats all Fox news is. I can't stand how they seem to take the truth, then spin it in such a way that who ever they are going to target, looks like the devil himself. Hated bush, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, all those other morons who mix politics with religion.

Of course the ME situation, along with how they criticize everything without doing research, they give half the story on everything, and they don't really give actual news.

So...what is the problem with that? :-\ Did I miss something?

Anyway, it's not their bias that gets to me. I mean, every news station has bias. It's how painfully ignorant they can be that bothers me, and how much they misrepresent their stories to achieve their bias.

Well, I'll put it that way.

If you go around saying that Fox News is biased just like any other channel, you are wrong.

It's not that they are biased. Biased media is tolerable. It can exist. Fox News lie. They distort, they misquote, they quote-mine and that's the only thing they do.

Every new thing you see them do is somehow more despicable than the last one. The fact that you don't even really have to look for examples of them contradicting themselves speaks for itself.

Sure, news channels have always been guilty of bias. But being biased and presenting only one side of the issue is one thing - blatantly making shit up and outright lying to millions is another. I don't know how those people sleep at night. They can't possibly honestly think they're right.

Eh, just as bad as the other American news sources. Better than RT News though, but that's Russian.

"Made by retards, for retards," just about sums it up.

Most news outlets in the world are biased to some degree; what Fox "News" does is shit its own agenda out of every orifice even if they don't have a shred of evidence for their case.

its no worse than any other news site, and the only real reason they catch so much shit is that their bias leans to the right (admit it. YOU people are just as biased). So they become an easy target.
every news channel pushes agendas and tells lies, fox is no exception.
hell even the daily show and colbert report are biased (but they're comedians so...what ever)
if you just want updates on the world, they'll tell you, you want political talk, they'll lecture you like everyone else. they just tend to get more shit from people for having a different agenda than the typically more left leaning news channels and because its more popular.

also, red eye is funny, i dont give a shit what anyone says.

I think it's damned hilarious! I like to play a little game where everytime I feel the urge to facepalm I take a drink instead. I got drunk on light beer halfway through the O'Rielly Factor ;)

I'm all for free speech, so Fox News doesn't bother me all that much. Hell I used to go to their site for "the other side of the argument", but I stopped. It was the comments section that got to me. People genuinely calling for Obama's assassination. If you don't agree with his fiscal policies, fine, I get that, but calling him names from "Obummer" to "nappy-headed monkey" is out of line. Calling for his death is right out.

Fox Broadcasting Company (which produces Fox News) is owned by News Corp, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch, who has repeatedly proven that truth, integrity, and anyone who isn't him are perfectly acceptable casualties in his efforts to influence the world to bend to his particular mindset.

Considering the Islamophobia that Fox News seems to enjoy broadcasting, I wonder how many of its adherents are aware that a major (7%) stockholder of News Corp is a Saudi prince?

Biased news I can tolerate, but Fox News tells outright lies. It makes me sick that they can get away with it. They talk as much bullshit as they can and then go "oh sorry our fact checkers must have made a mistake", they don't have any fact checkers.
Here's proof of the above statement, especially that last sentence:

And this video proves something else someone said on this thread...

Bill O'Reilly.

Mt argument ends there.
Exactly. They're all conservaties and they lie saying they're news is "Fair and Balanced".

Bah!
I haven't watched TV for about 3 years now. CNN, FOX, NBC, CBS - it doesn't matter. They're all the same BS, just different flavors of the same BS. However, Bill-O is one of, if not THE, worst offender in these regards.

Everyone pretty much knows what the general stance on Fox News is. I can't help but think these threads are more about rooting out that one or two conservatives that may be lurking among us so that they can be flamed.

They're a propaganda machine, and really that's not a bad thing. People act like we can't have propaganda any more, like people are too smart for it or something. If both parties had a propaganda machine, politics would work a lot better.

WHAT HAPPEND WITH MASS EFFECT?
If what I've heard is to be believed, they ran a story saying that Mass Effect was basically a next-gen version of Custer's Revenge, i.e. almost nothing but pornographic content.

Their source on this was somebody who had never played the game, and found the notion that she should have absurd.

Many people didn't like this.

I don't have a problem with Fox News. Yeah, they're inaccurate and biased as fuck, but so is every news station ever. I don't agree with them, but I still watch them just so I know what I'm constantly disagreeing with.

You know, I remember what I think was maybe the very first (or one of) episode of Fox News, when it was originally a TV show slot on Fox, in the mid 90's before it became an actual station, in of itself. I don't know if I'm remembering things right, but I remember thinking "Fox is making a news show?" while I was sitting down to watch X Files and reading the 40k 2nd ED Dark Millenium rules expansion... or something.

I didn't follow its development though, because I was immediately turned off by how schlocky and tabloid it was: mostly showing off 'scare you silly' home invasion clips and other nasties... This was before it actually had any of it's now well known anchors on staff or had really "developed".

I *might* be confusing it with something else, this was about 15 years ago, but I'm pretty sure in it's very earliest incarnation, it was a TV program, rather than the station we now know and (mostly) loathe.

Anyway, figured that might be an interesting bit of anecdotal trivia on some of the shittiest long running American TV.

----

TL;DR - I remember early Fox News (mid 90's) was tabloid-schlock. I haven't kept up with it's history, because for me it's not either News or Entertainment - just a depressing vacuum.

I watch Fox News regularly. I also watch CNN, MSNBC, and CBS. That's really the best way to watch news, getting it from several sources. It lets you sort out what's what on your own.

Rant begin.

But really, I see all of the Escapist saying that Fox News outright LIES on a regular basis. Does anyone care to give me examples of everyday news that they have blatantly lied? And not because of later developments, times that they actually lie on normal stories and don't correct themselves or seem to care. I know the whole Mass Effect debacle was crap; and that is one aspect of Fox that I passionately dislike, the network's seeming hate for video games (Although there was a story about how games can teach and enrich lives (such as teaching, great experiences, etc) and they mentioned Assassin's Creed 2 as a great game for its beautiful Renaissance setting. And by the way, Gretchen Carlson is the worst reporter on matters of video games.). There are always those stupid stories (i.e. when Fox used a "report" from The Onion) but those are flukes in my opinion.

I'm sorry for any discombobulation in the above paragraph, it's really a jumble of thoughts that's hard to put down in writing. I feel vastly outnumbered. Preparations for flame war complete.

I think the fact that fox is banned from Canada because Canada has that silly little law that makes it illegal to tell lies as news. Do not understand why only Canada has this law, nor why the PM is trying to remove it. *Shrugs* I'm in England, so it doesn't really affect me.

I couldn't care less that Fox news is filled with right-wing idiots. I also couldn't care less if they were left-wing idiots. All I want is for them to start being honest with their news.

This will never happen of course.

<-- moderate conservative here. that is all.
