Rev had launched a few minutes before him. Good to see things were finally getting back on track. The absence of the pilots had caused a lot of mayhem in the hangars, adding to the rest of NERV's madness today. What the hell was so urgent; what the hell had happened. Were they really this freaked because an Angel arrived only a week after another? For whatever reason, today NERV was putting the NERV in nervous.

"40%"

In an instant, Alexander and Unit-31 were one, binded to each other. Unit-31 could sense something was afoot with Alexander and after a bit of probing in his mind, found out why. His eva sent a tingle of interest but didn't prod any farther. Looked like Unit-31 shared the same opinions on secrets, as Alexander did.

"75% Unit-31 is clear."

Eager to forget about the mindfuckerry of this morning, Pollux and Dioscuri were out of the hangar in an instant, ready to fight the good fight.

Addison rushed to her Eva as her plugsuit stuck close to her body as if it was a second skin. She saw the other pilots rush to their EVAs as well. Addison boarded the Entry Plug and soon she was encased in the LCL around her. She didn't have time to focus in the hurried steps or hurried demeanor that staff had because to Addison, it was just another day on the job. In the corner of her eyes, she could see some of the scientists eye her nervously. She tried not to think why they looked like that.

10%

Deep down Addison couldn't afford to keep these trivial mood swings take advantage of her. They were all a team and they had to act like one. The team comes first, friends came at a dead second.

50%

The soul of Unit-09 greeted her with his synchronization between their bodies. He noticed quickly, her secondary thoughts but he dismissed it focusing on preparations for the battle ahead. Addison knew this as well.

70%

Addison's hands gripped the controls harder as the lift raised her into the milky light of the moon's beams. The night looked wonderful but dreamy landscapes could wait. There was an angel to exterminate and a world to save.

Pollux was moving at top speed. Though he'd enjoyed the break, he had to admit it was nice to be with Unit-31 again. Piggy was already far ahead of them and they were waiting for his initial report. Pollux felt slightly ashamed. Piggy was far ahead of them because he was actually on time, that he'd been the one to call them, and that at only eleven, Piggy was probably showing a lot more maturity than the rest of the team. He knew nothing about Piggy and never ever really talked to him. It was kinda messed up.

"So, Piggy, what do you see on your end?"

The thing Alexander had seen was still there, the thing the Nerv ground team had found in the rubble.

During the fight, Addison-13 was the first one to attack the main angel and attempt to destroy it's core. She was the first one to actually touch it.

Without it's "sprites", it couldn't absorb anything. The angel needed them to break down the materials. Since it couldn't do that, it simply copied the Eva's data and saved it onto it's core and body. When they took out the core, a lot of the essence landed on the carcass of the angel. It caused a sort of reaction. Though the core is gone, the left over information it had was forming something out of the carcass. An Angelspawn, copied from an Evangelion, in Unit-09's image.

But this was only a piece. The rest was nowhere to be found.

[hr]

Addison-15 took her first breath in a van next to a man on a computer. She opened her eyes to see trails of headlights from cars on the highway. The moon was overhead, with searchlights scanning the clouds. For a long, frozen moment of disbelief, she did not know what was happening. She didn't understand what her brain was receiving.

And then: her first thoughts, a part of the brain opening up that she had not been. A place untouched that she could access. She started to understand what she was looking at. She studied the environment. She pictured things in her mind, turning them over, taking them apart and trying to see how they fit together.

The van pulled off to the side on the highway, changing vehicles. Four men got out of a second van. They were in civilian clothes, wearing shorts and jackets. They were all heavily muscled, lean, and fit. The largest of them was 6'6". Scars covered one side of his face.

Addison-15 knew three ways to react to people. If they were friends, she helped them. If they were her masters, she obeyed them. If they were a threat, she neutralized them. So when the men surrounding her moved, she hesitated. Not because she was afraid, but because these men could have fallen into any of those categories.

The two men flanking her guided her to the truck. She resisted and they made noises to each other. Fifteen hunched her shoulders and tucked her chin to her chest so she couldn?t be choked. She whipped her right elbow over the hand guiding her, pinned it to her side, and then punched the man in his jaw. The other three reacted, moving closer? but the girl ducked and slipped under someone trying to restrain her. She spun free, breaking the man's arm. In the next second Addison-15 sprang off her back foot and launched her entire weight in a kick at the scarred giant. Her heel smashed the man's wide chest. Ribs cracked. He yelled and brought his hands up, too slowly. Addison followed and drove her fingers into his eyes. Three more seconds and another was on the floor, blood running from his check, leg tilted at an unnatural angle.

They finally brought her under control. But for those brief seconds she just... smacked people around like they were sacks of meat rather than mercenaries.

Pollux learned from Piggy that spotting the angel might not be as easy as they'd hoped. The Mobali Geological Center had detected something big moving in the upper mantle. They were certain it was an Angel, speculating that it had somehow buried itself earlier and systematically traveled through molten currents of subterranean magma. The Geological Center could track the angel, to a degree, but they weren't gonna be fighting it anytime soon. It was too deep, and even if it was closer to the surface, they still wouldn't be able to fight it easily. The scientist at the center worried that the angel could cause seismic activity, perhaps even small eruptions. Surfing through the molten currents of subterranean magma, the angel had a pretty great advantage over them.

"What the hell is it with angels and the underground?"

Piggy didn't know. He said him and the group could regroup up ahead and actually form a plan on how to handle this. With that, Pollux's comm went dead with Rev and Addi alongside him.

Owen was furious. He was livid, he was mad, he was infuriated, crazed, frenzied, and ablaze. But most of all, he was tied up. One moment he had been getting the science teams organized for the angel attack and ushering Alexander to his Eva (and more importantly away from the... new acquisition), and the next he felt a pull on his head and knew nothing but blackness. When he awoke, it was face down in what he could only assume was a white van, if Hollywood were to be trusted.

Owen pushed against the ropes, trying to free himself in some vain hope that his kidnappers had made some error in their rope-work. They had not. He struggled for several minutes, before one of his captors grunted. A sharp pain followed. Owen didn't try again. Many things could be said about Owen. First and foremost of these was "quick-learner"

After what felt like hours, though realistically minutes seemed more likely, Owen finally heard the engine stop. Moments later, he felt the sudden movement as he was forcefully moved from his uncomfortable resting place, the pain in his side dulling his awareness.

After some time, he was placed in what Owen assumed was a chair. A moment passed before the cover over his eyes was removed, unleashing a flood of light into his unadjusted eyes. Even with his burning eyes, Owen could make out two details. First was that he was not alone. The other occupant was a man, taller than he by a few inches, though he could not make out much else until his eyes adjusted.

The second detail was the presence of his new plug-suit prototype on a table before him. The interview piggy had made several several days before had prompted him to make a new plug suit. It was more advanced in most ways: better synchronization rates were possible, Better armor if the entry-plug was breached, even greater range of motion as piggy had indirectly requested. Now it lay before him, a mockery of the great device that it was supposed to be

"Oh, this is gonna be one of those days" he mumbled, spending the last reserves of his sarcasm.

"Oh it is" the man before him replied, a strange look on his face. "I have a few questions Dr. Laurence, I hope you can answer them. if not...", he left the threat hanging, reinforced by the hand resting on a small side arm. As Owen's eyes cleared, he could make out the strange look: a bizarre smile, like something of a caricature drawn by someone who knew not the meaning of a smile.

"Please be so kind as to tell me about this "Project UZN.2" of yours"

And just like that, Owen knew he was screwed.

You end us on a nice point, so I think I'll call it a night. I've already gotten Rynoson involved, and I'm kinda hoping he reads over a few things, talks with you and Asc, etc. The other pilots will figure it out through Asc's last post.

Lost. It is a strange feeling, to regain a mind after dormancy. Children of Adam, fragments of what of what was once a whole, scattered to the winds as seeds from a tree. But every seed remembers its creator, and will lie dormant. Waiting only for the time when conditions are right, when there will again be the chance to grow.

And so did Malakiel arise in the thick, liquid heat. It looked to the sky but could not yet free itself of this place. Heaven was set just beyond it's grasp. And so it opened its eyes and began to dig.

The topsoil of this world was rich with life, living, dying, and being born in the LCL, blood of Lilith. But life, back in its earliest origin, came from unlife. From that which was nothing but chemical elements, the creator of the universe gave them the A.T. field, and the elements joined to form the first beings. And so it was, that beneath the surface the Angel shaped itself. Found new life.

It did not remember it's former glory. It did not recall the distance Adam traveled to reach this planet. All it remembered was the fire. But beneath the surface, swimming through currents of fire within the veins of magma, it watched and waited. And then, a brother. Kemmuel came from above, announcing itself to the Lilim.

Now is the time to rise! Paint the skies an ashen grey. Boil the seas and char the land. Not to destroy life, but to elevate it to levels unimagined. Remove the impurities and temper it with our own perfection. We are Angels, and we have come to spread among the stars that all may know our progenitor's story when they too come alive.

[hr]

The only information they had been given before deployment was that there had been an Angel detected underground and that it was moving close. It would come up from the nearby mountains. The Entry Plug's holographic screens would intermittently update, but the chaos of the situation making it nigh impossible to get any decent communications with operators at Nerv.

Piggy had only taken his hammer. There wasn't time for anything else. Unit-01 swiftly ran over mountains, digitigrade legs at a steady sprint. Addison and Pollux were close behind, and Piggy was grateful. No matter how weird or spacey everyone was on the ground, in the Evangelions they were indomitable.

The display flashed another seismic disturbance. The jungle was on fire. Buildings were on fire. It was a gigantic raging inferno. All around him, geysers of steam and dust obscured his vision. His ears were filled with nothing but crashing sound of stone and earth cracking.

The ground beneath Unit-02's feet rumbled, the asphalt of the street cracking, releasing gouts of superheated steam. A shadow suddenly appeared at the edge of the swirling cloud of ash and noxious fumes. The shadow formed itself into the shape of Unit-31, and they went back-to-back in the blaze. Unit-02 brought her arm up to shield against a sudden burst of searing heat. The ground was slanting upward in a steep, cracked slope that disappeared into a dense cloud of choking volcanic dust where The Angel emerged. Trailing soot, it stepped forward.

A fireball welled up from within one of the heads. It shot out blazing through the air and into the buildings. More followed, from each head. The air was full of flame.

Sachiel, Shamshel, and Ramiel had all ignored humans.

This one was simply killing.

Seeing the Angel arise like the wrath of the Gods, from what was the forge of a Greek god was both striking and amazing. Sadly Damien if anything was less amazed, and more pissed.
Comming to the pilots "Everyone try and flank it or take the ground from under!"
"Get those turrets running and prepare to raise barricades if we can."
Organizing search teams through the facility for Addi-15 and Owen as his ear piece keyed in his status as missing.
"Someone use any passive detection to find if there's any movement suspicious activity top side people!"
He couldn't risk the lives of his people stepping outside what would soon be a hot zone but he couldn't count out anyone trying to brave the fire.
At the same time Damien was split, the Eva's for all he knew could have been tampered with or any of the other projects/secrets could of come to light.

Cursing silently he wondered what information the Magi could give, and issued another order of "Do we have anything that is a big enough to douse that thing?"

Pollux heard the director's instructions and began flanking to the let, towards Piggy's fallen, flaming eva. He ignored the urge to ask the director about what he'd seen earlier but figured now was far from a good time, there wan an angel to take care of and a Piggy to worry about. No matter how fast Pollux moved the angel was on him, hurling fireballs left and right. Pollux could feel the heat on his back, sizzling the fireballs flew by. This angel had no blind spot, it could see everything and react just as quickly. How were they gonna get the drop on it? Pollux fired off 4 rockets, attempting to blind the angel. Once he'd done that, he turned his attention to Piggy.

"Piggy, you okay? Can you get back on your fe-"

He was cutoff as four arms grabbed Unit-31's arms and torso. Pollux then felt a leg position itself on his back, as the angel pulled with all its might.

"GAAAAAAAAAH! Rev! Addi! Suppressing fire, if you would ever be so kind!"

5 minutes and some of his teeth later, Fifteen was in the prototype plugsuit. Fifteen seemed enthralled by the skintight synch suit, and was curious of the artificial skin the other humans were wearing.

She had taken to marking the passing of time by the beat of her heart. Forty-eight beats was one minute, 2,880 was one hour.

---

The spare suit sat in the next room, where Solovyov was interrogating the captured scientist. From outside, Owen could see the harbor where a ship carried something huge, covered in a tarp that stretched the entire length of the deck. Defense sirens were blaring.

A laptop computer was set down on the table next to the suit, showing readouts of the neural oscillation, ERP output, nerve connections, preliminary contacts. Why is it so hard to wake this thing up without it being some kind of fucking Einstein project, the interrogator thought.

"Dr. Laurence, time to get serious."

Fire. Nothing but fire engulfed the rainforest as far as could be seen. The roaring flames cried to the heavens in rage. They sang a song of death. As the beasts clashed with the Holy One, the crackling of fire played the background symphony, the swan song of the earth as it reveled in its own salting.

"Rev! Addi! Suppressing fire, if you would ever be so kind!"

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--"
"GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGH--"

The flames swelled, a figure stirring within. The ground shot down, impacted deep into the earth with the force of ten thousand pistons working in tandem. A figure shot into the air, Unit-27's strong legs putting it hundreds of meters above the twisting, gnashing crimson below it. Battle rifle in hand, it fired. A thousand bullets, expended in seconds as they pushed helplessly against the otherworldly shield. The A.T. Field. A head looked up at the beast, confused. Enraged. It spat fire, the holy flames searing the unworthy beast's form. They passed judgment over it. But as it passed, the beast came through unseared.

"Judge ye worthy."

Rev fell from the sky, he and the Eva screaming in unison.

"88, 89, 90%!"

A red light brighter than the flames themselves pierced the night, as the roaring mass of midnight collided from above with the holy hydra. The A.T. fields dissolved between them, as the Eva began to claw away, roaring and gnashing its teeth.

Though the angel was still holding him, Pollux could feel the angel thrashing around in mortal combat with one of his team mates. An immense roar came from the angel's attacker. Yep, that was Rev. They were fighting a vicious, furious battle to the death. And the yet the angel still held on to Pollux and his eva, driving it's heel into his back, it's red hot skin searing Unit-31. How the hell was Unit-27 actually touching this thing? Pollux knew that Rev and his eva were gonna feel the pain when they finally calmed.

"Alright, enough of this crap."

From under his arms, Unit-31 equipped the two rods that formed the sonic guillotine and rammed them into the mouths of the two closest heads. The poles began to resonate, causing the angel's heads to lose focus and release him. The two heads recovered quickly and the rest of the heads on Pollux's side opened fire. He was bobbing and weaving, trying to avoid the hits, formulating a way to take this eva down.

"It's pretty simple, the eva is confrontational but where the hell do I even aim for the core?"

Rev grabbed a cluster of three heads and sent the angel slamming into the ground, as Pollux slammed another pair of heads, kicking up thick cloud of dust. When it all cleared, the angel was gone, a hole left in it's place.

"Okay scratch the whole confrontational thing."

Suddenly the ground began to shake, and an eruption of boiling magma broke through the surface.

Unit-09's heels were surging past the burning husks of what was either buildings or their flaming inhabitants. What was once a landscape, draped in the white light of the moon above, was a fiery landscape flooded by fiery shades of red and orange. It all seemed the same now, no white buildings, green shops, or blue cars. Everything was the same as it was all covered by fiery brimstone.

The Angel was preoccupied with the other members, even with the multiple heads. Addison wasn't concerned on whether or not it would see her but where she was going. Unit-09 was fast but the burning heat started to give Addison a hot feeling even from inside the plug. She flanked behind the creature, just like what Damien said.

Addison was halfway to a powerful charge until Unit-31 had slammed the monster through the ground. That's when the shaking happened. It was as if the ground around them was a dormant volcano about to blow its top off. She saw spots of lava breaking the surface around them and the image looked even more hellish.

"Stay back." Addison almost flat out ordered her other teammates, although it was mostly aimed towards Rev. Addison did so because she estimated that the splash from the magma would most likely reach far from a blast from her railgun which she charged, waiting for the Angel to rear its head.

Yeah, I was thinking about that but decided to ignore the elephant in the room. Hmm, I guess we should make the angels come to us more often. At least we'd be in the city more, closer to hq, thus the cords, etc

Goddamn badass. The resonance should have ripped the heads open, maybe damaging your Eva too from being so close

There was a momentary lull in violence as Unit-09 shouldered her railgun and Unit-31 was dragged under. When Malakiel came up, it was at almost point-blank range.

The mouth opened and rocked forward, going to take Unit-09's head off. There was a sonic boom and a tremendous impact on the Eva's shoulder. The explosion blew the Angel in half at the waist. The top half went flying, the legs jerking violently, the core protruding in it's groin, in a circle of thrashing legs.

"T-T-HIS. IS. THE WORST. KIND. OF. PAIN!"

Unit-31 was engulfed in a flaming inferno. Pollux could feel every scar forming, every burn sizzling, melting through his eva's armor and skin. His was shaking wildly, the entry plug boiling around him. Occasionally electrical sparks would dash between Pollux and Unit-31 would lurch with agony. It was so intense, he could feel himself passing out, or was he being boiled away? How would an eva with burnt skin look? What did Unit-31 actually look like without all this cosmetic stuff. Was it simply-

"YOU ARE BEING BURNED ALIVE! HOW THE HELL ARE YOU ASKING YOURSELF THESE QUESTIONS?! Oh well, I guess this is you just giving in. Seriously, it'd be ironic in a sorta ying and yang kinda way. I died in water, you die in fire. Fair enough. Catch you on the flip side."

Wait, what?

"It's not all bad, you know. Sure, you can't really do anything and you feel more insignificant than living humans already are, but hey whatever. You can fly! Go through walls! Spy on people! Haunt people!"

He can't be suggesting what I think he is, right?

"Shut up..."

"Who should you haunt first? Maybe Piggy, the kid you've practically ignored since you met him. Or Rev, that annoying but awesome guy? Or Grim, you'd finally get to see what makes him tick. Or you know what? Addison. That'd be fun. Make her think she was crazy, memories of a what could of been flooding her mind."

That bastard was.

"I SAID SHUT UP!"

"Make me. Or are you just gonna sit down and take it you fancy eva pilot? Maybe I should've left you down, gotten on with my life. Probably would've made a better pilot than you anyway."

Pollux could see his brother's figure in front of him, mocking him. He wasn't gonna die now with a few burns and an angel to finish off. Not at all. And what the fuck was this shit about being a better pilot? Pollux rose his fist, putting all his energy behind it, and slammed it right into his smug face. He fractured into a thousand small red fragments. Core fragments.

"Wha?"

When Pollux finally began to focus, he was kneeling over the groin of a sliced angel and a fractured core, his team members looking at him. He looked down at his eva's hands, practically gone. And thats when he passed out.

"Brotherly love, man. Brotherly love."

<spoiler=OOC>Combat alright? I know everyone can be a bad ass just by posting, I'm kinda worried about the fact when people conflict in player controls. Power playing and what not seem like they could occur easily... you know? Where people all are controlling the enemy and everyone wants a piece or has different ideas?
